Job Purpose

The Communications Manager is responsible for developing and implementing effective professional internal and external communications strategies for the Diocese to support the Diocesan Bishop and senior leaders as part of the Mission of the Church. You will lead and manage a small, dedicated communications team of two direct reports: Creative and Digital Communications Officer and Webmaster.
As Communications Manager you will oversee the Diocese’s media relations including proactive engagement with journalists and responding to press inquiries. Produce high-quality written and visual content, including newsletters, social media posts, and annual reports. Manage and enhance the Diocese’s digital presence, including website and intranet development. Support key diocesan campaigns and initiatives to increase engagement and giving. 1. Main Duties
Communications Strategy
- Design, develop, and implement the Diocese’s Communications Strategy which is fully aligned with the Diocese ten-year Mission plan.
- Research and identify appropriate methods and channels including secular and religious media to raise the Diocese’s profile and in turn that of the Catholic church.
- Collaborate with partners, such as the Bishops Conference of England and Wales to help shape and influence public policy aligned with Diocesan objectives.
External Communications
- Proactively identify opportunities for promoting positive news about the work of the diocese and enabling the Diocesan Bishop to contribute to thought leadership and public debate on relevant policies.
- Drafting material appropriate for publication.
- Arranging video to support key diocesan publications such as Bishops Pastoral Letters.
- Build and develop the Diocese’s links with press and media to support strategic objectives.
- Act as the point of contact for sensitive news, advising the Bishop and senior staff about media handling.
- Act as the Diocesan spokesperson when required, providing a positive and supportive representation of the Catholic Church and the Diocese.

Support to Key Departments
- Collaborate with key departments to design and implement tailored communication strategies. For example, Safeguarding.

- Act as ‘brand champion’, developing, overseeing and implementing brand guidelines to professionalise and standardise all external communications output, whether it emanates from within or outside the Communications department.

Meeting Attendance and Reporting

About the Role
- The London Hotel is a bespoke and time limited housing project, with 16 en-suite rooms, delivered by Westminster City Council and The Connection at St Martins. The accommodation is run from a hotel in Paddington, that has a staff office and a key work room.
- The aim of the service is to deliver a wrap-around support offer to entrenched rough sleepers, with multiple unmet needs, and who would otherwise struggle to access accommodation. The expectation put on those moving into the service is that they will be given a period of time to stabilise with health and wellbeing input and will then work towards a longer-term accommodation offer with us.
- The service provides food daily, as well as toiletries and offers other areas of support (aside from health and accommodation move on) around financial inclusion, substance dependency, obtaining ID and navigating criminal justice involvement.
- In this role, you will provide direct support to the residents of the hotel generally, as well as holding a small case load of residents who you will keywork.
- You will work closely with external partners to develop support networks around the residents and will make referrals into the relevant services. Alongside this you might need to accompany people off-site to appointments and coordinate the network around them to meet their needs. You will also need to facilitate external partners accessing the site, so they can provide support to residents.
- Your focus when working with people will be to support them to develop a move on plan, so they can move from the hotel, into longer term accommodation. This is alongside the day to day running of the service as well as facilitating the maintenance of a trauma informed environment and dynamically responding to people’s needs.

Purpose of the Collections Care and Conservation Manager role:
We are looking for an experienced Collections Care and Conservation Manager to join the Museum team at an exciting time as we prepare for a major store move and develop vibrant and engaging new exhibitions.
You will manage the development and delivery of collections care and conservation projects and facilities across the three Museum sites as well as a range of activities to ensure the preservation of collections while promoting wider public access to the RAF story and volunteer engagement.
Key responsibilities of our Collections Care and Conservation Manager include:
- Lead the collections care and conservation team, integrating staff and volunteers to condition assess, document, clean and conserve objects ranging from aircraft and uniforms to personal papers and art works so they can be shared with audiences on site, offsite and online.
- Plan, manage and monitor the delivery of programmes for the conservation of and access to the Museum’s collections, planning activities, managing risk, time and resources in accordance with professional standards, policies, procedures and legislative requirements.
- Ensure the safe, secure, effective and efficient management of the conservation team, volunteers, contractors, conservation materials, equipment and facilities.
- Ensure an effective balance is made between long-term preservation, restoration and the Museum’s access and interpretation objectives.
- Manage the Collections Disaster Response and Salvage Plan, acting as lead contact in emergencies relating to collections, liaising with the Visitor Experience Supervisors to ensure effective incident management, damage reporting and to support wider emergency planning through the Museum’s Incident Management Plan.
- Support and facilitate the Museum’s commercial activities
What we are looking for in our Collections Care and Conservation Manager:
- Relevant experience in managing, maintaining and conserving museum collections, notably in relation to stored collections, collection moves and exhibition projects.
- Demonstrable experience of implemented collections care in line with professional standards and best practice.
- Communicates in a straightforward manner, demonstrating respect and acting with integrity and impartiality.
- Recognises scope of own authority for decision making and empowers team members to make appropriate decisions.
- Relevant conservation or collections management qualification.
- Experience of COSHH and health and safety regulations and legislation, including radiation protection and asbestos.
- Full, clean driving licence

In this role, you will support a caseload of people with cystic fibrosis, building their confidence and empowering them to secure and retain employment that helps them lead a fulfilling life. You’ll work with each client to understand their skills, aspirations, work experience and build their confidence in tackling the challenges they perceive/have experienced in employment due to their cystic fibrosis. Through supportive delivery of information, advice and guidance, you’ll ensure people with CF can access the support they need to achieve their ambitions and make sure their work fits around their health.
You will also get involved with the programme’s wider activities, including supporting the development of new resources, getting involved in the planning and delivery of online sessions, videos and webinars, and making sure we can share and celebrate the stories of people with CF in a wide range of jobs and careers. You’ll also play a key role in supporting the Helen Barrett Bright Ideas Awards, our programme to support people with cystic fibrosis in self-employment.
This is a varied and interesting role, with the opportunity to make a real difference to people affected by cystic fibrosis and to continue to shape a broad, innovative programme of work.

ROLE PURPOSE
The Community and Events Fundraising Manager will be a vital member of the Mass Fundraising team, responsible for leading activity across Community and Events. They will be instrumental in driving the Community and Events team to achieve our income targets and grow Community & Events from £400,000 to £550,000 over the next five years and by 29/30.
This role will focus on identifying and nurturing impactful fundraising relationships, providing exceptional stewardship and delivering a calendar of community and events fundraising. The ideal candidate will be able to implement effective income growth strategies, particularly in working with local companies and in memory fundraisers. Working with the Mass Fundraising Officer, the postholder will be responsible for marketing our community and events programme to increase the number of people fundraising for St George’s Hospital Charity and ensure the community and events programme provides a positive ROI. They will have a confident knowledge of fundraising regulation and responsible data management to ensure community and events activity is delivered in line with best practice.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Planning & Delivery
- Develop and implement the community and events fundraising strategy in line with KPIs and budgets set out in the annual business plan and fundraising strategy.
- Lead on the day-to-day management of the community and events fundraising plan to increase net income and supporter numbers.
- Monitor community and events activities to ensure compliance with fundraising guidelines and promote best practice.
Fundraising Development
- Work with the Head of Mass Fundraising to develop the community and events portfolio, including the development of new products, with the aim to achieve significant and sustainable growth of unrestricted income.
- Identify and cultivate relationships in the local community to generate new income from audiences including schools, community groups, local corporates, and mid-high value individual fundraisers.
- Work closely with the communications team to effectively market community and challenge events fundraising to grow supporter numbers and income.
- Work closely with fundraising colleagues to ensure a collaborative approach to the delivery of excellent stewardship and new business development.
- Continually develop community and events supporter journeys to give our fundraisers a memorable and meaningful experience fundraising for St George’s Hospital Charity and encourage repeat fundraising.
- Attend events and activities to promote the work of the charity.
Financial Management
- Prepare, monitor and manage income and expenditure budgets and reforecasts.
- Prepare reports and evaluations of the community and events portfolio as required.
- Work with the Database Manager to effectively monitor key performance indicators for community and events activities, ensuring that targets are met and ROI maximised.
- Ensure that gift aid is maximised wherever possible.
People & Relationships
- Manage, motivate and develop the Mass Fundraising Officer.
- Manage office and events volunteers including maintaining a volunteer database.
- Build positive, collaborative relationships within the organisation, NHS Trust and wider community to support income generation.
Staff Management
Carry out all line management duties in line with organisational policy and procedure, including:
- Managing health and safety of staff

- Motivating and supporting staff to achieve high performance, including conducting regular 121s and timely appraisals

We are looking for an organised, enthusiastic, and experienced Digital Marketing Executive with a passion for social media and marketing to join the Spread a Smile team.
Reporting to the Head of Marketing, you will help to deliver our marketing strategies and day-to-day output across our digital platforms including social media, website and e-comms and our Smile TV online viewing channel for families.
You will play a key role driving social media growth with responsibility for developing and posting creative content and managing interactions across our social media platforms, ensuring that we remain consistent in terms of brand and tone. You will provide marketing support across the Fundraising and Services team, including producing marketing/fundraising materials and literature, appeals and events collateral (services and fundraising related), case stories, PR activity, and supporting management of our photo / film libraries and brand.
You will be brilliantly organised, and comfortable working across a wider team, juggling multiple projects at a time. You will be willing to go the extra mile to help us reach new audiences and achieve our strategic aims.
Key responsibilities and duties:
• Responsible for the day-to-day output of our social media content across Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok and LinkedIn (we use Hootsuite). Scheduling, writing and producing content (including reels), responding to comments and messages etc.
• Leading on the development of our TikTok channel, delivering engaging content and plans to grow this platform in particular. Also mirroring for Instagram too.
• Managing our Linktree platform (Instagram) and exploring other suitable platforms and reporting for socials.

• Supporting the Head of Marketing on wider website development and marketing strategies and support tools such as researching and using AI i.e. ChatGPT.Responsible for creating monthly supporter e-newsletter in Mailchimp, regular family e-newsletters (4 per annum) and other e-comms, (with Head of Marketing leading on content strategy), helping to ensure schedules for delivery are agreed and adhered to.
• Working with the Head of Marketing to maintain brand quality control, ensuring brand guidelines and support materials are up-to-date and accessible to the whole team.
• Researching and exploring marketing and promotional initiatives and avenues such as Google Ads, PPC, Instagram / Facebook promotions / sponsorship / ads etc.
• Managing Google Analytics and communications tracking, producing monthly reporting on marketing activity using agreed reporting template, including website activity, e-comms performance, social media performance and growth and audience analysis.
• Liaising with external designers as required on charity collateral and managing relationships with printers, obtaining relevant quotes and ensuring costing clarity.
