The Role

To deliver on our new strategy and exciting capital and activity Masterplan, Wonderseekers is growing its Fundraising Team. The Head of Major Gifts is a pivotal new role within this team: working closely with the Director of Fundraising and managing a small team of experienced Trusts & Foundations (T&F) fundraisers, to achieve an initial target of circa £3.5 million within the next two years.

Accomplished at assimilating and interpreting complex information to craft compelling, high-level funding proposals, the post holder will lead and coordinate project fundraising campaigns to achieve the individual project targets, ensuring the highest quality of funding approach and donor stewardship across the Major Gifts Team.

In addition to managing and supporting the in-house T&F Managers and freelance T&F fundraisers to secure five and six figure grants, the post holder will develop and manage their own portfolio of major T&Fs and high net worth individual (HNWI) donors contributing circa £1 million towards the overall initial target. Working with the Director of Fundraising, they will play a lead role in establishing a strong and loyal major donor base of organisations and HNWI for the Charity in anticipation of future funding needs.

The post holder will have impeccable interpersonal and presentation skills and be comfortable representing the Charity and engaging with senior internal and external stakeholders at the highest level.

This is an exciting opportunity for a senior fundraiser to become an influential member of the Charity’s Leadership Team. Following achievement of the initial target, the Head of Major Gifts will play a strategic role in designing and implementing future fundraising campaigns (for “business as usual” and special projects) to support the Charity’s strategic plan and maximise its social impact.

Key Responsibilities

The Role

The Fundraising Officer – Partnerships is an important new role within the Fundraising Team, acting as the face of the Charity and first point of contact for potential corporate supporters and other donors.

Leading on delivering Wonderseekers’ Curiosity Collective corporate fundraising campaign, this is your chance to develop your corporate fundraising skills to deliver a small, personal annual income target. Previous fundraising experience is a bonus, but not essential as support and training will be available. However, you must have impeccable interpersonal and presentation skills, be comfortable representing the Charity and engaging with senior internal and external stakeholders, be results-focused and willing to learn.

• Deliver the rolling corporate campaign recruitment plan, including attending networking events, sending out partner packs, activity and preparing /delivering face to face pitches
• Co-ordinate the corporate campaign marketing activity, liaising with the Marketing and Communications team.
• Provide exceptional, ongoing stewardship to all members of the corporate campaign
• Monitor all grants and donations received, ensuring that these are acknowledged and thanked in a timely manner and assist with other stewardship activities
• Maintain and champion the fundraising CRM, Donorfy, providing administrative support to other users as required (training provided)
• Manage the fundraising inbox, ensuring that all fundraising enquiries are dealt with in a timely and professional manner
• Keep abreast of sector news / new funding opportunities and conduct other desk research to assist with development and management of the Charity’s funding pipeline/donor base
• Maintain the Charity’s fundraising asset bank, writing/updating ‘boiler plate’ copy for funding applications, assisting with the research and development of project cases for support and compiling case studies and evidence of need
• Assist in the preparation of cultivation plans, briefing notes and other cultivation activity, funding applications and supporting materials

Global Fund for Children is looking for a Development Officer to join our global Strategic Partnerships Team in an exciting new UK-based role. Your main responsibility will be to help steward our active relationships with donors and supporters around the world, manage delivery of key grant outputs, and build relationships with philanthropic funders and foundations.

 This role will require engagement with our global staff team, alongside senior leadership and key stakeholders, and our expansive network of community partners around the world. You’ll help to develop strategies that build our relationships with key donors, ensuring all our reporting output is of a consistently high quality. This role will have a truly global reach with a primary focus on supporting programming and donor relationships for our work in the UK, Europe and Africa.

 You will be passionate about maintaining the quality and performance of all our outputs to donors and supporters, and have a track record of being highly organized, an ability to manage multiple priorities and an ability to work to a deadline, to ensure we achieve our ambitious goals and objectives. 

 You will be just one part of a growing and extremely ambitious and successful Development, Marketing and Communications (DMC) team based in the UK, US, and around the world. You will play an important part in the successful implementation of projects with our staff team based in more than 20 countries globally – including colleagues from Programs, Finance, Learning & Evaluation, and Safeguarding.

 What will you be doing?

• Manage the global calendar of donor deliverables for the Development team

• Consistently create and deliver compelling reports and other donor deliverables, according to our grant agreements, including collecting data, writing content, reviewing financial information, and ensuring compliance details.

• Work collaboratively across the Development team, engaging with key stakeholders, to deliver on strategic goals and KPIs.

• Liaise with Program and Finance colleagues to share grant requirements and reporting expectations, build reports and deliver high -quality stewardship items. 

• Work alongside the team to keep an accurate record of donor relationships in Salesforce, including stakeholder information, notes from meetings, reporting and submission deadlines, and correspondence with donor staff 

• Build and develop new relationships with prospective foundation donors and foundation fundraising strategy in collaboration with Senior Manager and Vice President for Strategic Partnerships 

• Represent the organisation, both internally and externally where opportunities arise, including donor visits, public events, and partner convenings 

• Keep abreast and keep the wider team updated of best practices and trends in the philanthropy sector, scoping out strategic opportunities to help us engage new prospective donors

• Contribute to the development of a strong values-based team culture across different countries, areas and streams of work

What are your experience and skills? 

Our ideal Development Officer for Strategic Partnerships will have:

• Outstanding organizational skills, including ability to plan, prioritize and manage a varied workload to meet deadlines

• Excellent writing skills, including development of compelling communications to engage donors and prospects 

• Strong interpersonal, influencing and relationship building skills with the ability to work across teams and build strong internal and external networks

• Passion for supporting and developing people to achieve their potential

• Experience working in a hybrid setting across a variety of time zones, and the confidence and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a busy team.

• Experience working with a development/fundraising team to deliver financial goals or partnership deliverables.

• An understanding of the funder and wider philanthropy system in the UK, US, and/or globally

• Appreciation for working with community-based organisations towards a shared goal

• Experience coordinating with a diverse range of colleagues to develop concept notes and funding proposals

• Knowledge of children and young people programming and / or experience in the international development sector preferred

Salary – UK-based salary range for this role will be £40,000 - £45,000, depending on experience

Weekly hours – 35 hours per week.

Holidays – 30 days annual leave and 8 public holidays. The basic annual leave allowance increases to 35 days after 4 years of continuous employment.

Flexible Working Location – This is a hybrid position that is based in the UK. GFC is open to applications to those who will regularly visit our London office.

The charity is seeking a Director of Finance and Resources who will be a key member of the Hospice’s Senior Leadership Team and instrumental in helping to shape the organisation’s strategic direction. 

The postholder will be responsible for the effective financial management of the Charity, including robust assessment of risk, providing sound financial advice to the Board of Trustees and Senior Leadership Team. 

The successful individual will demonstrate the following skills and experience:

• A fully qualified accountant, (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or equivalent higher degree in finance 
• Demonstrable understanding of Charity SORP accounting
• Ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team

Whilst the postholder’s key qualification and skill will be as a qualified accountant, the role is designed to be a broad leadership role.
