Canaan Project are seeking a Director to lead the organisation in to a new season of growing and strengthening our support for young women .

Canaan Project is a charity motivated by Christian ethos and values with a mission to work collaboratively with 11-19 year old girls and young women in Tower Hamlets to see them flourish, have broadened horizons and raised aspirations. We do this by providing experiences and opportunities through innovative approaches to youth work within schools and in the community.

The Director has oversight of the organisations effective running, ensuring it continues to meet its aims and objectives.  This includes having oversight of all Canaan Project operations and activities, in conjunction with the Senior Young Women’s Worker and beingresponsible for the ongoing financial security of the project, fundraising, strategic planning and vision, development of all policies relating to the work including staff and volunteer management, safeguarding, and finance.

JOB PURPOSE

As our Director of People, you will provide strategic leadership and direction for human resources and organisational development, ensuring the charity remains a top-tier employer that attracts, retains, and develops talent. This is a key leadership role, where you will drive organisational culture, ensure compliance with UK employment laws, and foster an inclusive and high-performing workplace aligned with the charity's values and goals. Reporting directly to the CEO and sitting on the Senior Management Team (SMT), this is an exciting opportunity to be the first Director of People for the charity, which has grown rapidly since its inception in 2020. You will have the opportunity to shape your future team, which currently includes a Senior Manager of HR & Ops who is interim and some support from our Operations Officer.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic HR Leadership:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive People & Skills Strategy aligned with the charity’s mission and goals.
• Develop the annual budget and manage expenditure for all areas of responsibility.

Recruitment and Talent Management

• Oversee the recruitment and onboarding process, ensuring the charity attracts diverse and qualified candidates.
• Develop talent retention strategies, ensuring the charity is an employer of choice in the humanitarian sector.
• Implement learning and development programmes to nurture leadership, enhance skills, and ensure compliance with sector-specific training (e.g., fundraising / line management skills, safeguarding, data protection).

Performance and HR Compliance

• Oversee performance management systems, ensuring they are fair, transparent, and supportive of staff development.
• Ensure compliance with UK employment legislation, including employment contracts, grievances, disciplinary procedures, and workplace policies.
• Provide oversight of health and safety regulations, safeguarding standards, and risk management across all organisational levels.
• Responsible for maintaining and continuousy improving the charity’s HR software system and other HR platforms.
• Ensure compliance with data protection laws for all HR related information.
• Use data to generate insights, inform decision-making and improve processes.

Employee Engagement and Culture

• Lead on creating a culture of collaboration, empathy, and shared commitment to the charity’s values.
• Design and implement employee engagement initiatives to enhance job satisfaction and motivation.
• Ensure effective communication channels between leadership and staff, including regular staff surveys and feedback mechanisms.

Key Skills and Experience

• Proven experience in a senior HR leadership role in the UK charity sector.
• Solid understanding of UK employment law and most recent best practices.  A commitment to continuous professional development in this area.
• Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with experience implementing organisational change in this area.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex employee relations issues sensitively and effectively.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and inspire at all levels of the organisation.
• Level 7 CIPD qualification (or equivalent) highly desirable.
• Experience working in international agencies or NGOs highly desirable. 
• Understanding of refugee issues and/or experience working with vulnerable communities would be a significant advantage.

About Us: Thank you for your interest in our Fundraising Manager role. We seek a senior, experienced international fundraising manager to grow support from individuals, major gifts, trusts and legacy pledgers primarily in the UK, but also for the ROLDA globally. 

ROLDA (Romanian League in Defence of Animals) is a small animal welfare charity working to improve the lives of dogs, cats, and other animals in Romania and internationally. Since its establishment in 2006, ROLDA has become a beacon of hope for the millions of vulnerable stray animals in Romania – one of Europe's economically poorest nations. Our mission is to manage the homeless animal population, estimated to be millions, through six key focuses: rescue, rehabilitation, sheltering, sterilisation, and education. Within our shelters, inspired by British kennel design and maintained to meet EU animal welfare standards, we can house up to 700 stray dogs at a time. Here, they receive complete veterinary care, rehabilitation, and preparation for rehoming. Since 2006, we have helped over 48,000 animals (primarily dogs and cats) and built two shelters for dogs and one for disabled and senior cats. We also distribute support, primarily through small grants, to six other charities in Romania and over 40 shelters in Ukraine. We rehome mainly in Switzerland, Sweden, and the UK. In addition to our efforts in rescuing and rehoming animals, ROLDA tackles the root cause of Romania's homeless animals through comprehensive neutering programmes and educational initiatives. Since 2006, we have successfully neutered nearly 20,000 cats and dogs, significantly impacting Romania's severe overpopulation of animals.

Job Overview:

As a Fundraising Manager at ROLDA, you will play a pivotal role in leading and developing our fundraising strategy. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in securing funding from Trusts and Foundations, engaging with Individual Giving programmes, cultivating relationships with Major Donors, and promoting legacy giving.

We are looking for an experienced fundraiser with proven success to join our team, bringing the leadership, confidence, drive, and experience to develop and deliver a fundraising strategy that matches our ambition. Reporting to the Founder and CEO, the role presents an opportunity to shape the future of the charity and build long-term partnerships with individual supporters and Trusts.

Experience required to be considered for this role:

Fundraising Experience:

Proven experience in fundraising is a key requirement. This should include a track record of successful fundraising campaigns, securing grants, and managing donor relationships.

Experience in multiple fundraising channels, including:

Trusts and Foundations: Demonstrated success in writing and securing grants from foundations.

Individual Giving: Experience in developing and implementing strategies for acquiring and retaining individual donors.

Major Donors: Track record of cultivating relationships with major donors and securing significant gifts.

Legacies: Knowledge and experience in promoting legacy giving programmes.

Strategic Planning:

Strong strategic thinking and planning skills are essential. Fundraising Manager should be able to develop and implement comprehensive fundraising plans aligned with organisational goals.

Responsibilities:

Develop and Implement a Fundraising Strategy:

Work closely with the CEO & the existing team to develop the current fundraising strategy aligned with organisational goals.

Individual Giving:

Plan, execute, and evaluate Individual Giving campaigns to increase donor acquisition, retention, and engagement.

Implement effective direct marketing strategies, online campaigns, and other initiatives to drive regular giving.

Major Donors:

Cultivate and steward relationships with Major Donors, ensuring personalised engagement and a high level of donor satisfaction.

Develop strategies to identify and secure major gifts from individuals

Legacy Giving:

Promote legacy giving programmes and work on initiatives to encourage donors to include ROLDA in their wills.

Trusts Management:

The Role

You will lead the Trusts and Foundations income generation across projects, supported by the Director of Development and Head of Development, to secure grants for the organisations and its work. You will effectively develop funding partnerships and relationships aligned to the strategic priorities.  You will manage and deliver the whole cycle of trusts and foundations income generation, including regular prospecting, producing impactful funder reports and maintaining our CRM system.

We are seeking an innovative and creative Director to ensure the delivery of Acis vision, values, and business plan - providing clear direction and effective leadership to support a culture and climate which inspires service excellence. 

This is a brand new position allowing the successful candidate every opportunity to create and drive their strategy. You will play a critical role in shaping and delivering this new Directorate covering community investment. Having recently launched our Corporate Strategy which will take us through to 2030 you will be joining the organisation at the start of a very exciting journey. 

As Director of Community Investment, a typical day might include:

• Liaising with Board Members, the Chief Executive and other Directors on matters of corporate management and business development.
• Working on business strategy and policy formulation at Board and Executive Leadership Team level to help achieve the Company’s overall objectives.

Reporting to: Head of Corporate Partnerships

Location of work: Home-based with approximately one or two office days per month and travel for team days and events. The role may involve some irregular travel throughout England and Scotland. Expenses will be paid in line with our Travel and Expenses policy.

JOB PURPOSE  

As part of the Corporate Partnerships team in the Fundraising and Development directorate, Partnership Development is responsible for leading on securing new, high-value, strategic partnerships to support our vision of ensuring that no child or young person is too hungry to learn now and for good.

As the Partnership Development Lead, you will be responsible for spearheading the development and delivery of the new business strategy, as well as working collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation to pull together and deliver compelling proposals and pitches. The role will line manage the Senior Partnership Development Manager and Partnership Development Manager, working together to achieve the goals and priorities of the team. You will also create, embed and monitor key new business processes such as pipeline management, income forecasting and reporting, and work with the wider Fundraising team to deliver our fundraising strategy. 

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:   

• Lead on the development and delivery of the team’s new business strategy. 

• Keep abreast of restricted and unrestricted funding needs, including our Gift in Kind requirements, managing the process to keep this up to date and building the team’s pipeline to meet these needs

• Use Sales Force to capture and analyse key new business data and KPIs and use insight to inform new business activity.

• Ensure the smooth transition of prospects to a) Partnership Managers, where appropriate working with prospective partners to agree partnership vision, objectives and KPIs in collaboration with them or b) small corporate team. 

• Engage relevant internal colleagues across Policy & Engagement, Finance & Performance and Service Delivery to feed into the partnership development process.

• Support Head of Corporate Partnerships in accurately forecasting new business income for each financial year, and ensure forecast income is updated monthly.

• Ensure all new partnerships have appropriate contractual agreements in place with logo license fees included where appropriate.

• Good working knowledge of best practice new business cultivation processes from identifying to securing new partners through experience gained in charity or corporate sector.

Overview

To date, Global Dialogue’s finances has been overseen by an external accountancy firm. Over the last eighteen months, we have been working towards bringing our finance function in house. This role presents an exciting opportunity for an experienced accountant to take the reins and complete the development and roll out of our internal finance function.

The Head of Finance is a new role within the organisation that is both strategic and handson. In the first phase, the postholder will be required to roll up their sleeves and, with the support of Global Dialogue’s Finance Officer, get stuck into the detail of financial administration, including overseeing twice monthly pay runs, monthly and quarterly closes, and other day-to-day financial management tasks. Alongside this, the role will lead on bringing the finance function fully in house, eventually taking on full responsibility for the preparation of management and statutory accounts, cashflow and FX management, and budgeting and forecasting processes. This role will play a key coaching role for the Finance Officer, with a view to eventually delegating all bookkeeping tasks. The postholder will also be responsible for ensuring finance systems are innovative, robust and fit for purpose, and will be a business partner to our hosted programmes, providing advice on compliance and strategic matters.

Global Dialogue’s role as an international fiscal host means that we have a complex financial model, receive income from diverse streams and manage a high number of restricted funds. Stop Domestic Abuse is an innovative and unique provider of all services to those affected by domestic abuse. They provide inclusive domestic abuse services for adults and children living in Hampshire, Portsmouth and Southampton (population 1.9 million).

As Business Development Director, you will work as a key member of Stop Domestic Abuse’s Executive Leadership Team delivering the organisation’s strategic plans, focusing on securing and managing contracts and grants, management and business development.

Key responsibilities include:

•  Leading,  developing and delivering the income generation and fundraising strategy.
• Drive growth and business opportunities for Stop Domestic Abuse by leading on and developing new proposals for contracts, tenders, and grant applications; ensuring a strong business case and measurable outcomes.
• Develop new business lines which contribute income to support the Stop Domestic Abuse’s aspirations and core functions
• Lead on successful responses for Pre-qualification Questionnaires (PQQs), Invitations to Tender (ITT), grant applications and tender presentations.
• Sustain existing and develop new partnerships with key stakeholders across the sector.
• Lead on, and explore new high value income generation strategies, i.e. high net worth donors, corporate and business sponsorship, individual giving programmes, payroll giving, trading, etc and developing inspiring, motivating, advising and supporting local community groups to raise awareness and to generate income locally.
• Engage local media and develop PR. Leading on the development and creation of high-quality marketing, communication, and promotional tools.
• Take on Data Protection Officer and responsible person for Health and Safety matters and compliance.
• Act as an ambassador for Stop Domestic Abuse, continuing to develop a positive image of the charity with service users, stakeholders and the local community.

The successful candidate will have a relevant qualification (business management, management & leadership, fundraising, data & reporting) or proven track record in management with a particular focus on the women’s sector/domestic violence sector/community and voluntary sector.

Excellent knowledge and understanding of the current funding landscape and evidence of successfully developing opportunities to obtain new funding sources is key, as is a strong knowledge of GDPR, data protection, confidentiality, EEDI and Health and Safety. You must also have a proven track record in developing, implementing, evaluating and monitoring strategic, operational, business and fundraising plans, with a background in developing and executing an income generation strategy. Knowledge of social media platforms and experience in developing/delivering communications across multiple outlets is also crucial.

You must have the ability to lead, enthuse and inspire a team, using personal warmth and humour with the ability to be authoritative yet willing to take account of the views of others and be responsive to them. Proven ability to effectively build the organisation and manage staff capacity, developing a high performing team to ensure the organisation runs smoothly is a must, as is excellent written and oral communication skills, with strong presentational and influencing abilities.
