About Us
The Brazzaville Foundation (“the Foundation”) is a civil society and non-profit organisation registered by the England and Wales Charity Commission (registration number 1160693). It promotes and supports African initiatives in the following areas:
- conflict prevention and resolution missions with concrete actions such as the Inter-Libyan Dialogue Dakar 1 and the African Mediation in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine;
- an environmental protection mission whose flagship actions include the assistance of the creation of the Blue Fund for the Congo Basin (signed in Oyo in 2016) and the support of “Elephant Protection Initiative” in favour of the fight against the ivory trade;
- a major multi-year, multi-disciplinary health initiative in the fight against fake and substandard medicines, which gave rise to the signing of the Lomé Initiative, a multi-country initiative aimed at combatting this scourge.
Role Overview
The accountant will play a critical role in maintaining the foundation’s financial health, ensuring compliance with charity law, and supporting its mission through effective financial management.
You will be responsible for bookkeeping, financial management, and providing insightful financial analysis to support decision-making by senior staff and trustees.
Key Responsibilities
1. Bookkeeping
- Perform regular bookkeeping tasks in a timely manner including:
- Accounting for purchase invoices coding to the correct activity and account code;
- Accounting for income receipts to the correct fund – restricted or unrestricted and account code
- Monthly payroll – and journal to correct activity and account code;
- Monthly pension submissions;
- Accounting for direct card payments;
- bank reconciliations – sterling, Euro and other currencies;
- accounting for accruals and prepayments on a monthly basis;
- regular review of accounting transactions to ensure all transactions tracked correctly;
- proper knowledge and application of fund accounting.
2. Statutory Accounts
- Preparation of Statutory accounts to comply with Charity and Company law
- Preparation of backing documentation for audit purposes;
- Co-ordination with auditors during audit process to ensure necessary adjustments posited correctly where appropriate.
3. Finance Management
- Implement and maintain financial controls to ensure efficiency, stability, and good governance, including record-keeping to provide a clear audit trail.
- Conduct detailed analysis of different charitable activities and funds, managing both restricted and unrestricted funds.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts in a timely manner, highlighting significant points and discussing them with senior staff and trustees.
- Monitor financial activity against specific projects and funding streams, providing regular updates and analysis.
- Conduct an annual review of internal controls to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience as an accountant in the charity sector or a similar environment.
- Strong knowledge of charity law, including handling restricted and unrestricted funds.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
Desirable Skills
- Experience in preparing financial reports for senior management and trustees.
- Proficiency in Xero accounting software.
- Familiarity with the requirements of funders and the ability to monitor financial activity against specific funding streams.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks with deadlines.

This is a senior role within our People & Organisational Development directorate. Reporting to the Associate Director, People Operations you will play a key role in supporting Marie Curie's 5-year strategy by enabling employees to focus their time on patients and services by implementing efficient, prompt, automated and human-focused processes across data, systems, administration, payroll and audit.
Your Role:
- Overall Direction and Development: Leading the payroll team, you will ensure efficient and accurate payroll processing.
- Strategic Planning: You will have the opportunity to develop and execute payroll strategies to align with organisational goals.
- Compliance: You will ensure adherence to all payroll-related financial, legal and corporate compliance requirements.
- Leading and driving improvement. You will understand organisational impacts and create and encourage a culture of continuous improvement.
Additional Criteria for Success:
- Proven track record in payroll management, preferably in a large and complex organisation (e.g. commercial, audited environments private or public sector). This should include operational management of service delivery to a diverse customer base.
- Strong payroll legislation knowledge.Including payroll laws and regulations, tax compliance, pensions, statutory payments and employment law. Associated audit and risk experience is a must.
- Payroll systems expertise. Highly proficient with payroll software (Oracle and/or Zellis is highly desirable). Advanced Excel is additionally required.
- Demonstrable experience managing and developing a team, with strong performance management and coaching/development skills.
- Project management experience. Proven achievements in leading payroll-related projects, such as systems implementations or process improvements.
- Strong ability to identify, assess and solve payroll-related issues with a proactive and strategic approach.
- Results oriented with a positive outlook, high level of motivation, enthusiasm and dedication to the mission and goals of Marie Curie.
Contract: Permanent
Salary: £65,000 - £70,000 pa dependent on skills, knowledge and experience.
Location: Home-based within the UK, with ad-hoc travel to London and Birmingham required.

You will support our work on Justice in Practice: where disabled people’s lived experience is meaningfully embedded, appropriately compensated, and responded to in the transport sector and beyond. We have a bold plan for the next five years and need someone who can support the team to deliver in line with our values.
You will be part of a unique, disabled-led research and training team who are dedicated to removing barriers to transport for disabled people. This role is focused on responding to the lived experience of our diverse community and using research and training to drive change. You will also oversee research projects, such as the National Accessibility Transport Survey and support the impact of Transport for All through high-quality analysis and reporting.
Recent projects including collaborating with Sustrans on the Disabled Citizens Inquiry into Walking and Wheeling; facilitating product testing by disabled people of an external organisation’s app for planning barrier-free walking, wheeling and cycling routes; and grant-funded research into removing barriers to accessing transport concessionary schemes.

Purpose of the job/About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Insights and Evaluation team at Dementia UK supporting the organisation to build the evidence base for Admiral Nursing through collecting and sharing evidence on the effectiveness of the Admiral Nursing model.
As the Insights and Evaluation Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining the team’s systems and folders, ensuring they remain organised and up-to-date. You will act as the main point of contact for enquiries within the team and manage the team’s email inbox. Additionally, you will coordinate meetings and projects, providing essential administrative support.
You will also be involved in coordinating data collection processes and assisting with the team’s survey functions. This will include supporting basic analysis of evaluation data and contributing to the production of reports and other key documents.
To succeed in this role, you will need experience in providing administrative support, including managing shared folders and systems. Strong organisational skills are essential, along with the ability to prioritise and handle a diverse range of responsibilities independently. You should also possess solid IT skills, including proficiency in common software packages like MS Office, and some experience using Excel for basic data analysis.

Reporting to the Youth Engagement Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of our Trees for Climate Action (TfCA) project funded by the National Lottery Community Fund. The project aims to bring people together, creating opportunities for young people (up to 30). The project will deliver intergenerational, tree-related activities for young people to build their knowledge and learn new skills from environmental professionals and experienced volunteers, mobilising young people to take positive action against climate change. This opportunity will also support the ambitious Clyde Climate Forest (CCF) partnership initiative across the Glasgow City Region.
