As Head of Evaluation and Impact you’ll lead a small team to support us in understanding and improving the impact of our activity. You’ll develop and embed our approach to impact evaluation, enabling us to measure progress against our organisational mission, measure and evaluate the impact of our school engagement activities and share learnings with the wider community to help improve collective impact. You will bring experience of evaluation theory and methods; you will have developed theories of change and impact frameworks; and you will have led programme evaluations. You’ll be driven by a curiosity to understand more about how we can improve our activities in ways that achieve the change we’re looking for.

About the role
Reporting to the Director of Communications, you will be responsible for the ongoing development and delivery of EngineeringUK’s work to understand the impact of our activity at a programme and organisational level. You will have responsibility for developing and embedding our approach to impact evaluation that enables us to measure progress against our organisational mission, measure and evaluate the impact of our activities and support the wider community in improving approaches to monitoring and evaluation. You will manage a small team and work in close partnership with the Head of Research with whom you may be responsible for joint objectives and deliverables. You will also work closely with the Policy & Public Affairs and Communications teams.
A key part of this role will involve leading and quality assuring evaluation plans and delivery, as well as distilling and reporting findings in a meaningful way to shape and evidence the direction of EngineeringUK’s work. A strong understanding of qualitative and quantitative methods, data analysis and experience communicating complex information to a range of audiences is therefore required
The role is London based at our office at 10 Lower Thames Street, London EC3R 6EN and may involve some travel in the UK. We believe that hybrid working has many benefits and are pleased to offer flexible working with a minimum of 2 days (or 40%) a week in the office and the option for a flexible start and end to the working day in our vibrant central London office overlooking the Thames. Overview of Role:
CAT is entering an exciting phase in its development. In recent years the organisation has achieved significant growth in student numbers, membership and fundraising income. We have ambitious plans for a transformative project, Cynefin: a flagship, sustainable Welsh visitor attraction and skills hub which is included in the portfolio for the Mid Wales Growth Deal.
The Head of Communications will be a member of the Project Management Team contributing to developing the vision, strategy and business case for Cynefin, supporting the capital fundraising campaign and leading on the engagement and communications.

- Strategic leadership of CAT’s marketing, policy and communications (internal and external).

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement financial strategies, and lead the development of financial projections and scenario planning to inform decision making.

Requirements
- Qualified accountant with at least 5 years of relevant experience, and willing to be hands on.
- Strong technical accounting experience covering financial accounting, management accounting, budget creation and monitoring, financial analysis, and reporting, preferably within a not for profit.
- Experience of working in a start-up or of establishing a finance function is strongly desirable.
- Experience of leading a finance function, including providing financial analysis & insight and strategic advice to aid decision making.
- Experience of grants management, compliance and reporting
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to work with both finance and non-finance staff.
- Strong strategic and problem solving skills.
This is a remote role, although they would be open to someone working from their office.
They anticipate the role will require 2 days/week, perhaps with more time required initially to set up the finance function and then at important times in the year, including year-end.

In this exciting role you will develop our social media channels, deliver engagement activities, to increase brand awareness, and reach out to existing as well as new and diverse audiences.
You will create and edit fresh content for social media channels, campaign landing pages and supporter emails and will be responsible for implementing new and engaging communications and marketing strategies that support our organisational objectives. You will monitor and report on the performance of these strategies, providing actionable insights and recommendations.
You will report into the Communications Manager to further the objectives of the Communications team, report to your line manager and provide feedback to colleagues. The Internet of Production is a UK charity that brings together a global alliance dedicated to building a future of decentralised and distributed manufacturing. Role & Responsibilities:
- Write and submit grant applications, including narratives and any additional materials (such as detailed budgets, budget justifications, workplaces, monitoring and evaluation plans, logical frameworks, pitch decks, etc).
- Work closely with the CEOs of the Internet of Production and the Global Innovation Gathering (also successful grant writers) and with inspiring networks of visionary experts to design exciting, effective and fundable concepts and projects for grant applications.
- Plan appropriately to best fulfil a pipeline of grant opportunities, where some opportunities may be very short notice and some may require months of co-authoring.
- Assist with seeking out and prioritising potential grant opportunities from around the world.
- Develop a master bid document or other grant application tools and manage and maintain grant application files and folders etc for each organisation.
Person Specification:
- Extensive experience in roles that included significant grant writing.
- Experience of Horizon Europe grants, research funding or other large consortia grants.
- Exceptionally effective and clear writing style, with excellent English, including when under time pressure. Ability to speak German could be helpful but is not required.
- Understanding or appreciation of issues/sectors including poverty, resilience, climate change, economic development, digitalisation, localisation, environmental sustainability and ‘green’ initiatives, etc, would be very helpful.
