Key information:  

Location: Remote working. (UK only) Must be able to attend a minimum of 5 mandatory meetings per year (includes overnight stay for 2-day meetings) at our office in Shrewsbury and occasional meetings elsewhere. 
Contract: Permanent. Full time 37.5 hours a week.  

Salary: Between £30,000 – £35,000 a year depending on experience.

Job Purpose  

To maximise income for Village Water’s work from corporates (UK and International) & to develop and manage your own portfolio of existing corporates and research and prioritise new opportunities ensuring high quality stewardship to secure ongoing support. This role will focus on networking, delivering compelling pitches to corporates, organise and support corporate fundraising events, preparing high-quality funding applications and reports, providing exceptional account management, and fostering cross-team collaboration. 

Responsibilities  

Corporate Fundraising 

• Develop, implement, and sustain a dynamic corporate fundraising portfolio, maintaining a well-organised pipeline of funding opportunities. 

• Attend and contribute to networking events, while actively organising events to foster relationships with new and existing corporate donors. 

• Identify and pursue corporate funding opportunities by aligning proposals with companies' ESG policies, emphasising shared values and potential partnerships. 

• Establish and nurture relationships with Donor Advised Funds (DAFs) to unlock new support avenues. 

• Work closely with colleagues to develop compelling proposals and reports that effectively communicate the organisation's impact and funding needs. 

• Coordinate with monitoring and finance teams to ensure timely and accurate reporting to donors, adhering to grant conditions and budget requirements. 

• Maintain precise and well-managed donor information in the organisation’s database to facilitate efficient tracking and follow-up. 

• Organise pop-up events for and with corporate partners to enhance engagement and visibility. 

• Support fundraising team with social media content ideas that highlight our activities and showcases the impact. 

General   

• Work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, external suppliers, and local partners to advance organisational goals. 

• Participate in and report during weekly team meetings and, when necessary, at Trustee meetings. 

• Provide assistance for other fundraising initiatives as needed, promoting a collaborative work environment and supporting the overall fundraising efforts of the organisation. 

• Ensure compliance with the organisation's safeguarding policies by completing all required training. 

Skills and experience: 

• Demonstrated ability to secure funds from new corporate partners, with experience in winning awards exceeding £10,000. 

• Confident and skilled in delivering presentations to a diverse range of supporters, whether in groups, individually, in person, or remotely. 

• Proven experience in crafting persuasive cases for support and donor updates that motivate giving. 

• Expertise in building and maintaining strong donor relationships to ensure sustained support. 

• Strong writing skills for creating compelling cases for support and effectively presenting the organisation’s work to potential donors. 

• Ability to develop, analyse, and interpret budgets and financial information. 

• Proficient in using databases for fundraising performance analysis.

About the team

Our Retail Internal Audit Team is a vital component within the overarching BHF Risk & Assurance Strategy, seamlessly integrated into the three lines of our defence model. An essential hallmark of our team is its proactive approach, offering unwavering support to the Retail Directorate. Working requirements

This is a field-based position, working from home with extensive travel across the South East of England. You'll need to live within this area. Regular overnight stays will be required. 

The South East Region covers Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, East Sussex, Essex, Greater London (South), Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Kent, Norfolk, Suffolk, Surrey, and West Sussex.

About you

To be successful in this role you'll have:

• proven retail audit experience and/or extensive experience in charity retail, possibly in roles like Shop or Store Manager, Regional Support Manager, or Area Manager
• an entry-level qualification in Internal Auditing or Health & Safety, such as CIA or IOSH or as minimum retail management experience providing a solid foundation for audit-related responsibilities
• in-depth knowledge of shop and store operations, including till operations and financial systems, ideally gained in a charity environment
• experience in conducting compliance, operational, security, and health and safety audits
• experience conducting investigations, collecting evidence, preparing reports, and training and supporting staff to improve performance
• strong personal integrity, able to make independent judgements without external influence, as well as excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, fostering strong relationships with auditees, internal stakeholders, and senior management
• ability to manage time and workload effectively with minimal supervision and be skilled at both collaborative teamwork and leading audits, investigations, and projects

The UK Men’s Sheds Association (UKMSA) is seeking a skilled and inspirational CEO to lead our charity through the next stage of its development and the continued delivery of our core mission of improving the lives and wellbeing of men (and women) through the Men’s Shed movement across the UK.

We are looking for a Chief Executive with the energy, vision and experience to take on the strategic leadership and direction of our well-respected and fast-growing national charity, which brings tangible benefits to men’s health, mental health and suicide prevention across the UK. As UKMSA’s public face, the CEO must also be adept at showcasing our work, including in the media and to parliamentary and other government bodies.

The Nystagmus Network is seeking a Development Coordinator to help build on our core services and develop new ones to meet the growing and changing needs of the nystagmus community and to support income generation to ensure those services can continue to be funded. At The Cancer Treatment and Research Trust, our mission is to enable our consultants and scientists to translate laboratory research into clinical trials and new life-saving treatments.

The successful candidate will oversee the day to management of the charity, ensure effective fundraising activity, provide support for the Board of Trustees and facilitate the smooth running of the charity. As part of this you will ensure the accounts are prepared in a timely way with the assistance of our book keeper and accountants. You will also work with our web-designer to ensure the website is kept up to date and the annual charity report and return are prepared and submitted on-time.

You will oversee all fundraising activity including maintaining existing campaigns and our CRM system, and provide excellent stewardship to supporters, responding to enquiries, thanking them in a timely manner and supporting supporters with their fundraising activities. People & Culture

• Lead the review and development of HR policies and processes to ensure that they embody People’s Economy’s values, and support effective working and staff wellbeing, drawing in external expertise as necessary.

• Lead the development and implementation of recruitment processes for staff vacancies, ensuring compliance with People’s Economy’s recruitment policy and employment law.

• Lead the implementation of formal HR processes e.g. disciplinary processes, contract variations, and act as the key point of contact with People’s Economy’s external HR advisers. 

• Contribute to the development of organisational culture and values and ensure that they are embedded, promoted and enacted throughout the organisation.

• Lead review and development of People’s Economy’s safeguarding policy, processes and practice including staff and trustee training.

• Lead the work to build and maintain staff health and safety and wellbeing, through developing appropriate systems, processes and practices.

• Undertake day-to-day HR administration, including leave booking and sickness absence recording. 

Operations

• Develop policies, systems and processes to support the effective functioning of the organisation and (with support from the Programme Director) which support the implementation of programme and project delivery.

• Develop and maintain People’s Economy’s IT systems, including working with external providers to review IT security. 

• Lead on regularly reviewing and updating People’s Economy’s remote and hybrid working policies and supporting colleagues to access suitable equipment and workspace to carry out their roles.

• Support the Programme Director set up and manage the operation of People’s Economy’s monitoring, evaluation and learning systems and their embedding across the organisation.

• Support the Executive Director to implement People’s Economy’s Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-Oppression (DIAO) policy and lead the annual process of reviewing and updating the policy, and relevant organisational systems and processes to support the implementation of the policy. 

Finance

• Lead People’s Economy’s financial management and control, including:

  • Manage People’s Economy’s book-keeping and payroll providers to ensure that high quality records of income and expenditure are maintained and the smooth operation of supplier payments, invoicing, payroll and pensions contributions.

  • Oversee the timely production of regular financial reporting including management accounts, cash forecasting and quarterly reporting to the Board. Scrutinise regular finance reports and work to resolve any issues identified. 

  • Liaise with People’s Economy’s accountant and manage the annual process of independent examination and producing year-end reports and accounts.

• Lead on financial planning, including the preparation of an annual organisational budget and lead on updating budget information throughout the year.

• Create systems and processes to support staff to develop and manage budgets for the programmes and projects that they are leading.

• With support from the Executive Director, lead the development of organisational business plans and monitoring of progress against them, including reporting on progress to the Trustee Board.

• Lead on maintaining robust and up-to-date information about the organisation’s income pipeline. 

• Lead on fundraising administration:

  • Track progress against income targets ensuring information is kept up to date and regularly updating the Executive Director on the position.

  • Manage funder reporting and invoicing, working closely with colleagues leading funder relationships and with People’s Economy’s book-keeping provider.

Governance and Legal

• Lead on compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements including data protection, employment law, health and safety, and charity law.

• Ensure that People’s Economy has appropriate insurance in place.

• Lead on Trustee Board administration and support the good functioning of the Board, including by managing trustee recruitment processes when required.

• Lead on maintaining the organisational risk register and reporting on it to the Trustee Board. 

• Work with the Executive Director to ensure that there are effective mechanisms to ensure the robustness of external and internal controls (financial and non-financial).

Line Management

• Oversee People’s Economy’s book-keeping providers, and line manage possible future roles, supporting post-holders to carry out their roles effectively and to develop professionally.

The Policy and Campaigns Manager is responsible for leading on CLAPA’s campaigning and policy work across the UK.  This is a new direction for CLAPA and a key part of the role will be to develop a clear strategy and action plan to ensure a focused and targeted approach to this area of work.

Mind in Enfield and Barnet is a fast-growing charity in North London providing much needed therapy, wellbeing support and advocacy services to people with mental health problems. 

 An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified and experienced Accountant to strategically lead and develop the finance team of Mind in Enfield and Barnet.

The role will:

• lead on managing financial sustainability and the assets of the organisation
• ensure compliance to all law and regulation relating to charity finance
• support the CEO in ensuring the effective governance of the organisation 

Duties will include working closely with the CEO and senior leadership team on developing the organisation and managing change to sustain and grow the organisation. The successful candidate will also work with the team on potential new funded projects, inputting into proposal/bids. They will provide financial oversight of bid preparation and business development opportunities, and have a strategic overview and management of the finances for all service projects and levels of staffing to sustain projects and growth for the organisation.

Finance duties

• Work with the CEO to ensure good financial practices in place and bring to the immediate attention of the CEO, SLT, the Finance & HR Committee (FHRC) and Trustees, as appropriate, any and all areas of financial and risk control.
• Manage the overall financial strategy, preparing 3-year plans, budgets, forecasts & monthly management accounts which are prepared accurately and delivered in a timely manner.
• Produce and monitor a cash flow forecast and highlight any risks to the organisation.
• Monitor and explain variances and ensure timely action to correct any issues.
• Together with HR, prepare monthly payroll instruction, check payroll and organise timely payment. Work with HR, to ensure HR documentation is consistent with payroll and forecast.
• Ensure all sales and purchase transactions are processed in a timely and accurate manner. Work with SLT to ensure necessary  in place contractual and purchase order documentation  in place for income.  
• Maintain accounting controls and implement policies and procedures which meet the requirements of SORP and ensure a secure and confidential financial system with appropriate backups. 
• Manage financial audits including all necessary preparatory work and interface with auditors.
• Identify areas for financial process improvement and streamlining.

Education & Qualification

•  Educated to at least degree
• Qualified accountant (CA, ACCA or CIMA)

This is a part time position, (14 hours per week), based remotely. You will be expected to attend Barnet (N12) and Enfield (N9) offices when necessary.

This role will be within the small, dedicated Finance team, supporting the Head of Finance with the day-to-day running of financial operations and general finance enquiries.

This role is for 30 hours per week which can be worked across four or five days (Monday to Friday)

Roles & Responsibilities

· Manage the purchase ledger function efficiently and accurately

· Processing of invoices and expenses into the accounting system Xero

· Matching of purchase orders with invoices and requesting of approvals

· Managing payment processes for all suppliers and expenses with supporting documentation

· Maintaining the purchase order log, raising of purchase orders from approval requests

· Communicating with suppliers regarding of invoice queries

· Setting up of new supplier accounts and maintaining existing account details

· Liaising with the Trustees regarding the payments, and agreeing a quarterly payment rota

· Monitoring the monthly progress for all Grants, including reconciliations and preparation of the monthly payments

· Assisting the Head of Finance with the preparation of the monthly management accounts, to include balance sheet reconciliations and journals and other related ad hoc tasks

We are a virtual organisation, and all work from our respective homes, however we meet up weekly on Teams, and meet up at least twice a year (in person) for our team events.

What skills we are looking for in a candidate:

· AAT qualified

· Proven experience as a Purchase Ledger Clerk or similar role

· High attention to detail and ability to work within strict deadlines

· High degree of accuracy and strong numeracy skills

Location: Remote working. (UK only) Must be able to attend a minimum of 5 mandatory meetings per year (includes overnight stay for 2-day meetings) at our office in Shrewsbury and occasional meetings elsewhere. 

Contract: Permanent. Full time 37.5 hours a week.  

Salary: Between £30,000 – £33,000 a year depending on experience.

Job Purpose  

Working across fundraising and communications you will develop and manage your own portfolio of existing Trusts and Foundations, community and individual donors, and research and prioritise new opportunities ensuring high quality stewardship to secure ongoing support. This role will focus on producing high-quality applications and reports to funders and by providing excellent account management and cross-team collaboration.  You will play a vital role in communicating our work through compelling positive case studies, stories, impacts, and images, to raise our profile and motivate people to give via supporting digital campaigns, website and social media channels. Engaging new, existing donors and all stakeholders via all communication streams is key. 

Responsibilities  

Trust Fundraising  

• Develop, manage, and maintain a trust and foundations fundraising portfolio with a clear, scheduled pipeline of funding applications, coordinating opportunities and team resources to meet targets.

• Cultivate strong working relationships with current and new trust and foundations, proactively seeking meetings, ensuring excellent relationship management.

• Collaborate with colleagues to create compelling proposals and reports.

• Work with monitoring and finance colleagues to inform impact and budgetary needs, ensuring timely reporting to donors in line with their grant conditions.

• Build resilient, long-term relationships with identified supporters, keeping them well-informed about events, campaigns, projects, and the charity itself, to foster a strong sense of belonging to Village Water, ensuring excellent stewardship.

• Use multiple research methods and communication channels to build and manage a prospective donor pipeline.

• Research and write applications to grant-making trusts, targeting an amount in line with Village Water's annual budget, with an emphasis on securing unrestricted funds where possible.

• Ensure all information on your portfolio of donors is well stewarded, recorded, and actioned in Village Water's database.

• Develop ad-hoc events and campaigns both in person and via Zoom, recruiting and managing volunteers where necessary.

• Send personalised thank-you communications and updates to individual supporters, manage ongoing engagement with regular donors, and oversee the distribution of physical milestone cards to celebrate significant achievements.

Communications:

• Create and curate a calendar of multimedia content to increase engagement and audience reach through digital and traditional marketing materials, social media posts, e-newsletters, and our website.

• Support the development and management of Village Water’s website, ensuring content and architecture are up to date, consistent, and engagingly showcase our work, current campaigns, news stories and calls to action.

• Lead on the development of paid for digital campaigns including budgeting, A/B testing, asset creation, copywriting, and reporting.

• Create a range of digital graphics and assets, including animations, images, videos, banners, and infographics.

• Design printed marketing items - such as reports, leaflets, flyers, banners, and signage.

• Develop a timeline for the ‘comms hub’ remote capacity building for the local partners in Zambia and Mozambique to train in specific comms activities, gather material and share learning.

General   

• Work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, external suppliers, and local partners to advance organisational goals. 

• Attend networking events and build relationships that benefit Village Water. 

• Participate in and report during weekly team meetings and, when necessary, at Trustee meetings. 

• Provide assistance for other fundraising initiatives as needed, promoting a collaborative work environment and supporting the overall fundraising efforts of the organisation. 

• Ensure compliance with the organisation's safeguarding policies by completing all required training. 

Skills and experience: 

• Demonstrable success in securing grants, including awards between £20-£100k. 

• Confident and effective communicator with excellent presentation skills, able to engage with a range of supporters in groups, individually, face-to-face, and remotely. 

• Proven experience in writing compelling cases for support and supporter updates that inspire and persuade donors. 

• Experience with Canva, Adobe, Salesforce desirable. 

• Ability to develop, analyse, and interpret budgets and financial information. 

• Strong database skills, including experience in fundraising performance analysis.

About the Council
The role of Council is to lead on the GOC’s mission to protect the public by upholding high standards in the optical professions.  The Council is composed of six lay members (including the Chair) and six registrant members (i.e. registered optometrists and dispensing opticians).  At least one member of the Council must work wholly or mainly in each of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.  One Council member acts as a Senior Council Member whose role is to carry out the Chair’s appraisal as well as provide a sounding board for the Chair and serve as an intermediary for Council members, Executive and stakeholders as necessary. 

The successful candidate will contribute to Council by exercising oversight, ensuring effective corporate governance, and making high-level policy decisions. They will be able to operate strategically and impartially; listen, communicate, and influence effectively; exercise judgment; and inspire confidence and support amongst our stakeholders. 

Remuneration and time commitment

Council members are remunerated in accordance with our member fees policy (£13,962 per annum plus reasonable travel and subsistence expenses) which is linked in the candidate pack.  The member fee includes time for reading and preparation.

The appointed member will be expected to commit approximately 2-3 days per month.  Meetings will usually take place via MS Teams but may on occasion be held at the GOC Offices at 10 Old Bailey, London, EC4M 7NG. There are occasional online catch-up meetings - these are currently scheduled on a Tuesday evening every 6-8 weeks, from 5.30pm – 6.30pm.
