Job description

It is fantastic that you would like to find out more about volunteering at St Mungo’s. Can you sing or play the drums? Would you enjoy performing African/ African American music for an audience of clients and staff, to celebrate and raise awareness about Black History Month in October?

In this role, you will be supporting us with all or some of the following tasks:

  •  Performing music for approximately three hours, for our clients (adults experiencing or recovering from homelessness) and staff to enjoy
  •  Adhering to St Mungo’s Policies and Procedures at all times.

Do I need to have any specific skills?

  • To be experienced in or skilled in performing African drumming – and to be able to provide your own drum, whether this be a bongo or a Djebe or a similar type of drum
  • Alternatively, to be able to sing and perform jazz, or blues or soul (or another similar type of music)
  • To be sensitive to performing in a medium-support needs homelessness hostel
  • An understanding of the causes of homelessness and its impact.
  • Genuine interest in and commitment to St Mungo’s work and client group.
  • An understanding of and commitment to diversity & equality.

Black History Month, on October 26th. This is a one-off volunteer role for this event only.
