About A Little Bit of Sunshine

A Little Bit of Sunshine is the youth-led charity uniting young voices with decision-makers to tackle the mental health crisis. Our mission is to secure a brighter future for young people by creating a platform for them to shape the services they access.

At A Little Bit of Sunshine, we believe in the power of youth voice and the importance of users of a service having a voice and feeling listened to. We are working to ensure that young people have a seat at the table when it comes to designing and delivering services to support their mental health and wellbeing.

Together, we champion meaningful change for a world where every young person feels valued and empowered to seek support when they need it. We want to help young people have a say in decisions that affect them.

About the Board

Our Board is youth-led and this round of appointments is only available to applicants aged between 16 and 25 years old.

Trustees are accountable for the proper and effective operation of the charity, giving strategic direction to the Chief Executive and the charity’s leadership team, ensuring the financial health and good financial management of the organisation, ensuring that the charity has sufficient funds to support its activities, and protecting the charity's reputation and independence.

We now have a number of trustee vacancies we wish to fill, to complement our existing Board and guide our successful and growing organisation into the next phase of development. We are therefore seeking someone who:

  • has experience of fundraising, or

  • has charity management or volunteering experience, or

  • has marketing experience, or

  • has finance experience

If you have a passion and commitment to support a value-driven organisation, strategic vision, independent judgement and a willingness to devote the necessary time and effort, we would be delighted to hear from you. Any travel and out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed. However, please note that this is a voluntary and unpaid position.

We are open to applications from people who have not served on a board before and will offer mentoring and support in skills development to enable full participation as a trustee. We understand that people can have different needs and will always work to accommodate them.

Application Process: Please complete the expression of interest form within the Trustee Information Pack by 30th June 2024.

Please read the attached document which gives additional details, and includes a link to what being a charity trustee involves, eligibility requirements and the main duties and requirements of trustees.
