This vacancy has arisen as the result of the retirement of our current Fundraising & Marketing Director in Spring 2025. We are looking for a dynamic and experienced leader to take over this pivotal role within the charity.
Based at either of our two sites in North Weald and near Colchester (with regular attendance at the other site), you will oversee the strategic management of our charity's fundraising, marketing, and communications. You will lead in the creation, development, and implementation of a range of revenue-focused strategies, and have overall accountability for a large team that generates the funds needed to keep the service operational. As a key member of our Executive Team, you'll collaborate closely with our CEO and other members to drive the delivery of our short, medium, and long-term goals.
Role responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of robust and diverse income generation and marketing strategies that meet both the current, and future, operational needs of the charity with a focus on lottery growth.
- Advise and support the CEO and Board on all fundraising and marketing matters.
- Develop and deliver income diversification plans.
- Lead the team in a positive and inspirational way to maximise all opportunities across our region.
- Develop and build working relationships with key stakeholders and other air ambulance charities.
What we’re looking for
You will have extensive fundraising experience in a compatible context, specifically across key areas of income generation. You must be target driven to achieve income objectives set. You will have appropriate qualifications or be qualified through experience in fundraising and marketing and/or communications.

Main purpose of the role:
The Community Leader (Director) leads the Community in living the mission of L’Arche in our community life, by providing outstanding, person-centred and financially sustainable care and support services, by support for shared community and spirituality, and by engagement with the wider community around us.
Are you a leader who can:
- Inspire and lead a diverse and talented community of over 100 individuals with and without learning disabilities - people we support, employees, volunteers, long-term friends and members.
- Oversee and develop £2.5 million worth of registered care, supported living, and day services, ensuring compliance with CQC requirements, alignment with the L’Arche vision and values, and maintaining financial sustainability.
- Lead a team of 70 employees through strategic direction, effective processes and service delivery, and emotionally intelligent, collaborative, forward-thinking people management.
- Represent L’Arche London externally in fundraising efforts, outreach to build local partnerships, and participation in L’Arche UK leadership and governance forums.
- Embody and advocate for the L’Arche ethos of cultivating deep, long-term, and mutually transformative relationships between individuals with and without learning disabilities.
- The L’Arche London Community includes nine supported living services, one registered care home, and two day workshops, serving 34 individuals—all located within a mile of West Norwood Station.
The Role
- Lead a community that intentionally responds to the needs, choices and context of our members, and is faithful to the L’Arche UK Vision and Values, and Mission statement, and to a co-created Community Mandate and plan.
- Maintain and enhance high-quality, person-centred care, support, and housing for people with learning disabilities, both at home and in our day services. .

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The purpose of this job is to provide energy efficiency advice and casework-level support to individuals and families living in low-income households and facing fuel poverty. The primary goals of the project are:
1. Raise Awareness & Energy Savings - Educate vulnerable local communities, who may lack prior knowledge, about strategies for reducing energy costs and achieving long-term energy and financial savings. The aim is to empower individuals with practical energy-saving techniques and encourage grassroots peer learning within these communities to help spread survival strategies.
2. Energy Advice & Fuel Debt Support - Offer detailed guidance on energy management, including addressing fuel debt issues, to help clients understand their fuel usage in the context of their overall financial situation. This includes enabling individuals to make informed decisions about energy consumption and related financial matters.
3. Assist Vulnerable Communities in Energy Crisis - Equip particularly vulnerable households with the skills necessary to cope with the growing crisis in household energy debt, as consumption rises sharply. This involves preparing communities to manage their energy usage and finances more effectively in the face of increasing energy costs.
4. Income Maximisation & Benefits Awareness - Help raise awareness about entitlements and assist clients in claiming relevant benefits to maximise family income, ultimately helping them manage energy expenses more sustainably.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Holistic Client Assessment and Support - conduct detailed confidential interviews with clients, applying a holistic approach to assess their needs for advice and support.
- Compliance and Quality Standards - Provide energy efficiency advice and casework support that adheres to the Advice Quality Standard (AQS).
- Comply with AQS case management and case recording procedures and processes, contributing to the delivery of high-quality advice and casework, and the collection and reporting of statistical data as required to enable accurate evaluation of the impact of the service and reporting to funders.
- To be responsible for delivering high-quality one-to-one advice and casework on energy efficiency - targeting our food hub participants and other local residents who are on low income.
- To raise awareness and assist people without any previous awareness/knowledge of how to save on energy costs and develop long-term energy and monetary savings within their homes.
- To facilitate and deliver monthly Switching Off Poverty workshops/talks/group sessions about fuel poverty; how to identify at-risk local residents; what tools/assistance is available; and how to impart help and guidance following the end of the programme - these workshops aim to enable participants to access tools and develop the new skills required to help them monitor, track, record, and understand their household fuel use and bills.
- Provide advice and assistance through a range of channels; Face-To-Face, Telephone, Teams/Zoom, WhatsApp as well as via email/letter.
- To ensure that the service offered is tailored to the needs of clients and takes into account the particular needs of each individual, including issues around communication, understanding, and vulnerability.
- Through clear communication and consultation, ensure that clients remain involved in resolving their energy debt, benefit, and money management issues and are kept informed on the progress of their case throughout our work with them.
- To provide advice and support around energy efficiency and money management; income maximisation; budgeting; saving; debt and understanding and accessing appropriate financial products.
- To effectively use the database system (Lamplight) to organise and manage client support and to take on issues (as cases) for the client that may have issues with billing and metering problems. Take up complaints and provide grant-assisted schemes. All work is to follow the file LHP’s management procedure.
- To be responsible for the delivery of an agreed annual project plan, meeting targets and milestones for the Energy Efficiency advice service.
- To liaise with other agencies and develop and sustain good working relationships with those agencies.
- To be responsible for maintaining project files with evidence of project outputs and milestones.
- Supported by the Advice Services Manager and members of the team, you will collectively develop relationships with other organisations by attending various borough-wide forums and raising awareness.
- To be responsible for preparing the quarterly project monitoring report to send out to the funder and ensuring progress against milestones and achievement of agreed targets are being met.
- To contribute to the monitoring of the project and provide quarterly and annual monitoring data and evaluative reporting to the Services Manager for dissemination to the Funders.
- To establish and maintain warm relations of trust and cooperation with clients in keeping with the Limehouse Project ethos.
- To remain alert to issues relating to capacity, client understanding, and safeguarding issues when working with clients and promptly consult with the Advice Services Manager regarding any areas of concern.
- To respond to clients’ file reviews, take action and follow the key date task diary on the LHP database system.
- To strictly adhere to all LHP policies, in particular those on confidentiality, equal opportunity, case recording, file management policy, etc. Strictly follow the AQS Quality System e.g. clients’ filing system, monitoring system, referral system, etc, and keep them up to date.
- Community Engagements and Partnerships – Liaising with other agencies, such as local authorities, health services, and community organisations, on behalf of clients.
- To liaise with other agencies and develop strong working relationships to support clients effectively, including partnerships with GP surgeries.
- Deliver advice sessions at the LHP office, GP surgeries, and other outreach venues, raising awareness of available support services.
- Participate in borough-wide forums and activities to develop relationships with other organisations and enhance community awareness.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. To support the Limehouse Project’s overall goals and vision.
2. Carry out day-to-day general administrative duties that are vital to the smooth running of the services and specific project-related work such as responding to letters, doing follow-up work, etc., and its online appointment sheets for LHP and external partners.
3. Attend Limehouse Project staff meetings regularly.
4. Carry out such other duties, as the LHP manager and management committee shall from time to time require.

About the role
The Donor Relations Officer is a key role within the Development Office at the University of London. You will be responsible for developing and implementing a best practice programme of stewardship, donor engagement and recognition for the University of London’s donors, ensuring sustainability and growth of the donor base. About the role:
The Advance Prison Advocate will support women on remand and those unsentenced within the prison setting, providing pre-release support; focused on Accommodation, Finance, debt & benefits, Family & significant others and Social inclusion.
The Prison Advocate will develop a referral pathway with the Offender Management team within the prison, for women to access the service and will work in partnership with the existing service providers operating within the prison. You will co-design a person-centred support and action plan with women accessing support, enabling you to support them to address their needs and any risks in relation to the interventions identified above including providing ‘through the gate support’. The role will combine a casework- based approach, along with a signposting and advice service for the women in custody.
You will have demonstrable experience and understanding of working with women in a challenging multi-agency environment, ideally working with prisoners and/or their families.
You will build strong relationships with the Pre Release teams to ensure clients are able to maintain or access suitable accommodation, finance, benefits and debt, family and social inclusion support including negotiating terms on behalf of the women. Ensure that interventions are responsive to and meet the needs of women from diverse and minoritised backgrounds. This, together with referrals to wider partner organisations in the community, will ensure additional support needs are addressed post-release and continuity of support exists
A car may be desirable for this role, though not essential
About You:
To be successful as the Advance Prison Advocate you will need the below experience and skills:
Knowledge and experience of the criminal justice system obtained through academic study, experience of working in the criminal justice system (or closely associated social system).
The ability and experience as a caseworker delivering gender specific and trauma responsive interventions which support resettlement and rehabilitation of female adults in the criminal justice system whether in the community or in prisons.
You will possess excellent organisational skills, excellent communication skills and be able to work in a prison environment whilst remaining calm.
Knowledge and understanding of the requirements of managing a caseload including maintaining and updating records, remaining focused on action plan goals, and keeping to deadlines
You will have the ability to complete trauma informed, support and action plans in collaboration with the woman; to support in addressing their multiple and individual needs and enable them to engage with services, which will result in timely and prescribed outcomes being achieved.

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a community organiser with a strong project management background, or a project manager who has trained as a community organiser to help us grow a new project, The Help Desk, while overseeing our Open Collective service. Open Collective is a platform which enables groups to transparently and collaboratively manage their funds. We fiscally host around 600 groups using OC – they are supported by a Programmes Assistant, who would be managed by this role. This will give you oversight of the service and provide you valuable insights into the needs of groups.
The Help Desk is a new project in SCN which will support our growing community of grassroots groups and movements within our ecosystem. Over the next 4 years, we are planning to build a strong, vibrant and supportive community amongst our groups, with access to resources, training and mentorship/networking and fundraising opportunities. You will be responsible for project managing the build-out of the Help Desk and developing and organising the SCN community. This includes monitoring progress and reporting against the funding secured. While some plans and activities have already begun, you would be expected to further shape the vision of the Help Desk, pivoting in response to feedback and learnings.
You will work closely across the Delivery Team to ensure that the Help Desk is relevant to the different types of groups we host, as well as the Head of Programmes, who you will support in consolidating insights for sharing with partners. Together with the Business Development team, you will also be responsible for exploring the income streams required for the following 5 years. You will also be managing the overall project budget alongside managing mentors, staff, volunteers, interns, and leaders, where appropriate.
ABOUT YOU
The role would suit someone that understands the needs of community groups and the pressure and challenges they face as they scale their impact, while also having agile and creative project management skills. A large part of the role is getting to know the groups and to support both the development of network weaving across the groups and building out the resources they need. Because of this, you will enjoy connecting with people from different backgrounds, and have good problem-solving skills.
As you will have oversight of our Open Collective service, you will need to have some understanding of how community groups could use tech platforms to support their infrastructure and how this can relate to their impact. You will also be managing one member of staff and while you will be given training and support, some management experience is desirable.
The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude and be open to learning and growing with us as we build our programmes and services. On top of seeking out partnerships and opportunities that will help SCN better support its community groups, you will be regularly holding spaces for groups to connect and feeding back any relevant insights to the team. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As Programme and Community Development Lead, you will be responsible for supporting and building out the community of grassroots groups and movements across all of SCN.
