We are looking for a Graphic Designer (maternity cover).

We’re looking for a mid-weight Graphic Designer to work in-house to create artwork for marketing and communications campaigns across a wide range of media, including print, digital, animation, and video. Working under the direction of the Senior Graphic Designer and within the Communications and Engagement team, the Graphic Designer will work across a range of different projects supporting the priorities of the charity.

Our Manager role is a key position at Swan Lifeline, supported by our animal care assistants and volunteers overseeing the day-to-day running of the site.

This is a physical, outdoor role that supports our mission to Rescue, Rehabilitate and Release Swans back to the wild. Some experience on the water would be an advantage but not essential as training can be given.

Swan Lifeline is the oldest registered charity devoted entirely to the care of sick and injured swans in the Thames Valley and surrounding area and has cared for thousands of sick and injured swans over the last 30 years.

Key Responsibilities

● Lead daily animal care, including feeding, cleaning and site maintenance.

● On a daily basis, manage staff, volunteers and work with Trustees.

● Attend swan rescues and releases, handling birds in a safe, sensitive and confident manner.

● Being able to confidently liaise with members of the public/emergency services.

● Allocate daily tasks to our team of onsite staff and volunteers.

● Maintain and prepare our rescue equipment.

● Handle enquiries from the general public via phone and email.

JOB PURPOSE

The Children and Young People’s Mentor will work within the CYP team to deliver services relating to children and young people affected by Domestic violence and Abuse.

They will hold a caseload for direct 1-1 work with young people/ girls and deliver a programme of groups in schools to adolescent girls. Responsibilities will include recording of data, reporting and completing evaluations.

They will be expected to promote the work of the Rising Sun and take a share of responsibility in delivering or assisting with promotional work within the organisation.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Service delivery

• Work 1-1 with young people (aged 11 to 15 years) affected by Domestic violence and Abuse
• Build positive working relationships with local schools to deliver this programme
• Hold own caseload and respond in a way that understands the needs of the young people the Rising Sun supports
• Work in a mentoring capacity with children and adolescents with a specific focus on domestic abuse and its impact
• Recognise the impact of domestic abuse on young people and families; showing empathy and understanding in working with these families and developing the capacity to adopt a trauma informed approach to the work
• Support and facilitate groups in schools and in the community focusing on healthy relationships, spotting red flags etc
• Work flexibly with young people and meet with them in a variety of settings such as schools, colleges and community centres, depending on their needs
• Work creatively and flexibly to help support a vulnerable and at times challenging client group.
• Build relationships with partner agencies such as social care, early help, schools, police and health services

We’re here to prevent children and young people becoming involved in violence. We do this by finding out what works and building a movement to put this knowledge into practice.  

Absolutely central to this is designing, commissioning and managing complex and rigorous impact evaluations with experts in the field. The new government has an ambition to halve knife crime within a decade, and we’re anticipating opportunities to work with them to build evidence on new approaches to tackling violence involving children. Your role will focus on creating and making the best of those opportunities. You will: 

• Serve as a senior member of the team. YEF is buzzing with activity and in order to prevent any bottlenecks, we need to expand our senior capacity. 

• Run and manage closed calls for complex evaluations commissioned under Targeted Projects. For each of the programmes we work with, we find and appoint independent evaluators. 

• Expertly manage relationships with key stakeholders. Aside from evaluators, we work closely with other grantees and partners. 

• Represent YEF at governance meetings and other external engagements. We’re passionate about our mission, proud of the work we’re doing to get there, and we’re keen to share this with stakeholders.  

• Provide support and counsel to our team of Senior Evaluation Managers and Evaluation Managers. This team closely manages over 35 efficacy trials, over 20 pilot studies and even more in the earlier stages of evaluation. 

• Tightly manage and quality assure evaluations commissioned under Targeted Projects. YEF has set processes to maintain high standards and rigour. This role will ensure all evaluations adhere to these.

The Upper Room (TUR) works with a wide range of financially and socially disadvantaged groups including homeless people, people with long-term mental health conditions, asylum-seekers, refugees and ex-offenders – helping them to improve their lives and become productive members of society. Central to our offering is our UR4Meals service, providing free, home-cooked food to people who cannot afford to provide for themselves. We are also very proud of our UR4Driving programme, which supports people recently out of prison with free driving lessons in exchange for community volunteering. Gaining a driving licence greatly enhances their future employability prospects and helps break the cycle of re-offending. Additionally, our UR4Jobs project focusses on both client wellbeing and breaking down the many barriers to employment faced by disadvantaged people every day.

The role

Is leading the charity through its next phases of development as it prepares itself for year on year increases in demand with a focus on delivering the charity’s future resilience plan (Project 12/25). The CEO is accountable for overall charity performance (financial, operational, governance, compliance), team (paid and volunteer) support and development. Additionally, there are a wide range of community and external partner relationships to manage and develop. We are seeking a dynamic, experienced Director who will be responsible for the work of the charity within the UK. The Director will be the strategic and day to day leader of the UK organisation and will also work hands-on not only with his/her direct reports but also all teams in the office. We are seeking a leader who can take the UK charity’s fundraising to new heights; thus, this is a particularly important focus area.

The role will be directly overseeing the World Cancer Research Fund UK’s Fundraising and Health Information Departments. You will report to the CEO and work in partnership with the UK CEO and other senior executives in updating and implementing the organisation’s strategy and objectives. 

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience of directing and leading a similar sized UK philanthropic organisation (or a fundraising team within a larger charity), including writing and implementing strategies and evaluating outcomes. You will have proven experience of delivering fundraising objectives as well as a strong track record in communications and up to date knowledge of social media and digital strategies. Substantial experience of management of teams at both strategic and tactical level including developing skills, abilities, performance management and confidence in staff is required as are high level speaking skills.

The Battersea Infrastructure Services Team is looking for someone to join them as a Infrastructure Services Administrator, to provide effective, efficient and customer-focused administrative support for the team.

Within this role, you will be pivotal in keeping Battersea's centres running, as the first point of contact for customers, covering the helpdesk and office duties, administering the stock system, ordering supplies and managing POs, and carrying out general health and safety administrative tasks.

We are looking for someone who has experience of working collaboratively with colleagues from different teams, has strong organisational skills and experience of delivering high quality administrative work and customer service.

AAFDA was founded by Frank Mullane in memory of his sister Julia Pemberton and her son Will who were both killed by her ex-partner in 2003.

Each year, around 150 families lose a loved one to domestic homicide. The actual number of suicides as a result of domestic abuse remains unknown.  Most of these families suffer significant problems including relationship breakdown, job difficulties/loss and mental and physical health issues. We help these families in many ways, our prime function being to provide families in England and Wales with specialist peer support and expert and specialist advocacy for the range of statutory reviews that will take place after domestic homicide.

AAFDA (Advocacy After Fatal Domestic Abuse) is a growing Charity and to meet the demands of this growth, we are looking for an exceptional candidate to join our team in a highly rewarding opportunity. Although home based, some travel will be required - frequency will be commensurate to the role. We welcome applications from candidates with experience of domestic abuse.  We are also committed to diversity and strongly encourage applications from those with Black and/or Minoritised backgrounds.

Our Specialist Advocates support families impacted by fatal domestic abuse through provision of lay advocacy for and on behalf of families with a range of statutory service providers (e.g. those conducting reviews and inquiries, social services, police, housing) and work to build good relations between all parties.  To ensure that families get the support they need, you will use AAFDA’s Home Office endorsed seven-step approach to working with individuals and families, to ensure that they receive the best possible support and advocacy to restore dignity and relief for families and to help them cope and recover. Through trauma-informed approaches, you will:

• listen to families and advocate for them in a complex system that too often treats them as passive participants and overlooks the value of their insight;
• provide information, support, guidance, advice and advocacy on Domestic Homicide Reviews, Mental Health Reviews, Inquests, Independent Office of Police Conduct inquiries and other types of Inquiries;
• manage families’ expectations of the legal and procedural processes facing them by supporting families in meetings with agencies such as health, police and local authorities;
• give families practical help on a wide range of issues - including help with letter writing or advocating with employers and local authorities on the families’ behalf;
• Support AAFDA in our bringing families together in AAFDA’s peer support events, such as the Hear Our Voice weekend and the on-line peer support Zoom sessions, where families can speak with others to share their experiences and stories. This will involve occasional evening work.

This role is offered on a full-time basis.

We are looking for an experienced leader to run our Crosslight Branch, staff and volunteers in West Kent (with locations in across Tonbridge, Sevenoaks and Tunbridge Wells), and to provide debt advice, case management, and money education to Crosslight’s service users. 

Our ideal candidate has prior debt advice experience combined with experience of leading and supervising staff and volunteers. We understand that these are unique skills and therefore if you have leadership experience gained in other social welfare settings, there may be an opportunity to train as a debt advisor if you can demonstrate that you possess the skills, maturity and determination to become proficient in this element. 

• 3-5 days per week (flexible working options considered)

• Hybrid working: it is expected that a minimum of 3 days per week will be spent working at locations where we have offices or where we provide services to our clients

• Based in Tonbridge with travel to West Kent sites, and occasional travel to London
