About You
The Central Operations Assistant is responsible for supporting the Central Operations Manager with administrative support for the Society, which includes finance administration, membership and grants administration and journal sales processing. There is also a requirement for the postholder to support with some facilities management and office support activities.
The postholder will contribute to and support the Central Operations Manager and the Chief Operations Officer in the delivery of all of the Trustee Board’s strategic objectives and particularly in relation to long-term sustainability by maximising cost savings and efficiencies.

This role is within our Sheffield Dementia Short-term Intervention Service and Hospital Discharge Pilot. The service offers specialist support to people with dementia for up to 6 weeks to prevent crisis or provide crisis intervention support if needed. Referrals for this service come from GPs across Sheffield and nursing staff working in the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals.
No two days are the same in this role and our work can really transform the lives of people affected by dementia. You will be supporting people with a dementia diagnosis (or on the dementia pathway) and/or their carers and wider families. You will be supported by a small team of dementia advisers, along with the local services manager and our wonderful volunteers.
The service sits within our Sheffield & Rotherham local services team.
About you
- Be An empathetic listener, able to assess and evaluate client need in a non- judgemental manner.
- Able to work under pressure and manage own caseload.
- Self-motivated and can work independently from home using your own initiative, but equally you are a team player keen to support your colleagues, working in community venues when required.
- You have some knowledge or personal experience of dementia, and the challenges people affected by it may face.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Mental Capacity Act, Safeguarding Adults, Data Protection.
- Able and confident to travel within the service area and visit people in their homes.
- Able and confident to organise and oversee group information sessions across the area
- Experience of record keeping and client data bases and the importance of adhering to procedures and policies.
- Good IT skills.
- Able and confident to represent the needs of people affected by dementia at community events and meetings.

What you'll focus on:
- Provide a person-centred and outcomes focused information, advice and support service to people affected by dementia and their carers.
- You will identify their needs and the services they may wish to access, give advice about how to live well with dementia and support the improvement of their sense of wellbeing.
- You will need to work with a variety of other professionals, such as GP’s, memory clinic staff and other health and social care services.
- Support may be provided in person, over the telephone, via virtual options or in writing.
- You will aim to reach people affected by dementia from all communities and work to make your service as inclusive as possible.
- You will be working from home, but you will be spending time in the community completing home visits, attending clinics and giving dementia awareness talks to groups, therefore you must be comfortable with public speaking.
- Represent the service at Primary Care multi-disciplinary meetings.
- Be involved with joint home visits with local authority social workers when requested.
- Attend awareness raising events and meetings with partner organisations when required.

About the role:
The Digital Officer is a key member of the Marketing and Digital team. We are a friendly, creative, and supportive team, responsible for raising awareness and growing the brand of The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, as well as our website, email, social, direct mail, paid advertising and more. This is a particularly exciting time to join our growing team as we shape and improve the charity’s digital approach and prepare to launch a new large-scale capital fundraising appeal.
As Digital Officer you'll work closely with Marketing and digital colleagues, as well as fundraising teams across the organisation. You will be a key player in maintaining and improving the charity’s digital presence, focussing on website management and web content, keeping our supporters and audiences at the heart of everything you do.
It is also an exciting time to join our digital team, as this role will begin part way through a redevelopment of our website. The Digital Officer will play a vital part in supporting the wider digital team to QA and deploy the new site, and support the Digital teams efforts to embed new ways of working and processes for the new site and ongoing roadmap.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Support day-to-day management and improvement of the website. Includes content updates to ensure information is correct and up-to-date, and editing pages as needed across the site, following digital best practice.
- Support with the blog content calendar and blog content creation. Writing, building, publishing and optimising digital content, then measuring performance using tools like GA4 and Hotjar.
- Embedding and promoting digital best practice. Ensuring new content developed follows digital, SEO and UX best practices and supporting colleagues within the charity to understand and deliver the best digital experience across key campaigns by providing advice, recommendations and feedback.
- Supporting the wider Digital Team in delivering a training programme across the organisation, which will embed our new content creation process and build digital skills across the organisation.
To be successful in your application you'll need:
- Professional experience using CMS (Content Management Systems) and knowledge of website management, on-page and technical SEO and digital best practice. Knowledge of UX is desirable but not essential.
- Experience using data tools, such as Google Analytics for reporting and identifying actionable insights.
- Excellent copywriting, editorial and proofreading skills.
- Experience in writing for the web or digital channels and creating content tailored to a variety of audiences.
- Ability to communicate, work collaboratively and build good working relationships.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to work proactively and manage multiple projects concurrently.

As the Chair, you will be responsible for overseeing appraisal process for board members and consortium director.
Main Responsibilities Include:
- Lead the Board in ensuring it fulfils its responsibilities for the governance of the Consortium
- Work in partnership with any executive directors

The Consortium Director will be responsible for developing a 5-year plan to meet the primary objects of the Consortium: to address the underrepresentation of Black researchers in academic and industry environments.
As BRC's first employee this is a unique opportunity to shape and develop the direction of the organisation. This is a transformative opportunity to build and lead a mission-driven team and organisation dedicated to tackling systemic inequities in research.

About the role
We’re seeking a solicitor to lead the development of a new legal advice service for kinship carers. Joining an established advice team in a growing national charity, this is a new role focussed on delivering specialist legal advice to individuals and changing policy and practice through strategic casework.
Importantly, the postholder will have the opportunity to shape the role to best meet the needs of Kinship and kinship carers.
You’ll be part of a skilled and supportive team who keep kinship carers at the heart of their service.
Our Advice Team supports kinship carers in complex and challenging situations. It can be a tough role at times, so we prioritise adviser wellbeing and are developing a trauma informed approach to our advice work that we’ll be embedding across the service.
The type of person we’re looking for
You will be a 3 year PQE solicitor with strong knowledge of child law, family court processes and related safeguarding legislation. You will have the ability to become a leading expert in kinship care law. You will bring a compassionate and practical approach to supporting kinship carers to navigate legal challenges, access support, and achieve the best outcomes for the children in their care.
You will understand the broader systemic challenges faced by kinship carers, be a strategic thinker and have an interest in service development and policy influencing.
You will need to be resilient and be able to remain calm in difficult situations. You will be firm, sensitive and professional in your approach and will be clear and assertive as you identify key issues and support kinship carers to get their needs met quickly and effectively.
You will understand how important it is that kinship carers feel confident in making their own decisions with the right information and advice so that they can build their own knowledge and confidence rather than dependency.
Key responsibilities include:
· Provide high quality, people centred, specialist legal advice and assistance to kinship carers in England and Wales on kinship care law-related matters.
· Undertake casework and strategic casework.
· Lead the development of Kinship’s legal offer to kinship carers.
· Provide support, resources and training to colleagues in the advice team to support the quality of legal advice.
· Ensure our legal service is compliant with all relevant regulatory requirements.
· Work with our Policy and Campaigns team to identify opportunities for influencing policy and practice through strategic casework, litigation, policy work or campaigning.
· Support colleagues in our Training and Website teams to develop legally accurate content and resources.
Essential knowledge, abilities, skills and experience include:
· A minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience (PQE) in child law, family law, or closely related fields.
· Experience in both private and public law child-related cases.
· Strong knowledge of child law, family court processes, and related safeguarding legislation.
· Ability to provide clear, accurate, and practical legal advice tailored to the individual circumstances of vulnerable people.
· Excellent written skills and research skills.
· Strong organisational skills to prioritise tasks effectively, meet deadlines, and comply with legal and regulatory requirements.

Leadership

About the role
