Volunteer Treasurer for the Wokingham Film Society

Wokingham Film Society  is a not-for-personal-profit social enterprise formed in 2013, which shows films at the Whitty Theatre in Wokingham, to encourage interest in film as an art form, and to promote the understanding and appreciation of film.

We screen around 18-20 films each year, sometimes in cooperation with  other community organisations; we provide a range of films in consultation with our audiences, including some “relaxed screenings” for people living with dementia. We are a membership organisation (providing discounts for members), with all screenings also open to the public.

We run WFS as a voluntary Board of Directors and have no employees; we also recruit and encourage volunteers to assist with all aspects of the Society’s operations.

As a Community Interest Company (No. 08570515), we are governed by our Directors, including Chair and Treasurer. It’s that latter role we are looking to fill, to find someone interested in WFS who is able to manage and oversee our finances.

With a turnover of ~£8,000 p.a., and totals assets of ~£10,000, we’re not a large organisation.

Our Board of Directors meets approx. quarterly, in Wokingham (RG41 2TD) for about two hours.

You will be expected to be able to dedicate about eight hours per month to the role, sometimes more (at year-end) including preparation for and attendance at Board meetings; many of your duties may be carried out online and by phone/video, as well as face-to-face.
