We are the regulator for the optical professions in the UK. Our purpose is to protect the public by promoting high standards of education, performance and conduct.
About the Advisory Panel
The Advisory Panel is a meeting of the four Council’s committees (Companies, Education, Registration and Standards) in plenary session. They are established by statute for the purpose of giving advice and assistance to Council (whether or not in response to a request from them) on:
· matters relating to business registrants other than matters required by the Opticians Act to be referred to the Investigation Committee, the Registration Appeals Committee or the Fitness to Practise Committee;
· matters relating to optical training, education and assessment;
· matters relating to registration, other than matters required by the Opticians Act to be considered by the Registration Appeals Committee; and
· matters relating to the standards of conduct and performance expected of registrants or those seeking admission to the register.
The committees and the Advisory Panel meet about twice a year. You can read the current terms of reference for the Advisory Panel, Education Committee, Registration Committee and Standards Committee.
Remuneration and time commitment
A daily fee of £319 will be paid. This is in line with our member fees policy and member fee schedule. This is taxable and subject to Class 1 National Insurance (NI) contributions. It is not pensionable.
Members can claim expenses for travel and subsistence costs incurred on Council business as set out in our expenses policy.
This role is part time with a commitment of approximately 2-3 days per year, including time spent preparing for meetings. Meetings will usually take place via MS Teams but may on occasion be held at the GOC Offices in London or other suitable venues.

This role is an exciting opportunity to help transform the response to domestic abuse by ensuring the sector is evidence led. Working alongside our practice experts, survivors of abuse, and our expert research team, you will help to answer important questions about what works in ending domestic abuse.
This Data Analyst position will primarily work within the Drive programme team. They will be responsible for working with and supporting the Senior Data Analyst and Data Team Manager to develop and deliver rigorous, sector leading data, analysis, and recommendations. Working closely with the Drive Practice, National Systems Change and Restart teams, this role will primarily focus on data collection, quality assurance, management and reporting through the Drive Case Management Systems.
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week.
Contract: Fixed term contract until June 2027, with the possibility of extension.
Location: Bristol based with some travel across the UK.

The Move 8 Week Young People’s Programme has experienced remarkable growth, with referrals increasing by 109% between 2021/22 and 2023/24. To meet the growing demand while maintaining high standards, we are recruiting a Cancer Rehab Specialist Lead.
This role is critical to overseeing the delivery, development, and impact of the MOVE 8 Week Young People's Programme. As the team lead, you will manage Cancer Rehab Specialists and a team of freelancers. You'll aslso be working in collaboration with your line manager to drive innovation, patnerships, and excellence and have your own caseload of young people.
Leadership and Team Management
- Lead and manage the Cancer Rehab Specialist and a pool of freelancers delivering aspects of the programme.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment, ensuring clarity of roles and responsibilities.
- Provide ongoing guidance, performance management, and professional development for the team.
Direct Support to Participants
- Provide one-on-one support to young people with a focus on physical activity and wellbeing.
- Develop MOVE’s support for 13-30 year olds following Proton Beam Therapy, and building relationships with key stakeholders and Health Care Professionals.
- Ensure participants receive tailored support, including one-to-one sessions and resources to enhance their rehabilitation journey.
- Work alongside your line manager to monitor participant outcomes and satisfaction, using data insights to continually improve service delivery.
Partnerships, Advocacy and systems change
- Build and maintain relationships with healthcare providers, community organisations, and other key stakeholders to support young people and raise awareness on the benefits of physical activity.
- Advocate the benefits of physical activity during and after cancer treatment at professional events and conferences.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to embed physical activity in cancer care pathways, planning and delivering workshops to contribute towards this.
Programme Development and Growth
- Develop and implement innovative improvements to the 8 Week Programme based on participant feedback and best practices in cancer rehabilitation, for example by managing and refining referral processes to reduce waiting times and improve participant experiences.
- Work with your line manager to design and implement scalable systems and processes to support sustainable growth of the programme.
- Embed equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) principles in all activities, ensuring accessibility for underserved and diverse communities.
- Collaborate with internal teams to align the programme with organisational goals and secure funding opportunities.
Impact Evaluation and Reporting
- Work with the Programme Coordinator to oversee the collection and analysis of relevant data to evaluate the programme’s effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
- Work with your line manager to write reports for stakeholders, funders, and senior leadership, highlighting achievements and demonstrating impact.
- Identify participant stories and successes to share with the marketing and communications team.
Person Specification
Essential Requirements
- Cancer Rehab Level 4 Training or equivalent
- Proven experience leading teams, including freelancers or contractors, in a health, cancer care, or rehabilitation context.

BACKGROUND
The latest research suggesting that the number of children and young people at risk of hunger has rocketed to 2.7 million* means that one in five children don't have enough to eat. When a child is too hungry to learn, when they’re aching for something to eat, they can’t concentrate. They can’t absorb information. Big feelings and worries can be impossible to control. They fall behind in their studies.
Magic Breakfast provide a nutritious and filling breakfast to over 200,000 children and young people every school day. We work with schools in areas of high disadvantage, helping staff target the children most in need without barrier or stigma. Magic Breakfast are ambitious to grow our impact to remove hunger as a barrier to learning for all children and young people in the UK.
The new UK government’s Children’s Wellbeing Bill outlined in the King’s Speech, includes a requirement for free school breakfast clubs in every English primary school. This is a fantastic start towards ending child morning hunger. Magic Breakfast’s influence will be instrumental to ensuring school breakfasts are introduced in a way that is hunger-focused and barrier free. In 2021, the Scottish Government, pledged a not yet enacted promise to provide breakfast to primary children.
Thousands of secondary school children are at risk of losing their free school breakfasts from September next year. For many of these students, this is their only opportunity to have a nutritious meal before facing a demanding school day, including taking exams.
Solutions across all UK nations are currently either not yet actioned or are severely underserving the current need. JOB PURPOSE
We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Analyst with expertise in Microsoft (Power Platform) who is looking for an exciting opportunity to play an instrumental part in Magic Breakfast’s ongoing data transformation. In this multi-faceted position, you’ll lead the design and development of data-driven solutions using Microsoft Fabric and the Power Platform, while also championing the ongoing evolution and smooth operation of the system. About the role
Our Digital Welfare Advisor provides a first point of contact to the RAF Community from anywhere in the UK. The digital service provides remote welfare support to RAF personnel and their immediate family, through the use of a variety of communication methods, i.e. Microsoft Teams, webchat, e-mail and social media platforms. As a trusted and confidential source of support, you will assist our service users with challenges they are facing, from mental ill-health, difficult relationships, domestic abuse, financial and cost-of-living concerns, resettlement, housing, childcare, equality issues, bereavement, military discharge or deployment and many more - no day will be the same, as such this is a great opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills within the Welfare sector.
SSAFA's Personal Support & Social Work Service (PS&SWS) intervention is provided with consent on a non-statutory basis, and you will work with and engage our service users to develop appropriate interventions for individual outcomes.
Our service is transitioning to become more accessible and inclusive, digital technology plays a key role in this, as such you will use digital technologies to complement and enhance processes and service user experience.
You will play an active role in engaging with local RAF welfare teams, as well as external agencies such as local authorities, health, education, civilian agencies, charities and other military organisations to ensure the best outcome for the service user.

The ability to plan and manage one’s own workload with minimal supervision is a key requirement for this role. Prior experience in using other Microsoft Office 365 applications to a high standard will be advantageous.

The Sales and Membership Officer will deliver vital support to ensure school libraries are at the heart of every school community. About the role:
Working as a key member of the practice team, the Practice Advisor’s role is primarily to support and work alongside sites in the delivery of interventions from the three core strands of our work, to ensure they are delivering high quality interventions in line with the Drive Partnerships model and Respect standards. Tasks include training, quality assuring cases, and supporting and in some cases supervising the service managers and/or team leads in the continued development of their teams. It also includes being a key member of local forums and working with other members of the Drive Central team, local commissioners and local Drive partners, who are often Police Staff, local authorities and local voluntary sector provider, to think about the long-term development and sustainability of the projects.
The Practice Advisor supports new areas and services to mobilise and then works closely with them to ensure they are operating with fidelity to the model and to establish excellent practice. The Drive Partnership is always trying to learn from delivery, and it is important that the Practice Advisor is able to identify themes that emerge across the sites they are supporting. Practice Advisors, alongside the different delivery strands managers, the deputy director and other members of the Drive Central Team look at ways to take these themes forward, continuously developing the models to ensure what is being delivered is best practice and compliments other strands of work such as national policy and systems change.

- To travel across South Wiltshire to deliver events, talks and presentations and give advice to people in their own homes.

Like Jon, our staff and volunteers are chosen for their ability to act as positive role models; in turn they inspire and enthuse our vulnerable young students to reach their full potential. Our long-term support programmes increase self-confidence, self-esteem and aspiration, and ultimately empower young people to become role models within their own communities.
