Interim Finance Director

Reporting to the CEO, the Finance Director will be part of In Kind Direct’s leadership team and contribute to the overall leadership, strategic direction and decision-making of the organisation.

You will advise the CEO and Board on these strategies, including working with the Partnerships and Impact Director and Commercial Director to set the philanthropic and commercial income strategies.
The Finance Director will also be responsible for implementing and developing financial planning, budgeting and forecasting to support IKD’s decision making for increased impact and improve IKD’s effectiveness and efficiency. This includes responsibility for the development and maintenance of the internal finance controls, policies, procedures and systems. Finally, you will also lead decision-making on investments, reserves and the management of financial strategy and risks, taking into account our approach to sustainability. Previous experience in eCommerce and distribution will be a significant advantage given the innovative In Kind Direct model.
Skills and experience you will bring
• Experience working at FD level with in-depth knowledge of financial and operational management, ideally including relevant experience within the charity sector.
• Strategic thinker experienced in collaborative strategy development.
• Innovative, curious and rigorous - able to find strategic solutions and work at pace to support commercial and operational decisions [CW5] with modelling that drive greater impact.
• Fully qualified finance professional (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
• Understanding of Ecommerce and distribution is highly desirable.
• Wide experience of business planning, functional development and performance reporting, including to the Board of Trustees.
• Experience managing outsourced finance teams desirable.
• An experienced leader with a track record of delivering ambitious goals, bringing together diverse, inclusive, high performing teams.
• Equally adept at and enthused by engaging in strategic decision making and rolling up their sleeves to get involved in the day-to-day delivery of In Kind Direct.

The RSPB, Europe’s leading nature conservation NGO, is seeking a Director of Supporter Fundraising to lead the charity’s work in recruiting and stewarding the next generation of individual supporters to help address the nature and climate emergency.
The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) is a charity for the conservation of birds and nature, bringing people together who love birds and other wildlife, and who want to take action to restore the health and diversity of the natural world. The charity now manages and protects 160,000 hectares of land across the four countries of the UK.
Public support has been at the centre of RSPB’s work since its foundation as a campaigning organisation in 1889. The role of Management Accountant is to provide high quality support to the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis in the annual budget setting process, whilst being responsible for the monthly management accounts, including production, analysis, reporting and communication.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain the full analysis, with all appropriate backup, of the current organisational budget: pay, non-pay, income and capital; ensuring that all documentation is fully backed up.
- Ensure complete transparency with budget holders of all components and assumptions inherent in the budget.

- Prepare and deliver accurate, timely management information and financial reports to support strategic decision-making and operational performance monitoring.
- On a monthly basis, prepare the management accounts for the organisation. For presentation to the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis, ensure arithmetic accuracy, full reconciliation to the general ledger, analysis of all material variances and identification of underlying trends.

THE ROLE
• This is an exciting role co-ordinating project planning and project management of the Woodland Trust’s contribution to the Northern Forest, a landscape scale partnership stretching from Liverpool to Hull, and one of the Woodland Trust’s key focus areas, called Treescapes, in the UK.
• You will help build detailed project proposals and facilitate funding bids to support Woodland Trust delivery of the Northern Forest.
• Act as WT account manager with Defra for the Northern Forest Nature for Climate Fund woodland creation programme and other relevant funded programmes, overseeing and preparing associated reporting to funders, and associated project management processes.
• Responsible for coordinating project management of the WT Northern Forest Treescape plan.

THE CANDIDATE
• You will have experience in all stages of project co-ordination and project management, taking complex cross functional projects from inception to implementation, review and evaluation, together with experience of project management frameworks, for example Prince 2

Ashinaga UK is seeking a driven and well-organised Partnerships Manager to propel our fundraising efforts, with the goal of advancing the Ashinaga Africa Initiative by securing funding to create new scholarships and opportunities for orphaned youth. This role will play a key part in expanding our impact and supporting the education and leadership development of young leaders from sub-Saharan Africa.
The Ashinaga movement was founded in Japan in the 1960s and has since expanded across the globe, empowering over 110,000 orphaned youth with access to education and support to achieve their full potential. The Ashinaga Africa Initiative was launched 10 years ago with the aim of equipping future leaders for Africa through undergraduate scholarships and leadership development opportunities. Ashinaga UK is proud to be part of this global movement, contributing to the mission of transforming lives and communities through education. Our work is primarily in the UK through collaboration with key university partners and donors.
The Partnerships Manager will be responsible for securing and building funding partnerships, overseeing external communications, and spearheading grant applications. The Partnerships Manager will work closely with the Managing Director.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with the Managing Director to develop and execute the fundraising strategy.
- Manage existing funding partnerships and establish new relationships to further Ashinaga UK’s mission.
- Secure partnerships with corporations, foundations, individual donors, and UK universities.
- Identify new funding opportunities, cultivate relationships, write proposals, and report on progress.
- Write high-quality grant proposals to secure funding from grant-making bodies.
- Oversee the partnerships database, donor reporting, and contribute to the annual Charity Commission trustee report.
- Create external communication materials, including website content and promotional materials.
- Collaborate with key team members to develop partnerships related to scholarship programming and opportunities for scholarship recipients.
- Plan and coordinate external-facing events, such as donor receptions, corporate sponsor events, and webinars to enhance engagement and raise awareness of Ashinaga UK's mission.
Essential Criteria
- Right to work in the UK.
- Candidates must be based in the London area or able to commute. The role requires working from the office one to two days per week.
- Proven track record in establishing and nurturing partnerships to advance a charity’s mission.
- Strong experience forming and managing new funding partnerships successfully.

- Proven track record of leading successful fundraising projects and winning funding.
- Ability to strategize and develop innovative approaches to engage potential donors and advance them along a partnership ladder.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to diverse audiences, including corporate partners, individual donors, and internal stakeholders.
- Demonstrate experience in writing compelling proposals to secure funding from grant-making bodies.
- Knowledge of the charity sector and fundraising regulations.
- Experience fundraising within the international development, widening participation and/or education sector.
- Experience planning and coordinating events, such as donor receptions, corporate sponsor events, and webinars.
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with organisational objectives.
- Ability to create new or upgrade existing processes and structures to allow for the effective delivery of strategy.
- Able to efficiently use a wide range of online tools, including spreadsheets, databases, and cloud-based applications.
- Experience using CRM systems to manage and analyse data and produce reports.
- Ability to work in French and/or Portuguese is a plus but not essential.

About My Life Films
My Life Films is an award-winning charity that uses film and TV to enrich and support the lives of people affected by dementia. This includes My Life TV, our specialist on-demand streaming service, with bespoke curated content designed to improve wellbeing. We are also known for our award-winning life story film service.
My Life TV is carefully put together with a wide range of content to enable people living with dementia to feel stimulated and connected to the world, improving their mental health and supporting their essential care. We work with highly respected content partners as well as produce our own programming in partnership with trusted organisations in the dementia care field and more widely.
About the Role
This is a hugely exciting opportunity for an experienced and confident interim CEO to come into the organisation and lead it during this important transition period, which is where we are shifting our model from in-house sales and marketing to a partner-led approach. We believe this will be the best way to reach and deliver benefits to people affected by dementia. This role will secure this partnership and develop a new strategy for My Life Film's next chapter.
Our current Executive Director is moving on for family reasons, having stewarded the charity and led the development and expansion of My Life TV over the past two years. She will remain available part-time with My Life Films for a short handover period.
Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the Interim ED will be responsible for all aspects of the charity's work and will be passionate about our work supporting people with dementia, entrepreneurial and collaborative, with commercial Business Development, Partnerships, and experience of charity mergers would be beneficial (but is not essential) as we have an experienced Board who will be on hand to support you.
As leader of the My Life Films team, you will also work across governance, finance, income generation, and impact. You will be responsible for delivering My Life Films' immediate strategy and working with the Board of Trustees.
About You
- Progress strategic partnership discussions for My Life TV with existing partners and identified potential partners to move to a wholesale or reseller model for My Life TV, or potentially acquisition of the service by another charity, company or care organisation
- Develop financial and operational models for potential partnerships, including scenario planning and P&L analysis, involving content, tech, marketing, and charitable impact. Lead negotiations, bringing in commercial, accounting, or legal support as needed.
- Work with the Board to create a strategic plan for My Life TV and new dementia-focused services, aligning with the charity's mission.
- Oversee daily operations, including finance, income generation, content production, partnerships, and reporting.
- Secure necessary funding through trusts, foundations, care groups, and events, representing My Life Films to stakeholders.
- Cultivate a positive environment, recruit and restructure as needed and provide coaching to enhance team performance.

We recognise that this will require big, bold changes in the way The Wildlife Trusts work, not least in how we mobilise others and support them to organise within their own communities.
What we are trying to achieve: The twin crises of nature and climate emergencies have forced the Wildlife Trusts to rethink their role. Collectively, we have set out the new and ambitious Strategy 2030. Goal 1 of that strategy is to get nature into recovery with the Wildlife Trusts providing the leadership required to achieve 30 by 30: 30% of seas and land in nature’s recovery by 2030.
Nature’s recovery rests on five critical interventions: (1) the development of a nature recovery network; (2) creating landscape recovery areas at a scale where natural processes can operate to drive up species abundance; (3) regenerative agriculture; (4) green infrastructure threading through our towns, cities and countryside and, (5) at sea, an effective network of highly protected marine areas.
We are entering a new era where Labour are now the government with a very clear majority and mandate for their 5 missions that they have clearly prioritised. We have already seen that the Labour government are going to make significant changes to the planning system and are establishing GB Energy. In the short term, we need to ensure that our environmental legislation is not weakened through and that we maintain high environmental standards.
About You
We are looking for someone with the drive, and experience of high-level advocacy and facilitation skills to lead generating and implementing appropriate policies that will drive change. This is an exciting opportunity for an innovative, capable, and passionate leader who understands both nature and people. You will need to be able to inspire politicians, funders, the media, developers and communities
You will need to enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, be organised and resourceful, have excellent attention to written detail as well as confidence in public speaking. We need these skills to come through in your clear passion for our cause. You will be part of a tight and dedicated central policy team. You will need to have excellent collaboration and facilitation skills and always strive to ensure that everyone can come together effectively across the movement of The Wildlife Trusts to achieve our new and exciting vision
You will need knowledge of the workings of Westminster and experience of working in the third sector. We are interested in someone who is able to demonstrate experience of working with political adversaries and has no fear of engaging in robust discussions on the future of environmental law and a reverse in the destruction of our biodiversity
We are particularly interested in someone who has experience of working with the House of Commons and House of Lords, backbenchers, and the shadow front bench
