Animal welfare charities the Universities Federation for Animal Welfare (UFAW) and the Humane Slaughter Association (HSA) are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Fundraising & Membership Officer to strengthen the Fundraising and Communications team. This pivotal role involves working with the Fundraising Manager to develop and deliver fundraising initiatives, enhance membership engagement and donor relationships to support and expand the impact of our animal welfare initiatives during an exciting period of growth and change for both charities. 

The ideal candidate will enjoy working as part of a small multi-disciplinary team but also be confident to take the lead and work unsupervised when necessary. 

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is looking for the next step in their fundraising career. 

This position can be office-based, or home-based. However, the postholder will be expected to attend our offices in Hertfordshire to carry out duties as required, and attend some meetings.  Travel costs and subsidence will be covered for the employee in these situations. The job may also require occasional travel within the UK and possibly overseas for conferences/meetings and other relevant events - some of which may occur at weekends or in the evening. Because we’re based in the UK, the appointee will need to be UK-based and legally entitled to work in the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accurately import supporter data from third-party platforms (e.g. Enthuse, JustGiving, payroll giving agencies).

• Use ImportOmatic to manage bulk data imports into Raiser’s Edge.

• Manually create or update records as needed.

• Maintain clean and reliable data by running regular cleansing routines and managing duplicate records.

• Process and record all types of gifts (cash, cheques, pledges, direct debits, online donations), ensuring they’re accurately coded and tracked.

• Submit Gift Aid claims in collaboration with Finance and ensure all relevant information is correctly captured.

• Respond to database queries and support requests across the team.

• Assist in a major database migration project to Microsoft Dynamics.

About you

You'll be proactive, highly motivated and have experience in the development and delivery of public health and inclusion initiatives, campaigns and projects. An excellent communicator in building relationships at a local level with external organisations and groups including with those from under-represented communities.

You'll be confident in understanding and explaining equity, diversity and inclusion issues in our public health work clearly and will give presentations as required to community groups and organisations.

You'll also be experienced in monitoring and evaluation of public health activity, including gathering data, producing reports and analysing other statistical information as required.

Primary location of role and hybrid working

This role is primarily based in our London office. However, our hybrid working model allows full-time staff members to work up to 3 days per week at home.

The Photographers’ Gallery is seeking a permanent Finance Officer to join them in a newly created role at a time of growth and transformation.

The Photographers’ Gallery explores how photography is connecting, captivating and radically changing our world today. The Gallery’s programme and spaces – from exhibitions, talks, workshops and digital platforms to the café, shop and galleries – all explore the beauty, complexity, and future of photography. On the borders of busy Oxford Street and vibrant Soho, the Gallery is home to photography experts, novices and the photo-curious; artists and students; tourists and passers-by. With over 240,000 visitors annually, The Gallery is a key attraction within the arts and culture sector in the heart of London.

A newly created role to support in the growth of the organisation, the Finance Officer role is a pivotal position within the finance and wider team. As Finance Officer you will play an important part in creating a robust and innovative financial service delivery to TPG and TPGE staff. You will support with day-to-day financial transactions and a range of accounting tasks in liaison with the Finance Manager, Head of Finance, and wider non-finance stakeholders.

A summary of key duties is as below:

• Manage accounts payable and receivable processes.
• Maintain the sales ledger and all receipts and income
• Reconcile all TPGE Bank accounts monthly.
• Reconcile Balance sheet ledger control accounts monthly.
• Process invoices, payments and receipts.
• Maintain accurate financial records and ledgers.
• Assist with month-end, quarterly and year-end financial reporting.
• Support the Finance Manager in payroll processing and reports.
• Work closely with internal and external stakeholders

About You

• You will have experience of working in a finance department and of undertaking sales and purchase ledger duties
• Candidates will likely be AAT qualified or studying towards a CCAB qualification. Alternatively, you may hold an accounting and finance degree or equivalent.
• You will be proactive and have the ability to work collaboratively as part of a small team

Salary & Working Arrangements

• Salary of £33,000 – £36,000 per annum DOE
• Hybrid working of 3 days per week in the office and remainder from home (or up to you)
• Pension: 6% gallery contribution, 2% employee contribution.
• Holiday: 25 days per annum, plus bank holidays

• Free access to a number of other Galleries and Museum in London when you show your staff pass as part of the reciprocal agreement.
