Fundraising Manager
The Fundraising Manager will be a key player in ensuring the sustainability and growth of Cambridge Science Centre.
This role requires someone who can write compelling funding proposals, build relationships with charitable trusts, foundations, and corporate partners, and remain flexible in adapting to emerging trends.
This position involves close collaboration with the CEO and other senior team members to align efforts with CSC’s strategic priorities.
Key Responsibilities
• Contribute to the development of CSC’s overall fundraising strategy, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities and long-term goals.
• Craft compelling funding applications and project reports tailored to the objectives of charitable trusts, foundations, and corporate partners, showcasing CSC’s innovative programmes and measurable impact.
• Develop and manage a schedule of approaches for new, lapsed, and existing funders, ensuring proposals are aligned with each funder’s unique priorities and interests.
• Collaborate with internal teams to identify funding opportunities, report on outcomes, and clearly communicate the impact of CSC’s work to stakeholders.
• Monitor trends in the funding landscape, adapting strategies to explore emerging opportunities.
• Provide support to the CEO in preparing presentations and materials for funder pitches and donor meetings.
• Confidently represent CSC in various settings to build trust, strengthen relationships, and secure funding support.

Working Conditions
The primary location for this role will be Cambridge Science Centre's Head Office at 44 Clifton Road, Cambridge, CB1 7ED. However, we offer the option of flexible hybrid working.
This role is also eligible for a performance-related bonus.
Standard working hours are 7.5 hours per day

Purpose of This Role:
NASP is a highly ambitious charity, founded by government and working across diverse
sectors to improve healthcare in England and across the world through the development of
social prescribing. This is a senior leadership role to shape our future strategy and develop
existing and new partnerships with government departments, national agencies, charities,
business, the NHS and others to deliver this.
We are seeking an experienced senior leader, an optimist with strategic vision and a high
degree of intellect who can collaborate with other leaders to design and deliver solutions to
our most pressing problems in health and wellbeing. The postholder will navigate highly
complex systems and networks and need to be very politically astute, diplomatic and excel
at building relationships with trust and integrity.
The Executive Director for Strategy and Partnerships is the second most senior role in
NASP, with a remit for leadership across the organisation and responsibility to deputise for
the CEO. The core purpose of the role is to form strong relationships and partnerships with
leaders from diverse sectors and co-produce strategies and programme plans for joint work.
Existing formal partnerships include agreements with national ‘arm’s length’ bodies such as
Sport England and Natural England, and charities such as Independent Age. It includes line
management responsibilities for staff seconded by partners or employed directly by NASP,
to deliver partnership plans and priorities. The role includes the strategic leadership of multi
million-pound programmes reporting to government departments (for example working
closely with DEFRA to lead the Treasury-funded ‘Tackling and preventing mental ill health
through green social prescribing’ programme). Therefore, a focus on delivery and achieving
outputs and outcomes is just as important as strategic vision.
NASP also works internationally and there will be opportunities to travel regularly, for
example supporting our network of global contacts with events (most recently the Canadian
International Social Prescribing Conference).
The ideal candidate will be highly articulate, a persuasive public speaker, with a proven track
record of delivering complex high impact partnerships which make a measurable impact.
You will need to be comfortable advocating for social prescribing at the highest level; to
government ministers and officials, CEOs of large organisations and global partners such as
Movember, Amazon and the World Health Organization.

The role
The stewardship manager will report to the senior philanthropy operations manager.
We are seeking a creative and driven stewardship manager to join our team on a permanent basis. Working alongside members of the wider team, you will lead on creating and delivering a gold-standard experience for major donors supporting the Royal Free Charity, showcasing the impact their support has across our hospital sites. Your efforts will play a key role in ensuring continued, uplifted support of the charity.
You will play an important role within our philanthropy & campaigns team, helping to build relationships, and increase income, in a pivotal year for the charity. The role will offer significant scope for development, giving you the opportunity to grow your skillset in a supportive, ambitious, and high-performing team.
Responsibilities
· Work with members of the philanthropy & campaigns team to create and deliver a gold-standard stewardship experience for major donors supporting the Royal Free Charity, being actively involved across the cycle of a relationship before, during and after a gift.
· Lead on the charity’s approach to thanking and recognition of our major donors.
· Develop high quality and bespoke impact reports, newsletters and communications for supporters to convey the impact of their support, bringing them closer to the cause.
· Develop other key stewardship touchpoints and engagement opportunities for supporters, while remaining aware of different levels of giving.
· Work proactively in identifying potential stewardship opportunities, sharing ideas and suggestions with members of the team.
· Develop a plan for stewarding corporate supporters.
· Support our special events manager with developing and implementing a high-quality events programme, tailored to the interests of our audiences.
· Act as a subject matter expert on all donor relations and stewardship delivery queries.
· Work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation (particularly fundraising and communications colleagues) and hospital sites, to collate information and content to support stewardship activities.
· Monitor and evaluate the delivery and impact of stewardship activities, proactively seeking to improve our offer.

The team
Our dynamic fundraising department generated £4.5 million through donations in 2023/2024, and we are now preparing for an ambitious multi-million-pound campaign in support of a ground-breaking cancer centre on the Royal Free Hospital site.
We ride ourselves on being supporter focused and agile, working at the heart of the charity to deliver impact for patients and staff across our hospitals.
Responsible for attracting and retaining donors, and delivering an outstanding supporter experience, the fundraising department comprises two teams which work closely together to achieve our shared objectives:
· Our Philanthropy & Campaigns team builds relationships with individual philanthropists, trusts, foundations, corporate organisations, and intermediaries, giving or facilitating donations of £10,000 or more to the charity each year. They lead major appeal activity for the charity, currently focused on the acquisition of a new surgical robot, our forthcoming cancer campaign, our essential volunteering, complementary therapy and support services, the charity’s first patrons’ programme, and special events to support these activities.
· Our Public Fundraising team harnesses the support and energy of individuals and groups, helping them to give back in the way that works for them. This includes committed giving, in memory support, gifts in wills, and fundraising events and challenges. Our database and supporter care teams sit within public fundraising, with their work underpinning and supporting the entire department.
Building on our achievements, our board of trustees has agreed to invest in expanding the fundraising team to develop a sustainable infrastructure that will support our growth ambitions.

The Leeds centre is funded via a range of commissioners both statutory and non-statutory, and you will lead on the contract and performance management including relationships with commissioners. Alongside the Director of Services and wider management team you will also contribute to the effective leadership of the organisation, ensuring our operational and strategic objectives are met.
Key Accountabilities:
Service Delivery and Management
- Lead the operational management of TW services in Leeds ensuring intensive high-quality, trauma responsive support is provided to women and girls accessing the services
- Develop and manage a service plan for Leeds that incorporates key milestones and ensures delivery of project outputs and outcomes
- Monitor delegated budget responsibility, ensuring that the services operate within the agreed budget
Staff Management
- Line manage direct reports and ensure that all staff receive regular support, supervision and performance review, case management, training and development in line with TW policies and procedures
- Deliver team meetings, reflective practice, and staff learning and development opportunities
- Effectively manage a dispersed team ensuring team cohesion and consistency in approach and practice.
Communication/Contracts and Partnerships
- Take overall responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective partnerships and referral pathways
- Lead on the contract and performance management including all relationships with commissioners
- Organise and attend external meetings/events as appropriate, actively participating and disseminating information to colleagues. This includes sitting on steering groups and attending multi-agency panels to discuss the needs and challenges facing TW customer group, develop robust sector-wide responses, inform, and improve internal services to ensure they are fit for purpose.
- Design and deliver training for professionals in the region to improve responses to women and girls affected by the social justice system
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Ensure that all project staff maintain accurate, confidential customer records, following TW policies and procedures, and contribute to the maintenance of the projects’ monitoring and recording systems
- Produce monitoring and evaluation reports in line with funder and other key stakeholder requirements
Funding
- Identify relevant fundraising opportunities and support TW senior management team to prepare funding applications, identify commissioning opportunities, which support the long-term sustainability of existing and new services
- Attend meetings with potential new funders to secure new funding streams, ensuring that the project outcomes are achievable and measurable
- Work with colleagues within TW and/or external partners to establish new services/projects when funding applications are successful

Help YMCAs fundraise themselves by providing assets, propositions and advice for local YMCA fundraisers
What you’ll do
Build strong working relationships with YMCA Federation partners; your style is supportive! You will oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
Strategically oversee the development and implementation of fundraising frameworks and models, for Trusts and Grants and Corporate Partnerships.
Guide the establishment of a combined Trusts model (again working with our partners in local YMCAs) whilst building upon a collaborative corporate fundraising model to optimise partnership opportunities. You’ll help take us to the next level!
Contribute to the development of a funding strategy which may include commissioning, as a new organisational strategy launches. You’ll involve the team in its development and provide clear direction in the ultimate delivery.
Work alongside the Assistant Head of Public Fundraising to support and deputise for the Head of Fundraising when necessary.
Drive sustainable income growth for YMCA England & Wales through development of strategic partnerships, including trusts and grants and corporate partnerships.
Identify new national opportunities and develop ways of working to enable us to help local YMCA to generate their own funding.
Provide practical operational leadership and delivery of fundraising targets, developing an already dynamic, high performing fundraising team.
Build excellent working relationships throughout the charity.
Bring effective and inspiring leadership to coach and develop existing staff.
Recruit new talent to maximise fundraising opportunities.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a driven, creative, and inspirational leader from the Charity Sector. You’ll have led teams and are a natural at building relationships.
This role reports to the Head of Fundraising and works closely within a vibrant team as well as across the whole of YMCA England & Wales. You will have experience of managing multiple internal and external relationships.
Your early career will have seen you gain fundraising expertise in corporate partnerships or trusts and grants (or both!)
