Head of Communications
Location: The role is based at the Trust’s office in West Berkshire with a minimum of three days per week expected to be worked at our Newbury office. Flexible working arrangements are available with the understanding that this must meet the objectives of the charity and requirements of the role.

Purpose
Key responsibilities and duties
This is an exciting and vital role to shape and deliver a multi-channel communications strategy for a leading mental health charity, focused on supporting the systems around children and young people including parents/carers, schools, colleges and universities. The main responsibilities will include creating and overseeing the activation of the marketing strategy and using data insights and analytics to grow and develop the Trust’s reach and support. The role will also act as the guardian to the organisation’s website as the main resource and marketing hub.
The role will enable the charity to proactively grow awareness, drive engagement and shape understanding of the Charlie Waller Trust by taking an audience-first approach to communicating our impact and purpose in an engaging and strategic way.
As a member of the senior leadership team, the role requires working closely with the CEO and other heads of teams to develop and grow the marketing and communications strategy, to raise awareness of the charity’s resources and to support the generation of income through the marketing of fundraising and workplace activities. The role will also work closely with and report into the Board of Trustees.
We are looking for a strategic thinker, with experience of both traditional and digital marketing. Someone who enjoys working with data and is always on the lookout for interesting angles or new channels or tactics to test. A passion for using marketing to understand and reach new audiences is vital. An analytical eye is needed alongside an ability to be creative and a desire to share success stories to further raise awareness of the organisation and to extend its reach.
Empathy for our audience and the ability to communicate in a way that allows them to feel seen and understood is important; you will need to have strong interpersonal skills, a desire to develop and build a team and to maintain communication and relationships with others across the organisation.
Inquisitive and creative, you’ll enjoy proposing fresh ideas and approaches for marketing with a keen eye for detail and a solid understanding of how marketing sits within the organisation as a whole.
Key Responsibilities and duties
Creating, leading and overseeing the delivery of the organisations marketing strategy including:
- Planning and developing the marketing strategy in line with organisational directives, new resources and initiatives.
- To ensure the appropriate and most effective marketing channels and tactics are used to support the programme and fundraising teams.
- Overall responsibility for the website - direction, content, consistency and tone of voice.
- Use of audience insight and data analysis to determine priorities and curate campaigns, projects and content from across the organisation.
- Development and improvement of user and supporter journeys.
- Marketing project initiation and management.
- Set and oversee marketing budgets
Strategic marketing sign-off including:
- Final sign-off on all website activity - strategy, content, SEO, landing pages and resources.
- Final sign-off of priority campaign materials - publications, newsletters, printed materials and press releases.
Internal and stakeholder communications including:
- Membership of the senior leadership and management teams.
- Assist the senior leadership team and trustees to oversee strategic and operational issues, managing risks related to communications, brand and public image.
- Quarterly marketing reporting to trustees.
- Working in partnership with other agencies on issues of common concern.
- Membership of project group (a cross-departmental group responsible for selecting, tracking and evaluating projects).
- Manage marketing agencies and freelancers to deliver work in line with the marketing strategy in an efficient and timely manner.
HR responsibilities including:
- Overseeing the recruitment to expand the marketing and communications team where required.
- Provide effective management of the communications team (5 direct line reports and 2 other staff).

Overview of Role:
As Human Resources Advisor you will be joining a small, friendly and supportive HR team providing advice and support to managers and staff across the full range of employee life-cycle activities. This is a maternity cover post, so is offered on a fixed term contract for 12 months. As this is a short-term contract, we are looking for someone with HR experience at this level who can also embody our culture as a charity with a Christian ethos.
You will provide HR advice and support, to our Centres of Mission (CoM) (which are local projects run in partnership with Diocese to share the Good News of Jesus); our central services team in Sheffield known as Co.Lab; and our Sheffield based conference centre and accommodation.
The HR Advisor will play a key role in developing and strengthening the relationship between the staff, line managers and HR and ensure we deliver an effective HR service which is aligned with the service to the wider organisation. The post holder will work closely with managers in making sure the Christian ethos and values of Church Army are part of their culture and practice as line managers.
This role suits someone who is a HR generalist with strong knowledge of key HR practices including recruitment and retention, employee relations and development and training. The ideal candidate will be experienced in working in HR and hold a related qualification such as CIPD. As the role will be the link between HR, CoMs and our Co.Lab team, the post holder will play a key part in ensuring the vision, values and ethos of Church Army are evident. PiP has developed a unique reputation for our experience and quality of employment support for adults with learning disabilities. This has led to an increased number of referrals with a focus on employment, an expansion of our in-house social enterprise capacity, and more employers keen to work alongside us to diversify their staff base.
PiP is keen to respond to and meet this demand. This role for us is the next step in doing so, allowing us to increase our job coaching capacity and providing more dedicated resource for students on their employment journey. As to date our coaching has been delivered across our existing staff team.

DOTW UK has a small, high-performing and dynamic services team dedicated to delivering high quality, person-centred healthcare in a fast-paced environment, ensuring exceptional personal and team performance.
We are looking for a GP with experience of providing healthcare to excluded groups outside of regular healthcare settings to play a key clinical role in the development and delivery of services that will support equal access to primary medical services for people seeking asylum in contingency accommodation in Northeast London and delivery of primary care within a HIV outreach project. The outreach services will offer initial health and social assessments, urgent care, and will facilitate GP registration and, and support access to wider healthcare and support services within the area through direct referrals and signposting, and coordination with other local services and partners. We also will deliver HIV support and testing services including clinical consultation to those not registered with a GP.
You will lead by example, with your demonstrable experience delivering person-centred, compassionate care to people seeking asylum or other excluded community, as well as deploying your effective advocacy, coordination, and multi-tasking skills. The role requires emotional agility, and resilience, especially when dealing with complex situations such as mental health crises, trafficking, and homelessness, where you will draw on your experience to manage complex situations calmly and compassionately. You will be someone who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, is committed to high standards of care, and will be able to work productively and constructively within a close-knit team by demonstrating an open and responsive attitude and using your excellent communication skills.
You will have strong IT skills and ideally a driving licence to be able to support us to deliver our services in our dedicated mobile clinic vans. You will have the skills to work independently and manage your own and volunteers' health and safety, sometimes working alone.

As the dedicated charity for Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, the Imperial Health Charity helps hospitals do more through grants, arts, volunteering and fundraising. The charity supports five hospitals—Charing Cross, Hammersmith, Queen Charlotte’s & Chelsea, St Mary’s, and the Western Eye Hospital.
You’ll join a team of three, including Fundraising Manager (line manager), Senior Fundraising Manager and a Fundraising Officer. Supporting with the delivery of the fundraising portfolio, you will provide excellent supporter care to people taking part in events or organising their own activities, as well as managing fundraising products. You will also lead on specific event activities, such as gaming fundraising.
This role is ideal for someone with experience in the charity sector, particularly in community or events fundraising, where you’ve supported or assisted a team with fundraising efforts. Excellent professional development opportunities are on offer and you’ll work on exciting projects.
As Fundraising Officer, you will:
- Provide excellent supporter care to fundraisers taking part in events or organising their own fundraising activity by providing support, guidance and fundraising materials
- Be responsible for managing the fundraising database, including receiving and accurately inputting donations onto the database
- Achieve your own income targets and objectives through proactively seeking out opportunities to promote fundraising among patients and NHS staff across hospital sites and in the local community by utilising existing contacts and developing new ones
- Proactively seek opportunities to grow community and events fundraising income, working in partnership with hospital departments and the wider community
- Promote events and campaigns to the local community, including businesses, schools, patients and NHS staff
Ideal skills and experience:
- Previous experience in a fundraising role in the charity sector, ideally events and/or community fundraising
- Experience of sporting and challenge events fundraising
- Experience working with a wide variety of people and delivering excellent customer service
- Familiarity with fundraising codes of conduct and best practice

The Networks Coordinator position will play a pivotal role in supporting the development of our student networks to create inclusive, dynamic, and engaging communities at UCL, a global top 10 university.

Scleroderma & Raynaud’s UK (SRUK) is the only charity dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by Scleroderma and/or Raynaud’s. They exist to improve awareness and understanding of these conditions, to support those affected, and ultimately to find a cure.
This is an exciting time to join the organisation. SRUK are scaling up to enable them to deliver a significant increase in the level of investment for research so that people affected by Scleroderma or Raynaud’s have access to the most relevant treatment, information and support. They are looking for someone with the drive and ambition to foster strategic partnerships to help make this a reality.
As Head of Research & Information, you will play a key role in delivering an ambitious research strategy to achieve life changing results for people with Scleroderma and Raynaud’s, working closely with those affected and the medical and scientific community.
Working with the Chief Executive the Head of Research & Information will:
- Lead the delivery & further development of SRUK’s research strategy, including delivery of two ambitious data-centric projects – the Patient Registry and the Raynaud’s App
- Proactively identify new strategic research & funding opportunities
- Oversee the delivery of the research grant process and manage the Research Grants Committee.
- Oversee the development and delivery of SRUK’s portfolio of information and support for the Raynaud’s and Scleroderma community.
- Be a source of scientific expertise for the organisation. Develop SRUK in accordance with its constitutional and statutory obligations, financial framework, code of conduct and best practice.
- Report regularly to the Chief Executive on the progress of SRUK’s work and to act as a member of the SRUK’s senior management team.
Requirements:
- Qualified to PhD level or equivalent post-graduate qualification, you will have proven experience of biomedical and/or epidemiological research.
- You can demonstrate a clear understanding of the research grant funding process.
- You have excellent communication skills.
- You have the ability to build successful strategic partnerships across healthcare, health-tech and/or research sectors.
- You have a desire to create positive change and to make a real difference to the application of research to patient benefit, the quality of services and support for people with Raynaud’s and Scleroderma.
The purpose of the role is to plan and deliver strategically the fundraising required for the ongoing success of NCO, enabling this important national music organisation to develop and deliver its mission.
Main Responsibilities
Strategy and Planning
Working with the Chief Executive and Development and Communications Committee to set and lead on the development of NCO’s development strategy, setting fundraising targets in line with strategic objectives.
Oversee all fundraising activity and report to the Chief Executive, NCO Board and Finance Committee on progress towards income targets.
As a member of the Senior Management Team, represent the Development function to ensure full account is taken of development potential whilst contributing towards the leadership and strategic direction of NCO.
Individual Giving
Lead on re-establishing NCO’s Individual Giving programme, drawing on the potential pipeline of current stakeholders (eg parents and alumni) and delegating to/working with the Development Team in its successful delivery.
Lead on new mid/major donor giving and relationships including legacies, personally managing a portfolio of prospects and donors.
Support the Development team to lead in the delivery of NCO’s annual giving programmes, ie Friends and Patrons.
Lead on individual campaigns, working collaboratively with the Development team to maximise opportunities to engage with new supporters through events and matched funding initiatives (eg The Big Give).
Work with the Chief Executive and other senior staff to ensure the continued engagement and support of the NCO Board.
Trusts and Foundations
Lead on fundraising from Trusts & Foundations and other grant giving bodies (excluding statutory funding).
Research and cultivate existing and new funders, working with the Chief Executive, Board and the Development Team to initiate new partnerships and maintaining systems to ensure that those partnerships are successfully managed and sustained.
Prepare compelling major grant applications to secure new funding with sound attention to detail, and work with colleagues by leading and advising on other vital grant applications undertaken by members of the Development team, sharing best practice in fundraising to develop the organisation’s skills.
As part of the Development team, provide appropriate and timely monitoring information to trusts and foundations, as required by their conditions of support including, where appropriate, organising events and visits.
Corporate Fundraising
Lead the Development team on stewarding existing and cultivating new corporate sponsors and ensuring benefits and recognition are delivered across NCO’s marketing channels.
Statutory Funding
Support the Chief Executive and wider team to ensure that NCO fulfils its quarterly and annual reporting requirements to Arts Council England and the Department for Education and in the creation of new funding applications including as part of the next ACE Investment Review.
(NB: The day to day management and reporting requirements of NCO’s NPO and DfE grants will be managed by a newly appointed Business Administrator and overseen by the Chief Executive).
Organisation and Management
Line manage NCO’s Development Manager through individual objective setting and performance management, regular 1:1 meetings and identification of training needs.
Empower the Development team by ensuring they have regular opportunities to develop their skills and experience across different areas of fundraising and through training whilst supporting them wholeheartedly in their professional development.
Inspire and lead the Development team, and set an example, on the application, implementation and adherence to all NCO policies and procedures.
Support the Development team to lead on the development of NCO’s CRM System (Beacon) in specific relation to its fundraising functions, in line with the Data Protection Act.
Maximise the potential of Gift Aid from all donations, supporting the Development team to ensure all donations and payments received are appropriately logged, accompanied by appropriate paperwork and in line with annual audit requirements and submitted in a timely manner.
Produce Development reports for quarterly Board and Finance Committee meetings, attending online and in person as required.
Undertake research and maintain a high level of knowledge about trusts, foundations, individuals, and statutory funding to inform planning.
Represent NCO at conferences undertaking public and media presentations, attending conferences and events and lobbying forums as appropriate
