MAIN RESPONSABILITIES
Reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive as a member of the Leadership Team. Responsibilities for Fund raising are distributed across many roles in the organisation, but you will be responsible for the development and delivery of the organisational Fundraising Strategy, paying particular attention to the diversification of our funding portfolio and ensuring all teams are supported to achieve their fundraising goals.

Your main focus will be on diversifying our funding sources, growing our income from major donors and corporate supporters and increasing our effectiveness and reach with trusts and foundations. You will have the autonomy to shape the role and make it your own. The Marketing & Fundraising Manager will play a pivotal role in driving our organisation’s fundraising and marketing initiatives. You will be responsible for developing and implementing innovative fundraising strategies and impactful marketing campaigns, building strong relationships with donors and stakeholders, and advising senior leadership on trends and opportunities in fundraising. Additionally, you will work closely with the Executive Director and line-manage three direct reports, a wider internal telemarketing team and various consultants and service providers. This role is ideal for a proactive individual who is passionate about making a difference and skilled in engaging and building diverse audiences.

The Wallich is one of the most important organisations working to combat homelessness in Wales. The Wallich has grown in size over the last decade, making us the largest Welsh-focused charity working in the sector. But with 132 services, 500 staff and supporting 8,000 people a year, we have so much more to do.

After a detailed review of our fundraising, we are looking for an experienced Head of Fundraising to build on our solid foundations. We want someone with imagination and proven expertise to create a bold income generation programme that will help us to continue innovating and enable us to deliver our mission to end homelessness in Wales.

You will have to guide our team of talented fundraisers, introduce and grow initiatives to meet your fundraising targets and you will galvanise a willing organisation to engage with our wonderful donors. We need to build our income from individuals and from our events, as well as grow our incredible partnerships with businesses and our Wallich community.

About the role

A thorough Membership Review was undertaken during 2024 to address several key Linnean Society objectives in the new strategy: (1) to grow, diversify and support our members to expand their capacity in support of our mission; (2) to develop income streams including philanthropy and legacies to ensure financial sustainability and expand our programmes; and (3) to mobilise our membership to be ambassadors and advocates for nature.

The appointment of this new post is one of the recommendations in the Review. The postholder will develop and implement a new membership and fundraising strategy that delivers the above Linnean Society strategic objectives, in consultation with the CEO. The Review will provide useful data and insights towards the delivery of these strategic objectives.

The post-holder will be responsible for membership development (acquisition, retention and advancement) of our community of members, comprising Fellows and Associates, and play a vital role in helping to build a vibrant, active and engaged community. They will also be responsible for developing a donor journey, including a clear and compelling case for support, and a legacy giving programme. 

As this is a new role for the Linnean Society, the postholder will have the opportunity to have a real impact, helping to grow and protect the Society. They will report to the CEO and are expected to be a collaborative and active member of the Senior Management Team.

Main Duties

Strategic

• Working with the CEO and colleagues across the Society, the postholder will be responsible for developing and implementing a new Membership and Fundraising Strategy, with associated plans and budgets.
• Set, manage and monitor annual membership and fundraising plans and budgets – including activities, targets and return on investment – and provide quarterly reports.
• Develop the Linnean Society’s donor journey and ‘ladder of giving’, promoting giving from one-off donations through to higher level gifts and legacies.
• Develop a compelling case for support.
• Act as Secretary to the Fellowship Committee, engaging new Fellows in the mission of the Society and identifying those who can support in a significant way.

Operational

• Chair the new Membership Working Group comprising staff from across the Society to deliver the recommendations in the Membership Review.
• Responsibility for the entire membership journey, managing all services for acquisition, engagement and retention, including member communications.
• Act as first point of contact for all members’ queries in relation to their membership and be the membership champion within the Society
• Work closely with the Events & Communications Manager to devise an annual events schedule that appeals to existing and potential future members.
• Maintain accurate membership, donor and legacy data and records using the Society’s CRM system. 
• Conduct regular membership surveys to understand what our members value about their engagement with the Society.
• Seek out and develop philanthropic relationships with individuals, grant-giving trusts and foundations whose interests align with the Linnean Society.
• Enable the donor journey with dedicated stewardship.
• Create a legacy ‘circle’ programme with ongoing communications and activities to engage and retain legacy ‘intends’.
• Create and maintain relevant web pages.
• Work with SMT colleagues to create compelling applications to grant-giving trusts and foundations to support the Society’s work.
• Perform data interrogation to discover prospects, trends or customer level insight, practicing and nurturing a culture of horizon scanning and innovation.

Person specification

Essential

• Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
• Successful track record of managing and developing a membership programme including the delivery of membership or fundraising events.
• Experience of writing inspiring and compelling appeal literature and membership communications.
• Experience of creating a compelling case for support and/or donor journey with a demonstrable understanding of the hierarchy of access.
• Ability to develop and implement fundraising plans and strategies to meet income targets and deadlines.
• Experience of solicitation of HNW and grant-giving trust and foundation prospects and donors.
• Experience of proposal writing for philanthropic support from individuals and/or grant-giving trusts and foundations.

As an experienced and qualified CIMA Accountant, you will provide the charity with proven Business Partnering with Management Accounting experience skills, including BI reporting, stakeholder management and risk mitigation work. You will work as part of a small, dedicated team responsible for the effective management and control of the financial functioning of a medium sized dynamic Charity. This is a pivotal role leading the financial outcomes, which will directly support senior leadership and top-level decision making and closely partner an array of key non-finance colleagues across the charity and its trading company.

Alongside artistic excellence, fundraising has been vital to AAM’s success since it registered as a charity in 2000. The orchestra’s financial strength stems from the ongoing generosity of an ever-expanding family of supporters who donated more than £430k last year to sustain AAM’s work.

Overall, the orchestra is funded by a mixture of income generated by concerts in the UK and abroad, royalties and other residuals, Orchestra Tax Relief and a large group of private donors (individuals and trusts & foundations). AAM does not receive regular public funding, though the current season marks the beginning of a four-year collaboration with the Arts and Humanities Research Council which will have a significant impact on the core funding of the organisation, as well as our ability to deliver several extraordinary projects.

Individual giving at AAM is supported by three membership schemes: Academy, Associates and Friends. Together, these make up the orchestra’s closest group of supporters. These individuals are at the heart of our work, and we are committed to developing deep and long-lasting relationships with them all. Alongside membership, the AAM Legacy Circle was established in 2013 to recognise AAM supporters who have informed us of their intention to remember the orchestra in their wills. Dame Emma Kirkby, one of AAM’s most distinguished collaborators, is the Circle’s Founder Patron. ABOUT THE ROLE 

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Associate Director to join RedR and its Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to oversee the efficient and effective functioning of our organisation's key operational areas, including Operations, People Management, Finance, Security and Compliance. The Associate Director will play a pivotal role as part of the SLT in ensuring the smooth implementation of our humanitarian programmes while upholding the highest standards of excellence, accountability, integrity, collaboration and lifelong learning.

You will have a deep understanding of how to deliver programmes in a humanitarian context in a safe, secure and compliant manner. You will enhance delivery through standard operating procedures across the organisation and lead by doing.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Financial Management 

You will lead a finance team of 2 (both part-time), responsible for excellent financial management, controls, reporting, budgeting, and auditing (both internal and external) including: 

• Maintaining up-to-date financial records, including processing invoices, payments, and managing accounts payable and receivable. 
• Month-end and year-end closing procedures.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations. 
• Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, managing cashflow. 
• Oversee payroll processing and reimbursement procedures. 
• Analysis of financial data and preparation of reports for leadership review. 
• Set standards for programme staff on financial budgeting and reporting 
• Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations and best practices. 
• Lead the improvement of finance and accounting processes and systems. 
• Prepare consolidated Financial Statements in accordance with Charity SORP FRS 102. 
• Lead on external audits to ensure that all external audit requirements are met in the UK and Jordan and associated statutory reporting (e.g. to HMRC).

• Provide administrative support to the Operations, IT functions of the organisation.

Womankind Worldwide is a global women’s rights organisation working in partnership with women’s rights movements and organisations to transform the lives of women and girls. Role Purpose

The Director Programmes & Learning (DPL) leads the strategic development, implementation, quality assurance and technical learning for Womankind’s portfolio of partnership programmes including grant making in our focus countries, in line with our organisational strategy - Our Feminist Future.

As a member of the senior management team the DPL works closely with the Director Policy & Communications, Director Fundraising & Marketing and Director Finance & Resources, under the leadership of the co-CEOs to contribute to the overall leadership and strategic direction of the organisation.

Responsibilities

1. Strategic leadership

• To work with the leadership team on strategic level policy, planning and systems development in relation to Womankind’s programmes, partnerships, financing, learning and sustainability.
• To lead the development and delivery of an effective feminist partnerships sub- strategy, aligned with organisational strategy.
• Lead the development of and manage the annual budget, and mid-year forecasts for the Programmes & Learning team including oversight of restricted and designated expenditure.
• Engage with Womankind partners in our focus countries to ensure our programmes and grantmaking are grounded in in their realities and contexts.
• Work with the SMT to ensure a strategic, planned, effective and integrated approach across Womankind’s work.
• As an SMT member engage with and report on performance against programmes and grantmaking plans to the Board of Trustees.

2. Organisational and team leadership

• Lead, manage, support and develop the Programmes & Learning team, in a hybrid/flexible working environment in line with our feminist values and ways of working, our wellbeing strategy and strategic goal to value our team.
• Ensure team members have relevant skills and knowledge and share learning across the organisation.

• Support timely and effective planning and decision-making at staff, SMT and Board levels.

• Play a key role in rolling out Womankind’s strategy through planning and implementation in the functional areas you lead.

3. Design and implement projects, programmes and Flexible Funding initiatives

• Work with the Programmes & Learning team to motivate and support the design and delivery of small, medium and large partnership projects and programmes.
• Work with the Fundraising & Marketing team on major funding applications, including undertaking technical review and sign off. This includes input into the development portfolio and emerging plans in cooperation with the Fundraising & Marketing team to support their work to match funding opportunities with Womankind and partner priorities.
• Responsible for overall program management of key Womankind programmes/projects ensuring donor and internal compliance and technical quality assurance.
• Take principal responsibility for the delivery of results from programmes and grantmaking within the Programmes & Learning team portfolio.
• Lead and provide oversight for the Movement Strengthening Fund and Strategic Partner Support Grants to ensure that they remain relevant and responsive to partner needs. In addition, ensure that grantmaking implementation is informed by the best practices of flexible funding, shifting power and decolonisation approaches.
• Work with the Policy & Communications team to provide strategic and practical input on projects and programmes where relevant and appropriate.

4. Communications, representation, networking and profile building

• Identify and engage in opportunities to further develop Womankind’s reputation and profile in relation to programmes and partnerships approach.

• Participate in UK-based and international NGO and women's movement networks and to develop, cultivate and maintain strong relationships.

• Established feminist leader with experience of working with women’s rights organisations and feminist movements, human rights and international development networks or coalitions in the UK and internationally, including demonstrable commitment to feminist analysis and practice.

Main purpose and scope of the role

This is a pivotal leadership role within the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) at Medical Detection Dogs (MDD), combining strategic oversight with hands-on operational involvement. As Head of Fundraising, you will lead the development and delivery of MDD’s income generation strategies across multiple streams. Reporting to the Head of Supporter Engagement, the Supporter Journeys Manager is responsible for both managing our Dynamics 365 marketing platform (both processes and data) and working across all FundComm teams to create and support delivery of a cohesive automated Supporter Journeys Strategy.

Having recently moved to a new CRM Dynamics 365, which also includes a new email and SMS marketing platform, we now have access to improved functionality for automated Journeys. The Supporter Journey Manager is a new role to support our ambitious FundComm goals around growth, income and engagement, fully utilising the potential of the new platform, as well as overseeing the testing program on all our website and online conversion forms. 

Though primarily a digital focused role, the overall objective of the role is to ensure all journeys are designed to best meet FundComm overall goals while providing an optimal supporter experience. This will be done through creation of a Journey Strategy and plan for audience-led journeys across all channels, asks and platforms. As well as being responsible for design and delivery of some of the key journeys, it also involves an advisory and governance role for all FundComm automated journeys and online forms, ensuring they’re designed to maximise engagements, income and conversions along each stage in Brooke’s Engagement funnel 

Criteria 

The role requires working collaboratively across FundComm using Brooke’s project management principles, with line management of the Supporter Engagement & Experience Officer and Senior Journeys Officer who manages the online landing page and forms testing program. The role ensures all existing and future journeys are mapped and documented, and creating a cross-team process to test, share learning and optimise them on an ongoing basis.

We’re looking for someone who is organised and will enjoy coordinating workshops and ideas generation to recommend plans for which new journeys should be built, inspiring teams with training on best practice in journey design and copywriting. The role would suit someone target driven, with strong experience of coordinating cross team projects, while motivated to deliver high quality service.

As a key part of the role is creating, communicating and maintaining new processes, as well as governance of all source code structures and data marketing lists and journey entry rules, you’ll need to be very confident working with large data sets. Experience of designing and building automated email journeys in a similar platform and online donation page testing is essential.
