Purpose
We seek to appoint an experienced Project Development Officer to manage the
Stricklandgate House 4 Sustainable Heritage Project (SGH4SH). Do you have substantial
experience in project management, heritage, community engagement and the third
sector?

We are looking for someone to lead and manage our National Lottery Heritage Fund
Project: Stricklandgate House 4 Sustainable Heritage: Where heritage meets the day-today
(SGH4SH).

Introduction
Stricklandgate House (SGH) is a Grade II listed Georgian Building, which has a fascinating,
varied history and heritage significant to Georgian Kendal. Stricklandgate House Trust (SGHT)
took over ownership of the building in 1998.

SGH operates as a centre for charitable and voluntary organisations for the area. SGH supports
and promotes the charitable and voluntary sector in the delivery of their services by providing
reasonably priced accommodation, common services, facilities, and support. SGHT also
provides counselling space and conference and meeting facilities.

SGHT are the stewards of the building and its heritage; responsible for preserving, enhancing,
and promoting the heritage of the building.

Project Overview
We have been successful with a stage one application to the National Lottery Heritage Fund to
redevelop and enhance Stricklandgate House to become a heritage and community hub in
addition to strengthening is core business of supporting the third sector.

The reimagined building will feature exhibition space for heritage and culture, a community hub
in the centre of Kendal and a strengthened Third Sector hub. It will involve the redevelopment of
a modern annex that separates the Georgian town house from the historic Coach House and
will rediscover and enhance the Georgian features of the Town house, service wing and Coach
House.

The project will deliver a programme of heritage activities in collaboration with heritage
organisations and charities and encourage heritage engagement with underserved groups.
Heritage information and interpretation will feature on site and the building will be enabled to
move to net zero. We will provide engaging information and interpretation about the way in
which we have moved to net zero to inspire others and become an example of how a building of
heritage can be manged sustainably.

The community hub will deliver community facing activities and events in collaboration with
community organisations and local councils.

The project is summarised below in terms of outcomes and objectives:
• Outcome: An accessible, rich, valued, and sustainable heritage setting that strengthens
the charitable, voluntary and community sector in Kendal and Westmorland and Furness
in the delivery of their services.
o Objective 1: The conservation and interpretation of the built and historic heritage
of SGH, growing engagement, understanding, appreciation and value within our
local communities and with visitors.
o Objective 2: Increasing the supply of attractive, fit for purpose accommodation
and meeting space, flexible and affordable in use.
o Objective 3: Create a vibrant community hub for heritage engagement and
community activities and events.
o Objective 4: Address the challenges of climate change by actively pursuing net
zero, showcasing the technology and becoming an exemplar of a heritage
building sustainably managed.

Role Purpose

To manage the Stricklandgate House 4 Sustainable Heritage Project (SGH4SH).  

Principal Activities

1. Responsible for project planning and project delivery.
2. Responsible for budget management, and the production of accurate and timely financial and project delivery reports.
3. Ensure that appropriate policies and procedures are developed where necessary.
4. Ensure that finance and procurement rules are followed.
5. Supervise the Community Engagement Officer and the work of Specialist Consultants in Heritage Interpretation and Audience Development.
6. Together with the Community Engagement Officer and Project Board, lead on the production of the Activity Plan.
7. Support the Community Engagement Officer in the delivery of pilot engagement activities
8. Participate in the development of building and conservation design options
9. Develop and deliver a communications plan for the project.
10. Assist the Centre Manager in the delivery of the Fundraising Strategy
11. Develop the engagement and contribution of partner organisations with Stricklandgate House
12. Lead on the design of the monitoring and evaluation plan and ensure that appropriate data and information is collated and recorded.
13. Liaise with the design team and Clerk of Works to ensure that build design and delivery remains on schedule and within budget.

We are seeking an experienced individual to oversee all aspects of the Trust’s property management in line with the Malvern Hills Acts.  Reporting to the CEO, the candidate will be responsible for the safe provision of visitor infrastructure, boundary and real property management, land acquisition, licensing and planning across the estate.

· Educated to a degree standard or equivalent by experience

· Hold a chartered surveyor qualification or be working towards it

About this job

We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced individual with experience in project management who also loves working directly with the people we support. The ability to communicate to a wide range of audiences and deliver the project objectives will be essential for this role.

This is a ‘time-limited’ ‘test and learn’ externally funded project. The ‘Community Connections project’ – will help people living with and affected by MS to navigate support services ensuring that they have access to the support they require, at the time of their choice, and is delivered in a way that best suits their individual needs.

This is a fixed-term project until March 2026.This is a full time role comprising of 35 hours per week.

This role is specifically focused on South West England and will require extensive travel to regions such as Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Bristol, Gloucestershire, and Wiltshire. Home working will be considered for applicants residing outside these regions.

Working closely with people affected by MS, Key external partners, our funder Wales and West Utilities, the Service and Support Team, the Cymru Director, and the wider MS Society teams. You will be outcome-focused and deliver tangible results. You will need to forge strong partnerships with key stakeholders and represent the MS Society at key meetings and events in the project area.

This role can be based anywhere in Wales but there will be an expectation of travel throughout Wales and the project area (Wales, Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Bristol, Gloucestershire, and Wiltshire), the ability to speak Welsh is desirable.

GIS and Data Insights Officer

This new role will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance on leveraging GIS and other technologies along with best practice data management and analysis across the Trust. You will enable data-led projects and encourage and support the exploration of new technologies. You will support the Trust in building its analysis, insight and reporting capabilities across a diverse range of areas such as sustainability, organisational performance, evidencing impact and inspirational storytelling.

Excellent co-ordination, collaboration and delivery skills are essential to allow you to support and enable the organisation to build on strong foundations and leverage a range of exciting technologies and data to create even greater impact.

The post offers an excellent opportunity for a candidate with strong systems and data experience who is keen to collaborate and enable others in a supportive environment.

We are looking for a Catering Manager to join our team who can inspire and empower Companions, through support and training, to create healthy and nutritious meals both in the Community Kitchen and in our Café @ Emmaus. They say an army marches on its stomach and that is certainly the case here at Emmaus.The Community Kitchen provides hot meals and salads for Companions, staff and volunteers and the Café @ Emmaus serves home-made fare for our visitors.

The successful applicant will be part of the management team, led by the Chief Executive and will have key responsibilities within that team. We are looking for someone with a passion to take our Café and Community kitchen to the next level by
offering excellent home made food prepared by Companions using ingredients grown here on site. A friendly nature is a must as well as experience working with different dietary and allergy requirements.

You will be joining a friendly and enthusiastic team who are passionate about what they do. The Courtauld is an internationally renowned university for art history, offering a range of degree programmes to appeal to art historians, conservators and curators.  Our Gallery is set in the magnificent Somerset House, and is home to much loved masterpieces by Van Gogh, Monet & Renoir to name a few.  We have an income of £30m and employ 337 staff.

Our new Director of Finance will play a lead role in developing and implementing financial management and reporting strategies to help meet our financial objectives. 

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, your key responsibilities will include;

Working alongside the Director and Board of Trustees, the Director of Finance oversees the strategic, business and financial management of the organisation. The successful candidate will be a qualified Accountant with a proven track record of operating at a senior level and with the ability to offer insight and challenge for future development whilst ensuring the financial sustainability and growth of Whitechapel Gallery.

The Director of Finance is responsible for the efficient and effective leadership and management of the Gallery’s finance, governance and commercial activities. With scrupulously high standards, they will drive the quality and transparency of financial management and reporting, ensuring robust financial controls and the smooth running and management of the Gallery’s finances. A key member of the senior leadership team, the Director of Finance contributes to shaping and implementing the Gallery’s strategic development.

Candidates will be able to demonstrate a proven ability in leadership and financial control within a complex organisation, managing people and limited resources effectively, delivering results, thinking strategically and inspiring and motivating others. They will need to demonstrate a high degree of energy and agility, with the ability to build highly effective, collaborative working relationships at all levels of the organisation. The new Director of Finance will demonstrate a high level of financial and business acumen and strategic insight and will possess strong analytical and project management skills.

With experience at Board level, they must be comfortable with presenting to Boards and with the ability to develop strategy and present business plans.

Previous experience of the gallery and museum sector would be desirable but is not essential, and applications are welcomed from candidates with commercial, charitable and private sector backgrounds.
