Job Purpose:
Pelican Parcels has grown from supporting 500 children in our first year, to now helping over 5,700 annually. We have been able to grow at this incredible rate due to the amazing people and organisations across Brighton and Hove. Our fundraising pipeline is overflowing, and our network of supporters continues to grow each year.
We now need to bring in an enthusiastic fundraiser to work alongside our experienced volunteers and trustees, helping us strengthen and grow these relationships.
The Fundraising Manager will implement our fundraising plan. We have been successful in securing all funds needed for 2024/25, so this role will:

Work with the team and Trustees to drive income and secure the annual targets

Oversee fundraising for individual giving, community and events, companies and trusts and foundations, and deliver all aspects of these fundraising strands, with support from the fundraising trustees.

Ensure all fundraising activity is delivered in an effective and integrated way.

Ensure existing donors, as well as new prospects are nurtured.

Work with the two fundraising trustees who will continue to have capacity to support fundraising

PELICAN PARCELS FUNDRAISING MANAGER
Role: Fundraising Manager
Reports to: Shelley Bennett, Co-Founder & Trustee
Contract: Permanent. PAYE.
Salary: £21,000 per annum (£35,000 FTE)
Holidays: pro rata 20 days annually plus bank holidays, plus Christmas office closure e.g., in 2025 this will be an extra 4 days
Review Period: 3 months Notice Period: 2 months
Location: This role will work in a hybrid way. We are based in a warehouse in the centre of Hove, next to Hove Station and expect you to be able to come to the office once a week.
Hours: part-time 3 days a week. We are flexible about working patterns within the week (agreed 1 month in advance). There will be the possibility of working outside standard hours when agreed in advance e.g. open warehouse event, donor cultivation, community fundraising events.

ABOUT US
Pelican Parcels (PP) works in Brighton & Hove to recycle pre-loved essential items for babies and primary school aged children. We take them from families who no longer need them and give them to those who do. We are the only baby bank in the city. In 5 years, we have supported over 20,000 children aged 0-12 as well as pregnant mothers, reflecting the high level of need and deprivation in our city.
In 2023 our 5,774 parcels (an increase of 136% in the last 3 years)

School Uniforms: distributed 387 parcels

Christmas: 3,104 presents

Foodbanks: distributed c.20k nappies & 39 tubs of formula, supporting 605 children

Beds: we give out moses baskets, cots & single beds, blanket & sleeping bag sets & bedding bundles. We are giving out over 5 beds a week.

Books: in November we began supporting nurseries to give out books to pre-school children, supplying 248 books.
We collect items, receive referrals and distribute them to those in need

Collect: We have regular open sessions where people drop off items. Our 29 volunteers sort and organise donations ready for redistribution.

Referral: Once referrals and requests for items are received from partners, our volunteers process and package them.

Distribution: Our parcels are distributed by our partners at scheduled visits, through children's centres, foodbanks, schools and charity networks. Partners collect the parcels from our warehouse or we take them to their places of work.

Our Fundraising Plans
Funding has been achieved so far from diverse sources including Brighton and Hove City Council, individuals (from a few pounds to thousands), a range of trusts and foundations and companies.
We now wish to grow our fundraising programme in response to the demand we are seeing to help more families.
Our income has continued to grow. In 2022/2023 income was £90k, up from £38k in just 2 years. We raised £190k in 2023/2024 and have already raised over £220k for 2024/25.
We know we need to continue to grow to meet demand for our service. We need a bigger warehouse (we have plans to move in early 2025) and additional staff soon afterwards. We have built up reserves to support 3 months of operations costs and the warehouse move of £117k.
We plan to grow our turnover to £250k by 2026/2027. We have already secured 25% of what is needed for 25/26 and 20% for 26/27.
ROLE BACKGROUND
Our trustees Carla Pannett and Lucy Stone take the lead on fundraising for the Charity. Carla and Lucy will continue to support this work and role.
Lucy leads on Trusts and Foundation relationships alongside Brighton and Hove City Council funding applications. We feel confident with our level of work and growth in these areas. We have a number of multiple year funders confirmed, a range of funders who fund annually following applications and a pipeline of new trusts.
Carla leads on corporate partnerships, individual giving, community and events fundraising. We believe there is more growth possible here which is why the role will focus heavily in these areas. One-off and regular donations continue to be made.
We have just completed a crowdfunding campaign in August 2024. £42,198 + Gift Aid (so far) has been raised during the ‘Children in Brighton & Hove need your help’ crowdfunder. It has been a smashing success due to 192 supporters, raising our profile across the city and beyond. This was a mix of trusts and foundation, individual and corporate giving. We want to ensure that we make the most of relationships developed during the crowdfunder.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Principal Accountabilities

Work closely with Pelican Parcels’ Co-founder Shelley Bennett, our Head of Operations, volunteers and Board of Trustees to maintain and create an engaging fundraising programme.

Represent Pelican Parcels at appropriate meetings and events.

Support Pelican Parcels to secure budget-relieving in-kind support.

Draft, design and produce bespoke fundraising applications, resources and reports.

Adhere to best practice in fundraising cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of individuals and corporations and to ensure the appropriate ethical policies and practices are followed.
Individual, community and company giving

Develop and drive the overall individual, community and company giving strategy for Pelican Parcels’ prospecting, cultivation, solicitation and procurement of support, to meet the agreed targets.

Develop external networks and work directly with supporters and prospects through face-to-face meetings, email and written correspondence.

Manage and attend a variety of community fundraising events, including our open warehouse events.

Be responsible for the management and budgeting of an effective and pro-active programme of donor stewardship
Trusts and Foundations

Drive the overall trusts and foundations strategy for Pelican Parcel’s to include prospecting, cultivation, bid writing and reporting, to meet agreed targets.

Provide clear and effective reporting and financial updates on fundraising approaches for the Board of Trustees.

Key Responsibilities
As a Fundraising Compliance Manager, you will take on a varied role including:
- Managing fundraising compliance across telephone and face to face fundraising activities.
- Supporting on wider compliance measure across the Charity. Conducting regular audits and risk assessments of fundraising teams and agencies, providing guidance and training to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
- Developing and delivering of audit trails of third-party agency activity, including site bookings and fundraiser recruitment. with a focus on face-to-face fundraising activities.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Legacy and Individual Giving Officer. You’ll lead on our Legacy and Individual Giving strategy and be part of a group of outstanding fundraisers.
Working closely with the Senior Public Fundraising Manger, you will plan and develop engaging supporter communications and products across multiple channels to multiple individual audiences, including acquisition and retention.
You will create and implement all aspects of legacy fundraising and administer legacy cases in line with best practice - communicating with executors, solicitors and all other aspects of estate administration.

Based in Surrey, the Orpheus Centre is an independent specialist college and charity that focuses on developing independence skills through performing and visual arts and makes dramatic improvements to young disabled adults’ lives.

We are recruiting for a Service Manager who is passionate about supporting survivors who are impacted by domestic abuse and other gender-based crimes. This is a multifaceted, fast paced, and exciting role where you will join our team in Derby to lead on the delivery and development of high-quality refuge and outreach services for survivors of domestic abuse and other gender-based crimes.
The post holder will provide line management and high-quality support to the direct reports in line with Refuge’s policies and procedures. This will include providing supervision on complex and high-risk cases, overseeing operational emergencies, and ensuring high standards of casework. The Service Manager will lead on the delivery of the multiagency aspect of work, working jointly with the Refuge teams and wider stakeholders to deliver best services to the survivors.
Candidates must have proven experience of providing direct emotional and practical support to vulnerable people, managing, and motivating staff, managing casework as well as working within multiagency setting. In addition, you must have an excellent knowledge of domestic abuse and other gender-based violence and its impact on survivors. You will have knowledge of relevant Criminal and Civil law legislation, as well as Housing and Health and Safety legislation.
As part of this role, you will be required to participate in an out-of-hours on call rota.

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Service Manager to step into the role of Domestic Abuse Refuge Manager and lead our service in West London. This is a 9-month fixed-term contract covering maternity leave from February 2025. Penrose Women's Refuge provides support and accommodation to women and children at risk of domestic abuse. The Children and Family Worker will work in partnership with the mums and support mentor to ensure holistic and trauma informed support for children living in the service. This includes developing a range of age appropriate activities, support with accessing schooling and education and supporting the mums during a challenging time. As a team, you will work to develop a structure and a safe space for women and children to heal and thrive. Due the the nature of the service the post code has been removed however, service is based in West London.
Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. 9:00AM - 17:00PM, Onsite this is a service based role. You will also be required to take part in our rota for out of hours on call duty.

ISEAL is looking for an experienced MEL professional to build and deliver its organisational M&E function, work closely with other areas of the organisation on MEL related activities, and convene a community of practice on MEL.
This new role will lead on a range of MEL related activities, from supporting the upcoming ISEAL strategic plan development and putting in place appropriate systems to monitor progress, to ensuring the organisation is making best use of available data to draw out learning and to measure results. Working closely with internal leads across a range of workstreams, the role will support in designing programme evaluations and outcome monitoring tools and processes. With colleagues from relevant focus areas, the MEL Manager will co-deliver learning at ISEAL.
Another important component of this role (roughly 30-40%) will be working with ISEAL’s Membership and Credibility team to support member organisations in implementing the ISEAL Code and ISEAL membership requirements related to MEL. The MEL Manager will be the content lead for ISEAL’s training events on M&E topics and will co-lead the M&E Community of Practice, a peer learning space for ISEAL Community members.
We are looking for someone with a range of expertise in MEL across different organisations, with a strong preference for specific experience with sustainability systems or standard organisations or comparable settings. The ideal candidate will thrive on delivering effective MEL activities in a standalone role, as well as bringing the expertise and training or facilitation skills necessary to advise others and support peer learning on related topics. They will have a strongly collaborative approach and a genuine interest in sustainability systems and learning and improvement.

- Ensure learning and recommendations on MEL are documented, disseminated and considered when designing new projects or programmes

Salary
£57,500.
Plus additional London contribution of £2,600 for London-based candidates.Pro rata for part-time candidate.

ROLE PURPOSE
The High Value Officer will be instrumental in supporting the High Value team at St George’s Hospital Charity across multiple income streams; corporate partnerships, trusts and foundations, special events, and major donors.
This role will work closely with the Trusts, Foundations and Corporate Partnerships Manager and Head of High Value to achieve an annual £1.5 million fundraising target, with an aim to support the growth of High Value income to £2.5 million over the next five years and by 29/30.
The Officer will also lead the organisation and execution of the special events calendar, including our flagship Fundraising Gala, which aims to raise £250,000
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
High Value Fundraising
• Support the High Value team in the management of key supporters – ensuring the provision of briefings, preparation of proposals, reports and fundraising materials.
• Provide High Value prospecting support for Manager, Head of and Director at all giving levels
• Cultivate and manage relationships with major donors, Trusts & Foundations and corporate partners of £10k and below providing tailored stewardship experiences to encourage continued support and repeat giving. Whilst we anticipate these relationships will be £10k and below, please note this isn’t arbitrary and may be subject to change given our development. • Represent the charity across the Trust at various events and meetings.
• Collaborate with senior volunteers and stakeholders to identify new prospects and open networks of support.
• Re-engage lapsed donors with tailored communications, showcasing new initiatives and opportunities for involvement.
• Support the management of the philanthropy pipeline, ensuring that leads are appropriately cultivated and monitored throughout their journey.
• Develop compelling proposals, grant applications, and donor communications to ensure high-quality interactions and successful fundraising outcomes.
• Collaborate with the Head of High Value and Director of Fundraising and Communications to analyse data and identify opportunities for pipeline growth across all income streams.

Organisation
• Take the lead in planning and implementing the charity’s special events calendar, including the annual Fundraising Gala, ensuring all aspects are well-coordinated to achieve fundraising targets.
• Work closely with internal teams and external partners to secure sponsorship, manage logistics, and create engaging experiences for attendees.
• Develop post-event reports and analysis to assess success and identify areas for improvement in future events.
Administration & Reporting
• Support the High Value team to maintain accurate records of communications and interactions on our Raiser’s Edge database with supporters in line with data protection obligations and lead on best practice.
• Review and refine our database processes so we can monitor our Key Performance Indicators and use this data to maximise income generation potential.
• Work with the fundraising team and finance to process and record high value income on our systems.
• Provide regular progress reports to the Head of High Value and Director of Fundraising and Communications, highlighting achievements, challenges, and areas for strategic focus.
General Duties
• Participate actively in team meetings, contributing ideas and insights to enhance team performance and collaboration.
• Using our communications toolkit, incorporate our branding and tone of voice across all assets.
• Ensure our website pages and social media presence regarding High Value partnerships and events are kept up to date.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the Fundraising and Communications team on shared initiatives, such as events, collateral and so on.
• As and when required, provide front desk coverage, welcoming visitors and donors at the Welcome Office and serving as a friendly and helpful representative of the organisation.
