Battersea successfully rehomes approximately 3,000 animals annually and takes in many more. We have an ambition to significantly increase the number of cats and dogs helped through our centres and beyond.
In addition to rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming dogs and cats, we have a strategic ambition to tackle the issues affecting the health and welfare of dog and cats to prevent relinquishment in the first place. We aim to do this by providing with advice and support to people who are struggling with their dogs and cats so that animals can stay where they are loved and cared for - reducing the need for animals to come into our care for preventable reasons.
Battersea’s new organisational strategy comprises three core pillars: Prevent, Support and Care. As part of ‘Support’ we want to develop our current advice and support work into a flagship cross organisational programme to enable Battersea to deliver timely and appropriate advice and support to more struggling owners either directly or through partnership working.
The Head of Advice & Support is a new role with a remit to lead this strategy and set up a cross organisational programme that addresses the issues struggling pet owners experience.
The role will set up and drive the governance of a strategic programme, including defining and overseeing key workstreams such as content development, advice service expansion and strategic partnerships that support struggling owners.
The postholder should have a background in information and support, advice or content development and have led on the development of a strategic programme within a not-for-profit setting that delivers social impact. The role requires excellent stakeholder engagement both internally and externally, and experience in collaboration and partnership working to deliver shared benefit.

The Natural Environment Charity Review aims to ensure that each charity is well managed and governed and achieves maximum impact for its beneficiaries, and to ensure that the City Corporation, in its capacity as charity Trustee, meets its legal duties and adheres to best practice set out by regulatory bodies. As we move from planning to implementation phases of this ambitious project we seek two outstanding individuals bringing project management and delivery; and business management and financial planning to this cross-corporation team.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Charity Development Project Manager to support the Assistant Director – Charity Development in the next stages of the Natural Environment Charity Review (NECR). This role will involve both high-level project planning and direct management of specific projects within the overall review. The successful candidate will play a key role in implementing the NECR’s recommendations and ensuring appropriate support, measures, and monitoring are in place across the eight Natural Environment Charities.
This position requires strong collaboration with expert officers across the City of London Corporation and charity stakeholders to develop corporate charity policy, governance frameworks, and business management strategies while promoting best practices in charity management.

Key Responsibilities
The Charity Development Review Project Manager will lead the local delivery of the NECR by designing and overseeing key project themes and monitoring dependencies. They will establish risk registers and project measures while implementing new charity policy frameworks, such as Ethics Policies and Due Diligence guidelines, in collaboration with expert officers. The role includes directing and managing charity-specific training for key officers and ensuring smooth implementation of NECR interventions.
Additionally, the postholder will develop service level agreements (SLAs) with internal support units, manage land and property anomaly projects (such as Warren House), and contribute to the refresh of the Natural Environment identity. They will also work closely with the NE Business Manager and Transformation Teams to develop sponsorship and funding initiatives. The successful candidate will oversee information systems, ensuring process efficiency and improved fundraising potential.
The role requires regular reporting to Members and Chief Officers, leading on risk management and ensuring all charity policies are effectively communicated and implemented. Liaising with expert finance and legal officers, the postholder will ensure that policy development and training needs are met in alignment with corporate objectives. They will also stay updated on sector trends, charity best practices, and evolving regulatory frameworks.

The Organisation
The Royal Parks (TRP) is a charity created in March 2017. We manage over 5,000 acres of diverse parkland, rare habitats and historic buildings and monuments in eight Royal Parks across London. These are Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, The Green Park, St James’s Park, The Regent's Park and Primrose Hill, Greenwich Park, Richmond Park and Bushy Park.

The Role
As one of our Head Gardeners, you will lead the delivery of high-quality horticultural maintenance and conservation projects across The Regent’s Park and Primrose Hill.
You will oversee a Horticultural Resource Team and volunteers, ensuring the effective maintenance and enhancement of key horticultural features, including the planting and tending to establishment of a new high profile two-acre public garden.
Supporting the Assistant Park Manager in implementing landscape management plans, you will plan and deliver horticultural maintenance, ensuring the highest presentation standards, and overseeing seasonal and permanent planting schemes.
Engaging closely with apprentices and volunteers, you will provide guidance and training to enhance their development, while also working collaboratively with contractors and other teams to support landscape projects and maintenance activities.

- Manage horticultural volunteers
- Oversee the procurement and maintenance of horticultural tools, PPE, and sustainable resources
- Assist in planning and delivering community and corporate volunteer days
About You
To be considered as our Head Gardener, you will need:
- Practical horticultural experience, ideally in a public park or publicly accessible garden
- Good knowledge of Health & Safety in the workplace
- Good knowledge of horticultural plant and machinery operations
- Excellent plant knowledge
- Excellent leadership, motivational and communication skills
- A formal horticultural qualification e.g. National Certificate in Horticulture, National Diploma, NVQ Level 3 (amenity horticulture) or RHS, or equivalent experience with a minimum of three years’ leading teams
- A full, valid driving licence
