About the role
The Instructor is instrumental in facilitating and delivering life changing, positive experiences for young people. They will work within the team to support both volunteers and young people whilst providing high quality, role model delivery. The post will require experience of dealing with people of all ages/backgrounds, in the delivery of activities, and equipment/facilities maintenance.
As a team player you will report to the Centre Manager, with a functional line from the Chief Instructor.
We are looking for a passionate practitioner, with a background in delivering activities both on and off the water, and experience of maintenance and procedures management. Experience of working with young people is essential.
Responsibilities
The following is a list of the key responsibilities of Instructor but it is not exhaustive.
- Maintain in date personal qualifications relevant to the role, including first aid.
- Maintain a high standard of safety.
- Act as Duty Lead Instructor.
- Specifically lead on the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the shore-based facilities, including climbing, mountain biking and shooting.

The Role
The service aims to identify and address the needs of stroke survivors and carers across the stroke pathway, by providing a range of innovative support solutions, supporting them to meet their desired outcomes. A key part of the role will be to support service users and the delivery of the service.

About the role
Our passionate Regional Casework Coordinators are SSAFA’s front line of support for members of the armed forces community in need. They are the first point of contact for all beneficiaries into the Regional Office, assessing needs and allocating the case to one of our volunteer caseworkers.
You will sometimes handle complex problems from individuals who may be distressed, identifying the presenting and potential underlying needs to determine the best way to support the beneficiary. You will have ownership of cases from beginning to end, coordinating the casework process in a timely manner and ensure that the beneficiary journey is at the centre of the Service. You will have the opportunity to shape processes and procedures within the office which will lead to improvements in the service offered to clients.
To help you establish yourself in this new post you will receive excellent training and induction to SSAFA.
Whilst the post is homebased, to be eligible for this role you are required to live in the South West region in Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire or Somerset. There will be occasional travel around the South West Region, and you will be required to travel for quarterly face to face team meetings.
About the team
The team work remotely and pride themselves in maintaining a close working bond which ensures the smooth operation of the office. You will work closely with volunteers from the eight SSAFA branches in the South West, supporting them to administer casework for SSAFA beneficiaries. The successful candidate will work as part of a larger team of 10, which includes two Regional Casework Managers and a Regional Operations Manager.
About you
To carry out this role successfully you will have a track record of providing welfare advice in key areas such as housing benefits, debt, disability, mobility or immigration issues. You will have knowledge of safeguarding and GDPR and experience in dealing with sensitive information and people in vulnerable situations. You will be able to provide excellent customer service by telephone, e-mail and face to face. You will have used Microsoft Office 365 to a high standard. It is important that you have experience of planning and managing your own workload, with minimal supervision.
It would be advantageous if you have an understanding of the way of life for today’s Armed Forces, veterans and their families and if you have experience of recruiting and supporting volunteers. An understanding of the voluntary sector and preferably the military charity sector landscape across the South West would be valuable

The purpose of this job is for the post holder to build partnerships and to develop relevant courses suited to the organisation and stakeholder’s requirements in the field of chaplaincy and practical theology. This requires someone who is creative, imaginative and able to conceive and develop new high impact courses that articulate with Waverley Abbey’s vision, values and mission. It is a senior role involving being part of the college’s Senior Leadership Team. It is desirable that the post holder has a background in chaplaincy and missional ministry.
The college’s Practical theology courses currently include Contemporary Chaplaincy (a non-HE course), a Graduate Diploma in Ministry (HE course – set a level 6), Self-paced courses in Discipleship and Chaplaincy, and an MA in Spiritual Formation (that finishes in 2026). It also includes a significant round table project that involves leading an initiative with partner chaplaincy agencies at work in schools, with the goal of seeking to place a Christian chaplain in every secondary school in the UK (i.e. 4,190 schools).
Also, the chaplaincy CPD courses are being developed as digital courses to extend the reach of the college, so that the goal of a chaplain in every school may be realised. Practical theology also includes development, and coordination of the Association of Waverley Abbey Ministers (AWAM), which is a membership network for those who complete the Contemporary Chaplaincy course. AWAM provides an accountability structure for those at work in volunteer chaplaincy ministries.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and provide strategic leadership and direction to the Creative Living Centre.

Develop and implement programs that align with our mission and goals.

Oversee budgets, expenditure and management accounts ensuring that income and expenditure is within planned targets. Accountable to the Board of Trustees for the overall financial health of the CLC, including ensuring that new funding opportunities are pursued.

Oversee fundraising efforts and build relationships with donors and sponsors.

Manage the Centre’s budget and ensure financial sustainability, asset management and risk appraisal.

Foster a positive and inclusive community environment.

Represent the Centre at public events and in the media.

Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and community partners.

Ensure all staff are effectively line managed and performance managed

Take overall responsibility for achieving, monitoring, and reporting on performance against targets in all areas of the CLC’s activities.

Report to the Trustee Board regularly on progress against key strategic objectives, providing information and answering for the CLC’s performance.

Ensure that the Board operates within statutory and corporate approved frameworks, requirements and guidelines.
Who are we looking for?

Proven experience in a leadership role developing business plans, preferably in a non-profit or community organization ideally a mental health charity.

What you can expect in return
The role is part-time, 26.5 hours per week. The successful candidate can work the hours in a variable pattern which can suit both parties, subject to agreement with the CLC’s board of trustees. The successful candidate will be required to spend time at the CLC each week.

Shannon Trust provides peer-led literacy and numeracy programmes in a number of prisons across the country. We now have the opportunity to work with Serco ESW to provide a service at HMP Ashfield. Working closely with the prison and their staff, people in prison, Shannon Trust volunteers and mentors, this post will lead the delivery and development of our literacy and numeracy programme at HMP Ashfield, maximising opportunities for people in prison to learn whilst also providing daily assistance in the running of the library.
Ideally you will have some experience of prison settings underpinned by the ability to build relationships and personal qualities that include resilience, determination and a problem-solving approach.
This role will be prison-based. How you will make a difference
As well as providing independent advocacy and holding a caseload, I will provide line management to a team of multi-disciplinary advocates within the service. I will provide leadership and management support to that team and be accountable for motivating them to deliver a high-quality service, whilst working to maintain the Advocacy Quality Performance Mark standards. I will support advocates to be accountable for managing the day-to-day delivery of advocacy to their clients, ensuring they take responsibility for managing their caseload and delivering positive outcomes for clients accessing the service. I will lead the team to ensure Rethink CARES is embedded in the service and in the delivery of the service to ensure a positive working culture is maintained.

Voluntary Action Harrow is looking for a Health & Social Inequalities Co-ordinator and Trainer to work within our Stronger Communities Team.
Stronger Communities aims to remove barriers to accessing healthcare, increase community engagement and co-production, and reduce health inequalities in the borough of Harrow. This role involves developing and delivering a comprehensive portfolio of training sessions focused on Health and Social Inequalities, including Make Every Contact Count (MECC).
Responsibilities
- Develop a portfolio of training sessions covering a range of topics, particularly related to Health & Social Inequalities (including Make Every Contact Count (MECC)).
- Liaise with internal colleagues to ensure training content stays accurate
- Build effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including residents, voluntary, community and faith sector organisations, social enterprises, local NHS services, and statutory sector partners
Liaise regularly with these partner organisations to identify and address training needs - Deliver accessible training sessions both online and at venues in a way that empowers participants and increases their confidence, knowledge and expertise.
- Support in the promotion and communication of training sessions
- Manage, organise and support representation at community meetings, forums and networks, encouraging attendance.

Who are we?
Voluntary Action Harrow Co-operative work with the local community providing information, training and guidance.
Based in Harrow, we are a not-for-profit co-operative owned by our workers. We have in-depth knowledge of the local area and of who’s doing what. Our members collectively have over 35 years’ experience in the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector, specialising in capacity building in a variety of different organisational development areas.
We’ve worked with a diverse range of local organisations, from small community groups, to regional and international charities. We also run, manage and co-ordinate projects, working with local people and groups to help them make a difference in their local community.
