JOB PURPOSE
UK for UNHCR is looking for a Digital Communications Officer to join its team, raising vital support for displaced people around the world through creative campaigns such as the Refugee Dictionary, Cuppa Hope as well as fundraising appeals and partnerships.
Reporting to the Digital Communications Manager, the Digital Communications Officer will have particular focus delivering day to day social media communications, including community management, publishing, content management and development. This role will also support wider digital communications activities, such as with the Senior Digital Communications Officer who manages the website.
This involves identifying opportunities to amplify appeals, campaigns and partnerships through social media to support UK for UNHCR’s fundraising and public advocacy objectives. Raising awareness of global refugee crises and UNHCR’s humanitarian operations forms a central part of this storytelling, as well as thematic campaigns and PR moments throughout the year.
One of your first focuses will be helping grow and verify UK for UNHCR’s TikTok account and LinkedIn presence, in addition to transitioning the charity’s channels to a new social media management tool. You will also work closely with the wider Communications team in supporting online and offline fundraising appeals.
The Digital Communications Officer will also work with the wider Communications team to identify and support storytellers (including refugees and supporters) to share their stories through the charity’s social media channels.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Planning, coordination and growth
- Deliver and schedule social media content on a daily and weekly basis, with flexibility to respond to news events and emergencies at short notice.
- Produce or commission multimedia content, including videos, graphics and photography to support charity activity on social media.
- Apply understanding of UNHCR’s humanitarian work to deliver strong storytelling and relevant content to the audience.
- Adapt content from UNHCR’s head office and field communications to localise for UK audiences.
- Develop social media editorial plans to amplify campaigns, milestones and events.
- Deliver planning and scheduling in a timely manner and be quick to respond to news and emergencies.
- Flag and navigate political sensitivities in line with UNHCR and charity policies.
- Deliver on a paid media strategy to amplify social media content more broadly, with a focus on Meta ads manager.
- Update and maintain community management guidelines on a regular basis.
- Work closely with the Communications Coordinator to monitor and moderate all of the charity’s social media channels.
- Other support for digital communications as required, such as helping cover website activities when colleagues are on leave.
Analytics, reporting and best practice
- Deliver regular reports outlining the performance of our content and channels, ensuring we’re on track to reach 100k followers by the end of 2026.
- Create and lead on a testing roadmap, leveraging new features across all social media channels.
- Keep up to date with social media content trends, news and tools to inform best practice and strategy.
- Provide subject matter expertise, proactive assistance and advice as required for planning and delivery of digital and supporter journey projects.
- Observe all legal and legislative requirements, comply with policies and procedures, and demonstrate a high level of confidentiality and integrity.

- Proficient in using social media tools to evaluate performance and identify improvements.
- Proficient in creating content for online use, using software such as Adobe Suite, Canva or similar, to edit and produce basic assets.

Working closely with the prison and their staff, people in prison, Shannon Trust volunteers and mentors, this post will lead the delivery and development of our prison-based reading and numeracy programme, maximising opportunities for people in prison to learn to read.
You will have some experience of prison settings, underpinned by the ability to build relationships and personal qualities that include resilience, determination and a problem-solving approach. This can be a tough environment, so the ability to work responsively, whilst feeling comfortable in a standalone role, is crucial.
This role is a fixed term role until 1st June 2025

The Role
This project has been funded by the Mental Health Investment Fund for one year and will build on the programme that was originally funded by Green Social Prescribing funding. A number of nature-based activities have been planned for the programme, both on-line and face-to-face. There will be some partnership working with St Mark’s Church at Great Tattenham’ s, Surrey, who partnered in the application.
You will be required to work alongside the full-time area Co-ordinators and the Volunteer Co-ordinator to ensure that activities are supported and promoted in each area of Surrey Downs. Local venues for activities may need to be sourced so that clients do not have to travel far to take part.
The role will include arranging activities, booking venues, completing risk assessments, promoting the service and activities, and managing registers and attendances. You will also need to work within a budget when accessing resources and staffing.
You will also be responsible for ensuring that activities are adequately staffed and will work with the Activities Co-ordinator to find appropriate staff when necessary, ensuring all facilitator requirements are met.
It may be necessary to facilitate some activities to ensure groups can run.
About You
You will have experience of working directly with vulnerable adults (preferably with mental ill-health), working within the health & social care sector and of working in outdoor activities.

We are recruiting two Mentoring Project Officers to support the Project Manager in delivering our high-quality 1-year Mentoring Programme that supports young carers aged 14-16 to achieve goals tailored to their needs. Each cohort will be delivered through a combination of 1:1 mentoring and monthly groups with a maximum of 8 mentees and 2 mentors. The programme aims to help the mentees improve their educational attainment, identify routes into further and/or higher education and apprenticeships, increase independence skills, build confidence, access appropriate services, reduce isolation and build resilience.
We are looking for an individual who is passionate about supporting young carers to reach their full potential. We do not expect you to have direct experience of mentoring nor working with young carers but we do expect you to have empathy, good listening skills and a strong knowledge of the needs and common challenges of young people aged 14-16 with a desire to make a real difference in their lives.
You will be responsible for building and maintaining strong partnerships with community organisations and to generate and maintain steady referrals to the programme. You will be required to assess young carers’ needs and in conjunction with the other Mentoring Project Officer, deliver one-to-one and group support to the mentees, carefully monitoring their progress. Further to this, you will be responsible for responding to safeguarding concerns and maintaining strong professional boundaries.

The Involvement & Engagement Officer will play a crucial role in delivering the new patient and public involvement and engagement strategy for Alzheimer’s Research UK. The role forms part of the Involvement & Engagement team, which sits in the Information and Involvement (I&I) department.
The team acts as a focal point for patient and public involvement at the charity, working to ensure that people with lived experience shape and inform projects and activity across ARUK. You will help to manage a key group of lived experience involvement volunteers, facilitate and deliver involvement activity and set the standards and processes for meaningful involvement.
The team also delivers public engagement initiatives, with the aim of making dementia research accessible and inspiring to the public through events and participatory projects and supporting researchers to deliver engagement. The team also supports fundraising colleagues and activities through helping to embed and enhance ways to engage supporters with dementia research.
The team forms part of the busy Policy, Communications & Involvement directorate and works closely with colleagues both within the directorate and across the charity. The I&I department’s mission is to improve understanding of dementia and the diseases which cause it and encourage and support the public and people affected by dementia to get involved in research.
This is a 12-month fixed term contract to cover a period of maternity leave.
Main duties and responsibilities of the role:
· Working with the Involvement & Engagement Manager, implement ARUK’s public involvement and engagement strategy.
· Facilitate, plan and deliver the work of the Lived Experience Involvement Group, including liaising with members and providing dementia specific assistance, arranging logistics for meetings, responding to queries, liaising with internal stakeholders.
· Support the recruitment of new lived experience representatives, with a focus on improving representation from people with a dementia diagnosis and those from underserved communities.
· Responsibility to ensure records relating to involvement work are kept up to date in line with ARUK policies and procedures.
· Helping to develop and deliver training on engagement and involvement for the Group, colleagues and the research community, working with the Research Involvement Manager.
· Work closely with the Policy team, sharing knowledge and insights and supporting their work to involve people with lived experience. Collaborate on special projects relating to involvement as appropriate.
· Act as a champion for public involvement across ARUK, effectively communicating the importance of involvement in the charity’s work and supporting colleagues to effectively incorporate involvement into key projects and initiatives.
· Working with the Involvement & Engagement Manager to produce ongoing evaluation of the involvement and engagement programme, proactively coming up with suggestions for new initiatives and continuous improvement of the programme.
· Working with the Involvement & Engagement Manager, deliver Inspire Fund, our public engagement grant scheme. Manage the application and post-award processes, maintain engagement with grant holders and support them in the delivery of their projects.
· Seek opportunities for public facing activity, that engage people with the topic of dementia and the importance of research, in line with ARUK’s strategic goals.
· Support colleagues to effectively engage with their audiences, creating and maintaining compelling activities and resources that bring dementia research to life.
· Keep up to date with patient and public engagement and involvement sectors to identify emerging knowledge and best practice that might benefit ARUK’s work. Take part in groups that support professional development around involvement and engagement.

About Care4Calais and the Legal Access Department
Care4Calais is a volunteer-based charity providing essential aid and support for refugees in France and the UK.
In northern France we operate year-round from Calais, working alongside communities in Calais and Dunkirk to provide warm clothing, bedding and service provision to displaced people who live in appalling and dangerous conditions.
Across the UK we collect and distribute clothes, shoes, mobile phones and other essential items, as well as providing social support and interaction, including language lessons, sport and music workshops. We also help with vital access to medical and educational services.
Our Legal Access Department is an access to justice project that exists to support people seeking asylum in the UK by facilitating access to legal representation and offering holistic support to people throughout the asylum process. The department, made up mostly of specially trained volunteers, works tirelessly to ensure that people feel informed, empowered, and far less isolated and alone. We conduct one-to-one, complex casework for people seeking asylum for a variety of matters, over the years we have supported thousands of people to secure legal representation. Our current casework channels include securing legal representation and support for people’s asylum claims, challenges to unsuitable accommodation and potential removal from the UK (for example under the previous Rwanda policy), and support of young people in their age dispute matters. Our teams work remotely across the UK. The Department seeks to adapt and amend our services based on the needs of the communities that we work with.
About the role
The aim of the role is to support and inspire volunteer casework teams to undertake the individual one-to-one casework and support that lies at the heart of what the Legal Access Department does, furthering access to justice for people seeking asylum and refugees. Student Action for Refugees is the national network of students building a society where refugees and asylum seekers are welcomed and can thrive. Set up by students at the University of Nottingham in 1994, we are an inclusive network with UK students, students from refugee backgrounds and international students working together to make change.
We are a membership charity and the members are STAR student union society groups. A small staff team train and support the network and lead on national projects, campaign and advocacy work.
People who arrive in the UK after fleeing war and persecution face many challenges in both claiming their right to asylum and in building new lives. Challenges that result from a hostile policy environment, negative public attitudes, unhelpful media narrative, a lack of access to services and barriers to higher education.
Our network of STAR student societies and activists is creating a more understanding, just and welcoming society. - Maintain and deliver a schedule of applications and reporting to grant makers, including prospecting for new funders
- Working across departments, to help develop creative projects for funders that include well balanced and reasoned budgets, which are attractive and align with NRAS objectives
- Understand the funding landscape from grants, trusts and foundations to maximise the charity’s opportunities and to manage expectations internally around projecting income
2. Position in Organisation
The post holder will report to the COO. This role is part of the wider fundraising team.
The post holder will work closely with:
- External fundraising contacts e.g. key contacts within Trusts who support the charity, potential High Net Worth Individuals
- External industry contacts
- Other charities and health professional organisations
3. Qualifications and Skills/Experience
High levels of literacy and numeracy
Desirable: Degree level or equivalent, Fundraising qualification
· Experience of writing successful applications to grant and charitable trusts (or equivalent)
· Developing income from trusts, foundations and grant-giving bodies
· Demonstrable fundraising experience and achievements
· Understanding and implementation of fundraising techniques and processes
· Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
· Work with volunteers
· Understanding of voluntary sector
· Understanding of the health sector
· Working with High Net Worth individuals
Knowledge:
· Excellent written and oral communication skills
· Proficient use of Microsoft Word; Excel; PowerPoint
· Proficient use of databases and data management
· Use of Salesforce database
· Understanding of the health environmen
· Understanding of rheumatoid arthritis and its treatment

4. Main Duties and Key Responsibilities
Fundraising
- Identify new supporters and potential funders
- Prepare and submit well-written, compelling and complete funding applications
- Develop existing relationships with Trusts and Grant giving bodies as well as with high level supporters
Development
- Identify, develop and support ways for NRAS to increase income through grants fundraising
Marketing
- Work with Marketing and Communications, where appropriate, to develop and create compelling cases for support and reports to existing funders
Management
- Participate in, and contribute to, team meetings
Other Duties
- Possible travel throughout the UK, involving some overnight stays
- Attendance and participation in team meetings
- Any other duties as requested
