At a local level, Healthwatch Barnet works to help people get the best from their health and social care services, whether it's improving them today, or helping to shape them for tomorrow. Healthwatch Barnet is about local voices being able to influence the delivery and design of their services, not just for the people who use them, but anyone who might need to use them in future.

Interim Deputy Director of Programmes - WasteAid

WasteAid is an international non-governmental organisation that works in low and middle-income countries to implement environmental and economic empowerment programmes, focusing on support to nascent green businesses and grassroots entrepreneurs. The work improves the livelihoods of some of the poorest and most marginalised, promotes circular economy innovation and contributes to a cleaner and healthier future for all.

Our programmes focus predominantly on the reduction of plastic, organic, textile and e-waste pollution in areas of the world that have no formal waste management systems.

INTERIM DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF PROGRAMMES JOB DESCRIPTION

This is an interim position, but the position will become permanent in due course through a separate recruitment.

This role is a member of WasteAid’s Senior Management Team.

Purpose of Role

The purpose of this role is to ensure the effective management and delivery of WasteAid’s global programme, providing leadership, capacity building and support to WasteAid’s international programme team and ensuring effective resource mobilisation.  This role reports to the Director of Programmes and supports that role in scaling, trialling and evolving WasteAid’s current programme approach.

Major Responsibilities:

Leadership and Representation

• Provide leadership and supervisory management for WasteAid’s programmes team, including mobilisation and stewardship of resources, programme quality accountability, and performance management.

• Participate actively in country programme management, coordination, and strategy meetings with Director of Programmes and members of the country team.

• Work closely with Finance colleagues to ensure timely budget development, financial planning and cost management.

• Support the Director of Programmes to actively engage with donors, partner organisations and external stakeholders to ensure WasteAid is strongly represented.

• Conduct regular field visits to support programme teams

Supporting Strategic Direction, Program Quality and Growth

• Provide cohesive leadership to WasteAid’s global programme teams ensuring that priorities and opportunities identified are in line with organisational strategy and approach which includes scaling of current programmes and the identification of further areas of intervention.

• Work closely with the Head of Strategy and Impact to support the programme team with regarding tools and strategies to ensure that programming is based on input from communities, local partners and local/national stakeholders, a thorough understanding of the context, and technical best practices

• Work with Director of Programmes and colleagues in the country programme to identify funding opportunities and support the development of competitive, responsive proposals; meet with potential partners (and donors as appropriate) to discuss current and potential funding opportunities.

• Work with the Senior Management Team to develop programme budgets, which reflect a detailed understanding of situational parameters, beneficiary needs, available resources and technical possibilities including partnership capabilities.

• Working collaboratively with the Senior Management Team, support MEAL approaches to adapt and implement appropriate monitoring and evaluation systems that enhance programme quality, increase effectiveness and measure results.

Staff Performance Management and Development

• Supervise and mentor direct-report staff, including communicating clear expectations, setting performance objectives, establishing a supportive environment while emphasizing accountability, providing regular and timely constructive performance feedback, and leading documented semi-annual performance reviews.

• Maintain open and professional relations with team members, promoting a strong team spirit and providing oversight and guidance to enable staff to successfully perform in their positions.

• Promote and monitor staff care and well-being. Model healthy work-life balance practices. Support appropriate interventions in response to identified staff care needs of staff.

• Work with HR to identify and implement recruitment and retention strategies.

Grant Monitoring & Partner Management

• Supervise the Grants Finance Officer.

• Support and supervise implementation of strong Project Management Cycle processes and tools including budgeting and planning and grant meetings such as Budget vs Actuals Meetings, Grant Opening, Mid-Term, and Closing Meetings, ensuring follow up on action points.

• Through the Grants Finance Officer ensure that all programmes are compliant with their respective donor regulations

• Support the Director of Programmes in having a solid partnership strategy for appropriate programmes.

• Ensure programme staff proactively maintain positive relationships with partners, including ongoing capacity building and mentoring,

Job Requirements:

· Educated to degree level, masters in a relevant subject would be desirable.

·  At least 10 years of progressively responsible professional experience managing complex international development programming, ideally with a climate or environmental element.

· Demonstrated successful leadership experience managing a multi-disciplinary team and cross-cultural dynamics.

· Strong diplomatic and coordination skills.

· Demonstrated ability for accurate analysis of complex issues, strong decision-making, and translation of programmatic priorities into operational strategies.

·  Proven track record of leading multi-location teams.

·  Repeated, successful experience delivering appropriate levels oversight for a portfolio consisting of a variety of complex, donor-funded projects.

· Demonstrated experience in developing successful funding proposals

· Strong oral and written communication skills, with ability to express ideas and concepts clearly and persuasively with senior internal and external stakeholders.

·  Established capacity to deal with ambiguity in stressful situations.

· Ability to respond to multiple priorities in a timely manner, producing high-quality outcomes.

·  Motivated, positive individual who excels at taking initiative and is able to motive team members to produce results under pressure while maintaining a sense of humour.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Events and Partnerships Manager to join our Events and Partnerships Teams. This role will require the successful candidate to proactively lead our Events Team to review and overhaul our current events programme before implementing a varied and exciting refreshed programme which will engage new and current supporters as well as the local community and our children, young people and their families.

Role Requirements

• Working alongside the Head of Public Fundraising, you will strengthen and implement business planning, pipeline and budgeting processes as well as devise comprehensive audience-led stewardship plans, maintaining momentum and focus to achieve targets.  
• Lead the implementation and delivery of the strategy for the Events and Partnerships teams and work with the Head of Public Fundraising and the teams to develop and review strategies to maximise income from events and partnerships
• Manage partnership pipeline including building opportunities with new businesses to increase the range, value and number of partnerships for The Children’s Trust
• Lead the Events team to review and overhaul our current events programme so that we are maximising net income and ROI as well as meeting the needs of our supporters and local community, and building connections and long-term relationships with our events supporters
• Work across the Retail, Fundraising and Communications directorate to maximise opportunities for contact mapping, cross-sell and support the activity of other teams within the directorate (including but not limited to stock donations, sponsorship of committee-led events, pro bono support, gifts in kind etc.)
• Be responsible for the implementation of the budgets and delivery of income and expenditure against the plans
• Bring the Events and Partnerships teams together to ensure that we are seizing opportunities to integrate the programmes, for instance through corporate sponsorships of events, employee volunteering or participation, donated goods for raffles and auctions, match funding and more
• Develop relationships with colleagues across the Public Fundraising Team, wider directorate and organisation to ensure that opportunities for engagement, integration and promotion of events and partnerships are maximised and publicised

The role will be responsible for proactive and reactive media relations; effective engagement on social media; developing engaging content for our website; supporting on Calls for Evidence and drafting copy for marketing materials, including our e-newsletter. A highly autonomous role, you will work closely with our fundraising, counselling, and research teams.

Our ideal candidate would also have experience of working on fundraising and awareness campaigns; and the ability to create content on social media in line with branding guidelines. Experience in developing communications strategies and reporting on Key Performance Indicators are essential.

We're looking to appoint a Senior Programmes Manager - North West (Maternity cover) to help us shape and manage our programmes for young people nationally and lead our work in the North West.

About the role

This opportunity comes at a unique and exciting time in the evolution of our charity, as we look at how we continue to grow our work sustainably and deepen the connections between our youth and land-based work streams.

As Senior Programme Manager, you will have the opportunity to shape our work nationally as well as lead our programmes in the North West of England, enabling us to grow our reach, deepen our impact and ultimately deliver our mission. With support from your manager and in consultation with the other regional Programme Managers, you will translate our annual programme strategy into a robust cross-regional implementation plan covering both programme design and operations and make tangible improvements to enhance efficiency and impact across our regions. You will also be responsible for ensuring that our programmes are delivered as planned, to a high standard in line with best practice and cohesively across regions, and that regional objectives and targets in the North West are achieved.

The UK Men’s Sheds Association (UKMSA) is seeking a skilled and inspirational CEO to lead our charity through the next stage of its development and the continued delivery of our core mission of improving the lives and wellbeing of men (and women) through the Men’s Shed movement across the UK.

We are looking for a Chief Executive with the energy, vision and experience to take on the strategic leadership and direction of our well-respected and fast-growing national charity, which brings tangible benefits to men’s health, mental health and suicide prevention across the UK. Purpose of the Role
As a Senior Regional Lead, you will play a vital role in supporting Local Authorities and housing providers in achieving DAHA accreditation. This role is key to the delivery of DAHA’s strategic goals and will give you the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of domestic abuse survivors across the housing sector.

- Provide supervision and guidance to up to four Regional Leads, helping them achieve their goals and maintain high levels of engagement.
- Work with housing providers and local authorities to promote and support their journey towards achieving DAHA accreditation.
- Plan and deliver workshops, webinars, and training sessions on DAHA standards and domestic abuse housing responses.
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with external partners, including Local Authorities and Registered Social Housing Providers.
