Job description

About The Role

Our wetland centres shape unforgettable experiences for our visitors to engage with wetland wildlife and learn more about the amazing work  WWT does to conserve wetlands and species around the world.

In this role you will play a part in helping to manage the site, keeping it safe and tidy, ready to welcome our visitors and share our story.

You might find yourself:

  • Helping with the maintenance of our visitor areas including vegetation weeding, clearing, pruning, coppicing and planting.
  • Repairing and maintaining pathways and edging.
  • Repairing and replacing timber fences, gates and barriers, painting and preserving where it's needed.
  • Preparing the Centre for opening: checking and cleaning paths and rails, emptying bins, and replenishing sanitizer units around the grounds.
  • Ensuring the safety, welfare and enjoyment of yourself and our visitors
  • Keeping up to date with WWT news and talking to visitors about events and activities that might spark their interest.

Volunteers are an essential part of the WWT team. You'll get a warm welcome, including information on training, equipment and anything else you need.

About You

If you are looking for a volunteer role that will make use of your practical skills in a beautiful environment, close to nature, this might be the role for you.

You'll be part of a close knit team, making a real contribution to our conservation work and making a real difference to the experience of people who visit our site.
