What We Do 

Working with housing associations and other local partners, we run free tutoring programmes for primary school children and their families, providing access to vital educational support to those who need it most. We're proud to serve diverse, low-income, refugee, migrant, and multilingual communities across London, the Midlands, and the North West. We hire, train, and pay inspiring university students – most of whom also come from low-income households – as tutors, providing them with meaningful, paid work experience and support to boost their careers.

Job Purpose

This is an exciting time to join our small and impactful team, as we embark on a new four-year strategy, with goals to broaden and deepen our reach and impact, diversify our funding and delivery partnerships, and boost our programmes to support year 6 to 7 transition and tutor career development opportunities.

A major strategic priority is to grow geographically in the Midlands and North West - which this role will play a pivotal role in achieving. Since expanding beyond London during the pandemic with online tuition, we have since grown across the Midlands and the North West region and are looking for a Programme Officer to support us in continuing fostering new partnerships and growing our geographic reach. Working closely with our Manchester-based Head of Regions, you will help deliver contracts, build strong local relationships, and expand our reach in high-need areas.

The Programme Officer will be responsible for the management and overall delivery of their designated programmes. Over the next four years, we aim to scale our tutoring hubs to reach over 1,000 pupils per year in core cities and areas across England. This role will involve managing relationships with tutors, parents and clients, while collecting robust qualitative and quantitative data to measure the impact and build the success of our work. This is a critical role, leading on the delivery and evaluation of multiple programmes, managing key stakeholder relationships, and contributing to the development of our tutoring programmes in our newer delivery regions.

The Programme Officer will ensure high levels of quality assurance, particularly among tutors working in their hubs, so we achieve our intended outcomes. This is a multifaceted role, working across all parts of the organisation to ensure we deliver the best possible results for our pupils.

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about education, has strong stakeholder management skills and a broader knowledge of communities in the North-West region is also beneficial. You should be able to adapt your communication style to effectively engage with clients, parents, tutors, pupils and funders alike, and have strong written and verbal presentation skills. You will bring brilliant project management skills and be comfortable working with data and using it to make informed decisions.

About Migrateful

Migrateful is an award-winning, innovative social enterprise and registered charity founded in 2017. Migrateful’s mission is to provide training, employment, and a supportive community for refugees and migrants (‘our chefs’) facing multiple challenges in the UK.

Our chefs, often referred to us due to the struggles they face in adapting to UK society, come from diverse backgrounds shaped by experiences of modern-day slavery, gender-based violence, and fleeing war-torn countries.

We work holistically with our chefs, offering training to enable them to teach their own cookery classes and supporting them to find employment. After completing our training programme to become a Migrateful cookery class teacher, our chefs go on to lead cookery classes with members of the public and corporate groups.

The cookery classes not only provide ideal conditions for learning English and building confidence but also encourage interaction with the wider community and help dispel misconceptions about migrants. Our goal is to promote integration by enabling refugees and asylum seekers to become economically independent and engage meaningfully with their community.

Since it started in 2017, Migrateful has supported 110 migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers to teach over 5,000 cookery classes attended by more than 55,000 participants. This amounts to 30,000 hours of meaningful work experience provided to our chefs.

Migrateful in Bristol

Migrateful’s founder, Jess Thompson, grew up in Bristol. The first Migrateful class with paying participants took place in 2017 at Bakesmiths on Whiteladies Road.

Jess’s Argentinian friend, José, who was struggling with his immigration status at the time, taught the class, which was a great success. Jess then continued to develop the Migrateful model in London and was featured on the Forbes 30 Under 30 List and British Entrepreneur of the Year Award in recognition of her achievement in starting Migrateful.

In 2020, Migrateful partnered with Coexist Community Kitchen in Easton to deliver our chef training programme in Bristol, and Migrateful classes have been running in Bristol ever since. This is an especially exciting time to join the team and lead our Bristol branch as we enter the next stage of growth, with plans to open our very own cookery school in September. We are currently running an average of two cookery classes per week in Bristol, and when we open our cookery school in September, we plan to increase this to four cookery classes per week.

Scope of Work

• Business Development: Collaborate with the marketing and corporate sales teams at HQ to develop and implement sales strategies and build partnerships with local stakeholders.

Role Summary 

The main function of the Programme Officer, Northern Ireland role is to support delivery of Into Film programmes and activities in Northern Ireland and contribute to achieving deliverables as required by programme funders. 

The Programme Officer, Northern Ireland will work across all three main strands of the Into Film offer: Screen Careers, Film for Learning and Filmmaking. 

Main Responsibilities:  

• Contribute to the development and delivery of a nation-specific operational plan. 
• Work with colleagues to ensure that schools, colleges and educational institutions engage with the Into Film offer. 
• Support educators’ enquiries by phone, email and face-to-face. 
• Work with the Marketing and Communications team to run targeted recruitment, engagement and retention campaigns, including screenings, in-school visits and CPD. 
• Work with the Marketing and Communications team to drive recruitment for the Into Film Festival, and with a designated Programme Delivery Coordinator to secure entries for the Into Film Awards. 
• Support colleagues to develop a regional network of strategic partners including exhibitors, umbrella organisations and the FAN network, and ensure that schools, colleges and educational institutions are aware of and accessing opportunities. 
• Professionally represent Into Film at conferences, events and festivals engaging key partners and educators with the Into Film offer. 
• Support colleagues with filmmaking workshops, CPD sessions and Youth Advisory Council meetings. 
• Work with the Marketing and Communications team to deliver targeted and automated communications to schools, colleges and educational institutions in Northern Ireland. 
• Work with the Marketing and Communications team to develop Into Film products and activities that respond to and meet the needs and interests of schools, colleges and educational institutions. 
• Responsibility for CRM management of film clubs in Northern Ireland, ensuring that all data is clean and updated, including all non-automated activity and multiple club registrations. 
• Ensure that user activity is monitored, evaluated and reported, and used to inform ongoing engagement and retention activity. 
• Collate and report on monthly/quarterly Key Performance Indicators. 
• Keep up to date with the Northern Ireland Education System. 
• Undertake general administrative and office management tasks to support the smooth running of the team and the office, including, but not limited to booking travel, dealing with purchase orders and invoices, and ordering stationery. 
• Deputise for a Programme Coordinator or Lead when necessary. 
• Any other reasonable duties assigned by Into Film.  

General Responsibilities:  

• Commitment to quality internally and in all dealings with Into Film’s stakeholders including teachers, children and young people, industry partners, funders, supporters, parents and carers, and members of the public

Role Summary

The Programme Coordinator is a key point of contact for the Into Film Programme in the north of England and delivers Into Film’s programmes and projects face to face and online with a bespoke approach for the region. This requires detailed knowledge and understanding of the education and screen industry landscape in the north of England.

Main Responsibilities:

• Deliver all elements of the Into Film programme in the north of England including but not limited to CPD/training for teachers at all career stages, careers events, conferences, round tables, Teachmeet style gatherings and teacher panels, online and face to face.
• Develop, sustain and be the local point of contact for schools, partners, individuals and organisations that add value or are users of the Into Film programme, including a focus on EEDI and how Into Film can specifically, positively reach and include those who are underserved and underrepresented. 
• Feed into and deliver the plans in the area across the programme including Teaching with Film, Careers and Progression, and Young Creatives (plus the Into Film Festival, the Into Film Awards and additionally funded programmes, as needed).
• Work with all departments at Into Film to ensure a joined-up approach and delivery of set outcomes and KPIs whilst adhering to budgets and deadlines.
• Ensure reach across the north of England, feeding into UK-wide work and awareness of Into Film Programmes, responding where possible to local needs.
• Activate and deliver the programme across the north of England including feeding relevant regional content into email campaigns and co-manage the regional social media account. 
• Support the recruitment and delivery of the Youth Advisory Council and Education Ambassador schemes in the area, working with young people and teachers across the region to support the development of the Into Film programme.
• Manage local partnerships and relationships with individuals and organisations. 
• Utilise the Salesforce CRM to input and analyse data, create dashboards and reports. 
• Feed into fundraising proposals and assess the activity needed to achieve outcomes when planning a project.

Person Specification:

Minimum Requirements:

• Experience in activating and delivering a programme of activity within an educational context or youth setting including training for teachers, workshops, events and panels.
• An interest and some experience in planning or delivering participatory activity for young people.
• Knowledge of the north of England landscape including English education policy and curriculum, the screen careers landscape and the screen industries more broadly. 
• Ability and experience in activating and delivering other film, careers or education related work including, but not limited to, film screening events, hosting Q&A sessions, and attending educational careers events.
• Experience of starting, sustaining and managing relationships and partnerships with individuals and organisations locally and sometimes nationally. 
• Experience of successfully delivering projects to budget and on time.
• Ability to work across a variety of strands within programmes.
• Ability to work with and agree work plans across departments to ensure KPIs, targets and agreed outcomes are met.
• Experience and full understanding of monitoring, reporting and evaluation to ensure the programmes continually improve and evolve.
• Experience and knowledge of project planning, liaising across different departments, delivering to time, managing expectations and achieving the necessary buy-in from industry. 

Desirable:

• Awareness of the process of fundraising and feeding key information and research into successful applications. 
• Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite.
