- Review The Lullaby Trust’s current Evidence Base.
The Lullaby Trust’s guidance is constantly evolving as new evidence emerges on preventing unexpected infant deaths. However, much of our guidance, such as our Back to Sleep messaging, is based on an established and agreed body of evidence. The post holder will be required to undertake a narrative systematic review of the literature to create an updated Evidence Base for each aspect of The Lullaby Trust’s guidance, referencing established research and any relevant updated evidence. Ideally, papers would need to be readily available via open access to assist The Lullaby Trust staff with supporting research enquiries. It is important to note that whilst some of our guidance is based on direct evidence, some is indirect i.e. advising against using certain products due to association with other evidence-based guidance; therefore, the post holder should have a sound understanding of SIDS and unexpected infant death research to be able to demonstrate this link concisely.

2. Create a revised Evidence Base including the production of plain language versions for each topic.
The Lullaby Trust’s current Evidence Base is an extensive document. This project aims to make the Evidence Base more accessible and easier to update. We envisage that each topic currently covered in the Evidence Base will have a fully referenced version and a plain language version to enable them to be understood and used by a variety of service users, including health professionals and parents or carers. On completion, the Evidence Base and its derivatives will remain the sole property of The Lullaby Trust, however the post holder will be credited and there is scope for the post holder to publish an academic paper based on the project.
3. Work with our designer to create final accessible PDF copies for each topic.
The post holder will need to support in the design of easily accessible PDF versions of the Evidence Base, including any relevant infographics and links to referenced research. Each document will need to align with the guidance available to service users via our website and in other published resources. It may be possible that the review provides insights into potential changes to the current guidance available and, where this is indicated, the post holder will work with our Scientific Advisory Group to provide the evidence for those discussions.
4. Develop a standard operating procedure for updating the Evidence Base in future.
As a dynamic organisation that adapts our guidance to the most up-to-date research. Our current process involves our Scientific Advisory Group assessing new research and, if appropriate, amending our guidance or adding research to an established research library. However, the format of the current Evidence Base document creates a challenge in adding new references and evidence. The revised Evidence Base documents created by this project will need to be easily edited and updated. The post holder will be required to develop a standard operating procedure for updating the documents as part of our current Scientific Advisory Group processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Trusts, Foundations and Statutory Income Generation
1. Prepare persuasive and compelling project applications and proposals with comprehensive supporting materials to tight deadlines to secure income from Trusts, Foundations and statutory funders against agreed targets.
2. Undertake research to identify new Trusts, Foundations and statutory sources of income for the RSNO.
3. Work closely with the Head of Development (Trusts and Projects), Engagement Team, Digital Team and the Artistic Planning Team to identify, scope and develop creative projects in response to identified funding opportunities.
4. Undertake research to ensure the RSNO’s portfolio of projects is forward-looking, inclusive, accessible and competitive within the wider arts sector.
5. Work with colleagues across departments to monitor the delivery of projects funded by Trusts and Foundations.
6. Develop excellent relationships with Trusts and Foundations, liaising with staff, Trustees and Directors, as appropriate. Ensure that key contacts at Trustee and Director level are networked with key individuals across the RSNO, including the Chair, Chief Executive and Director of External Relations.
7. Support the stewardship programme for Trusts and Foundations and other funding partners. This will include swift acknowledgement of all donations, ensuring all reporting requirements are met and ensuring key representatives from the funding bodies are engaged with the RSNO and the projects they are supporting.
8. Maintain an excellent quality standard for written documents and presentations developed by the Trusts and Projects team.
9. Work with Head of Development (Trusts and Projects) to ensure that the outcomes of funding partnerships are clearly defined, agreed in writing and communicated to relevant teams.
10. Develop effective networks in the Trusts, Foundations and Statutory sector, promote the RSNO and use external networks to identify opportunities for support of the RSNO’s work.
Project Management and Administrative Duties
11. Regularly attend project meetings of the External Relations and Engagement project group and record project details on appropriate internal progress reports.
12. Develop strong working relationships within the organisation to facilitate effective communication and to enable the development of a strong case for support for RSNO projects and priorities.
13. Prepare progress reports on Trust and Foundations fundraising for discussion with the Head of Development (Trusts and Projects) at regular meetings.
14. Ensure that all records of funding partners and prospects are fully and adequately maintained on Spektrix.
15. Support the work of the Trusts and Projects Team via necessary administrative duties.
16. Adhere to the highest standards of fundraising best practice as set out in the Institute of Fundraising’s Code of Practice and ensure that all activities comply fully with relevant Data Protection law and any other relevant legislation.
17. Play a full role in the department with a flexible approach to meet the varying demands of a small team. Collaborate with other members of the team to achieve their targets.
18. Promote and manage invitations to RSNO concerts and cultivation events for representatives of Trusts and Foundations and other funding bodies.
19. In liaison with the Head of Trusts and Projects, identify and undertake professional development opportunities relevant to this role.

Borders Forest Trust (BFT) is investing in their first dedicated, in house fundraising post to provide strategic oversight and expertise to all the charity’s fundraising activity.
BFT was established in 1996 to restore the ecological health of the various habitats of the South of Scotland, an area with the lowest percentage of native woodlands in mainland Scotland. Since 1996, BFT has been planting new native woodland, restoring peatland and improving many other natural habitats, enriching the biological diversity of around 31 square km across the Southern Uplands and the wider region.
They demonstrate landscape scale ecological restoration in action, and inspire landowners, statutory bodies, local communities and policy makers to embrace more sustainable models for land use and conservation practice.

Job Purpose
Provide administrative, events and communications support to assist in the delivery of legacy and trust fundraising including the management of legacy gifts and the management of relationships with donors’ families, executors and legacy pledgers.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Secure and schedule appointments with legacy pledgers, prospective pledgers, Trustees and Trust Administrators for all members of the Legacies and Trust teams. Draft meeting plans where necessary, book and arrange travel, and prepare and compile briefing packs with meeting locations, directions etc. Use own judgment to resolve any problems because of last-minute changes to appointments and travel arrangements. This will involve dealing with influential people external to the University including prospective and existing donors.
2. Use Raiser’s Edge to maintain accurate records and manage data relating to legacy pledgers and donors and their gifts, ensuring that all information is up-to-date and correct. Make judgements on the best way to reflect meetings and relevant information on the database, ensuring a complete record of the relationship with the University is maintained and that privacy regulations are complied with. Use expertise to suggest improvements to procedures.
3. Assist in the process of identifying and managing segments of the alumni/donor database from which potential legacy pledgers could be drawn. Interrogate databases and spreadsheets to support stewardship, events and fundraising and run legacy activity reports in liaison with Planning & Development Operations staff to monitor progress.
4. Maintain an action timeline to ensure all legacy administration and stewardship activity is completed efficiently and ensure legacy fundraisers maintain efficient contact and follow up, “managing up” where required to ensure actions are completed.
5. Work with gift management staff to ensure legacy gifts are correctly allocated to the appropriate fund.
6. Co-ordinate arrangements for events for the 1451 Society of legacy pledgers, including drafting invitations, liaising with guests and venues, compiling materials such as information packs, presentations, signage and badges. Ensure the correct people receive the correct invitation and that an accurate picture of invitations and attendees is maintained and recorded on Raiser’s Edge database.
7. Support the delivery of selected follow up actions for legacy pledgers or prospective pledgers, for example co-ordinating campus visits involving academic departments and the University’s Senior Management Team, liaising across the University and with donors to compile schedules.
8. Support the communication strategy for legacy fundraising and stewardship by writing and editing communication materials, sourcing quotes and content and liaising with bequest pledgers and executors. With guidance, draft, upload and ensure the maintenance of content for the University’s web pages on legacy giving in liaison with Development & Alumni and Marketing colleagues. (CMS T4, training will be given).
9. Act as liaison with the Regular Giving Team and Digital team to provide legacy information to support mass mailings, telephone fundraising and legacy communications on social media.
10. Act as first point of contact for enquiries related to legacies and, when appropriate, act in the place of the Legacy Gift Manager / Philanthropy Officer - Legacies when they are absent or unavailable by responding to queries in a timely and efficient manner to maintain the smooth running of the operations.
11. Provide the Strategic Philanthropy Manager (Legacies and Trusts), Trusts and Foundations Manager and Philanthropy Officer-Trusts with administrative support as and when required to maximise income from Trusts and Foundations. This may include producing gift acknowledgements, proof reading of applications, formatting of applications, coordinating information and assisting in the submission of applications to Trusts and Foundations as and when appropriate .
12. Keep general administrative procedures up to date, including drafting correspondence, opening mail, photocopying and filing as well as arranging catering and supporting visits with donors.
13. Act as a purchasing officer as required.
14. Participate fully as a member of the Development & Alumni and External Relations teams, ensuring strong links and good working relationships.
15. Be prepared to undertake projects appropriate to the grade of the role but that might fall outside its direct remit of as the line manager, Director and/or Vice Principal External Relations may advise. This will include providing administrative support in other areas of the Development and Alumni team and External Relations directorate from time to time.

Myeloma UK has an ambitious plan for income growth. We launched a new organisational strategy in 2024 and will launch our new research strategy in mid-2025. We’re making amazing progress in the research and treatment of myeloma – but we need to go further, faster. This position will play a critical role securing grants of up to £10K from trusts, foundations, and grant funders for a range of innovative and life-changing programmes – including patient and family support, research and advocacy. The role will work closely with the Senior Trusts and Grants Officer, who leads on the medium and large grants programme, and income from pharmaceutical partners.
The post holder will deliver the grant process from start-to-finish including administration, research, and managing and growing a pipeline of small trusts. You will work with colleagues from across the charity to build high quality proposals and develop reports for funders. You will also work directly with funders to understand their priorities and offer excellent stewardship.
