This is an exciting opportunity to join Dementia UK in a new role as Head of Digital Engagement. You will be responsible for developing and delivering an effective, proactive and integrated digital strategy, overseeing an operational plan that supports the organisation’s overarching objectives.
As the Head of Digital Engagement, you will lead our Digital Engagement Team, motivating and empowering colleagues to create inspiring and engaging cross-channel digital marketing activity (including website, email, pay-per-click and paid social media activity). This will include ensuring our digital activity is inclusive and accessible, as well as focused on segmentation, testing, scheduling, optimisation, acquisition, supporter journeys and engagement.
With other key stakeholders, you will help to drive digital transformation and a digital culture across the charity. Together, you will ensure brand integration across all channels, keeping the brand fresh, consistent and impactful. You will also ensure that the brand and its assets are accessible and effective across all digital platforms, and that everything we produce reflects the values and identity of Dementia UK.
To succeed in this role, you will bring significant experience of digital marketing and communications at a senior level. You will have a strong track record of overseeing the successful delivery of digital projects, campaigns and content that generate measurable results. You will also have experience in developing and implementing strategic plans, alongside managing operational plans with clearly defined KPIs and identified risks. In addition, you will be a strong communicator and proven leader of high-performing teams, able to provide clear direction, motivation and effective line management through supervision and staff development.

Our day centre service is currently open three days per-week offering respite, food and somewhere safe to be for anyone facing street homelessness. It provides advocacy and casework services to those who are vulnerably housed or homeless, supporting them to address their individual crisis and the underlying causes. About this role
We are looking for a motivated individual with an understanding of homelessness to fulfil this exciting role gathering people, exploring challenges and considering solutions related to temporary accommodation (TA). The role will be responsible for pioneering, supporting and facilitating the delivery of a number of Temporary Accommodation Action Groups (TAAGs), primarily in the North West, that feed into national discussions and policy recommendations through Justlife’s campaigning work. You will be comfortable leading cross-sector meetings and navigating conflicting priorities to move towards change. You will also be enthusiastic to represent an organisation which puts people with lived experience at the heart of everything they do. You will be a self-starter with great communications skills and a dedication to supporting people with current or lived experience to engage in the change making process.
We currently run TAAGs in London, Bristol, Brighton and across Sussex but this work is new to the North West. You will need to be a strong networker with lots of initiative. You will be able to sell the benefits of TAAGs to participants, and with the persistence to see through the establishment of these groups. The role requires a flexible, pro-active and open approach to work, working within Justlife’s values - People before Programmes, Collaboration before Competition and Innovation before Institutions.
We strongly believe in the power of collaborative working, and you will be joining a small team of network development workers working across the country. We are currently growing this team in order to not just increase the amount of network work we can do, but also with the aim of offering more support, share best practice and help make this change happen on a wider scale.

Job Summary
The Justlife Network Development Worker will have a desire to see systemic change for individuals and families experiencing temporary accommodation (TA) across the north and a commitment to doing so with the voice of lived experience at its heart. The TA situation across the country is acute and it is increasingly being recognised as the central issue of the housing crisis.
This role will involve working in partnership with local authorities, charities, accommodation providers and people who live in TA or have lived experience, to support and run a number of Temporary Accommodation Action Groups (TAAGs). While Justlife works in Manchester and has some existing work to build upon in Manchester, this role will be pro-actively involved in starting a TAAG in Manchester, as well as in other locations in the North-West. This role may also support and facilitate some or all the work of the Bristol TAAG. Over the contract period, the post holder will support TAAGs to test proposed solutions to local challenges of TA, continuity plan beyond Justlife’s support, and gather impact learning.
This will include coming alongside local organisations working with people in TA, building their connections and capacity to bring about change in the sector. The role will convene regular steering group meetings bringing partners together to share learning across the TAAGs and enabling the them to feed into national discussions and policy recommendations through Justlife’s campaigning work including the Households in Temporary Accommodation All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) and our Alliance.
The role will amplify the voices of those with lived experience of TA connecting them with others and enabling them to advocate, lobby and influence for meaningful change, positively impacting the circumstances of those living in TA, both in the areas where running TAAGs and nationally. This will be carried out working alongside existing lived experience forums providing a safe method of engagement, to actively promote the involvement of those with lived experience.
The role will gather good practice examples from the groups and the wider TA sector, monitor and evaluate the groups, report on their effectiveness and support continued learning within Justlife. Working alongside the wider Justlife team the role will consider solutions to the issues faced in TA that can be tested by Justlife or partner organisations.
This post is a fixed term contract, however Justlife is committed to the continued development of this work beyond June 2026, resource dependent.

- Work within the network and TAAGs team to support the existing work of TAAGs, including possibly taking on a leadership/facilitation role in Bristol.

What you will be doing
The Director of Fundraising will be a key member of our executive team reporting directly to the Secretary General. As our first Director of Fundraising, you will have the opportunity to build and develop your own team to help you deliver the fundraising strategy.
In taking forward the strategy, you will identify and articulate areas for support, research relevant funding potential and secure income through the development and execution of both the short and long-term fundraising strategy across the funding spectrum. You will have the confidence and experience to help us to deliver a longer-term strategic approach to continued fundraising, based on organisational and business objectives.
With our donor’s generous gift, we aim to build a thriving, major gifts programme which builds capacity and delivers a significant return on our donor’s investment. It is our aim to raise £15million over the next 4 years.
You will be responsible for building a fundraising team and leading fundraising in all areas, from major gifts relationships, completing complex bids to grant-making Trusts and Foundations and managing and utilising the skills of the Trustees and wider St John network.
You will build and maintain a network of supporters. This will require both organisational and bid-writing skills, as well as the ability to represent us, our work and all that we stand for in negotiations with partners, sponsors and major donors around the world.
1. PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES OF THE JOB
The Director of Fundraising will lead the continued development, co-ordination and delivery of our new fundraising strategy, to build and maintain philanthropic income.
The post holder will work under the direction of the Secretary General and Trustees to:
1. Deliver our new Fundraising Strategy which has been prepared, maximising resources through major donors, trusts and foundations, individual giving, corporates and legacies throughout the world.
2. Build a new fundraising team.
3. Act as an advocate and ambassador for the charity, building and prospecting new relationships with supporters, stakeholders and donors.
4. Work with colleagues to articulate and promote the charity’s unique message.
5. Mobilise potential supporters and advocates within our St John Family.
2. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
a) Work with the St John International team and trustees to deliver the innovative and varied fundraising strategy.
b) Create and manage fundraising: major donors, trusts and foundations, corporates, and legacies across the organisation.
c) Monitor, collect and manage information on relevant sources of funding, including public and charitable funds, commissioning and procurement, and emerging opportunities for income generation.
d) Develop, implement and oversee quality control, evaluation and reporting procedures to ensure a high standard of bid submission, monitoring and reporting at all times.
e) Build relationships with major donors and maintain good stewardship of donors and funders. We expect our contributor base to include international donors, and not just those who may be UK-based.
f) Research and write high quality grant applications and proposals for support.
g) Develop, pitch and manage sponsorship proposals and presentations.
h) Work with colleagues to embed opportunities for fundraising and fundraising events through other areas of the charity’s work.
i) Attend networking events, prepare groundwork and establish connections to engage potential donors and develop opportunities.
j) Prepare reports and give presentations on fundraising progress to the trustee board.
k) Identify opportunities to collaborate with global partners to secure additional efficiencies, benefits or increased resources, including the potential for joint fundraising approaches.
l) Ensure that appropriate health & safety standards are met for fundraising events, including the production of risk assessments and event plans.
m) Ensure the fundraising office adheres to all required fundraising regulations in the UK.
