Architecture charity, AzuKo is working to end housing poverty in Bangladesh and the UK. We’re looking for an individual who has experience in a multidisciplinary hands-on leadership role, within the charity sector.
- Role: Head of Operations (maternity cover)
- Location: Remote, UK
- Time: Part-time (2 days per week) for 6 months, with possibility of extension to 1 year

ROLE OVERVIEW
The right candidate will have a strong focus on charity administration and development, financial stability, thinking creatively about opportunities for income, and be a passionate advocate for housing justice.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure AzuKo’s operations and programme delivery are implemented efficiently and effectively.
- Be responsible for overall financial health and administration of AzuKo.
- Ensure AzuKo fulfils its legal, statutory, and regulatory responsibilities.
- Monitor progress towards strategic goals, plans and budgets.
- Inspire and lead an effective remote team, with a common sense of purpose, division of responsibility, transparency, and accountability.
- Work with the Development Officer to drive fundraising (trusts and foundations, and individual giving), innovating approaches towards existing and new supporters, with regular reviews of fundraising pipeline.
- Maintain accurate and transparent records, and filing systems.
- Consult with the Chair and Treasurer, providing regular updates on finance/fundraising, and progress against annual plan.
- Foster good communication internally within AzuKo, and externally.
- Contribute to AzuKo storytelling.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Demonstrable track record of operating at leadership level (CEO, or similar) within a small-medium size charity.
- Comprehensive understanding of UK charity administration, finance and regulatory responsibilities (e.g. Charity Commission).
- Experience of working strategically to source, secure and steward sustainable funding (grant income and individual giving) working within tight financial constraints.
- Knowledge of safeguarding legislation and processes, safety, and quality management.
- Comfortable with digital/remote working e.g. use of One Drive, Slack, Zoom.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel) and accounting software Xero.
- Excellent written and communication skills, able to articulate complex ideas in simple language.
- Passionate about the charity sector, and AzuKo’s cause.
Desirable
- Knowledge of housing issues/poverty, international development and/or women’s rights.
- Experience of securing and managing large multi-year grants for international development.
- Experience of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software.

About You:
Having worked in a third sector direct marketing role previously, you will have experience running effective national and regional campaigns using a variety of fundraising channels including digital, email, social media, direct mail, and telemarketing. With your good organisational and time management skills you’ll be able to meet deadlines and manage conflicting priorities under pressure.
You will have knowledge of usability testing, user research methods and conversion rate optimisation as well as an understanding of fundraising regulator guidance, gambling commission compliance and GDPR.
About The Role
- Manage the delivery of all Retention campaigns from concept through to evaluation, using data and insight to drive creative and production, drawing up schedules, and managing the approval processes
- Work collaboratively with data teams to ensure effective use of supporter profiling for delivery across a range of Retention campaigns
- Manage relationships with external agencies including media houses, designers and printers; to negotiate costs and relevant performance reviews
- Responsibility for collation of all KPI tracking, trend analysis and activity results that feed into the team’s reporting and performance structure
- Work alongside the Content team to research and develop retention. To gather information, case studies and photos for use in all direct marketing campaigns. Where appropriate, to liaise with external agencies such as designers and copywriters

The Journal of the Royal Statistical Society consists of three world leading, peer-reviewed scientific journals of statistics and data science, and we have just launched a new, open access journal – RSS: Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. With our 5-year strategy and the focus on impact in all aspects of the Society’s work, this is a great opportunity to get involved in journal delivery and development, and to further develop your experience within journal publishing.
Pension and benefits: Our defined contribution pension scheme can be joined after three months in post. Your contributions of up to 8% of salary will be double matched by the Society (making a maximum contribution by the Society of 16%). A training budget, season ticket loan, cycle to work scheme and employee assistance programme are also available.
Location: The RSS office is in central London and currently open twice a week. We offer flexible working arrangements and office attendance is encouraged but not mandatory depending on the role. Job purpose:
To support the Journals Manager who oversees and manages the full journal development and delivery process. This includes securing excellent relations with publishers, editors, editorial panels, trustees and authors as well as developing journal strategy in conjunction with many of the same stakeholders.
Key responsibilities:
Support and provide administration for the Society’s editorial panels, Journal Webinar Advisory Group, Discussion Meetings Committee and Publications Network
- Proactively support the editors, chair and members of journal committees and groups as directed by the Journals Manager. This involves developing credible relationships with these stakeholders and the publisher and working to support the Journals Manager to facilitate regular meetings, elicit and disseminate papers, reports and analyses prior to meetings and taking notes/writing of minutes
- Coordinate the process of appointing new associate and joint editors as directed by the Journals Manager and update the membership of journal committees and groups in the Society’s CRM system and other repositories
- Design, develop and deliver a programme of journal webinars, working with the Journal Webinar Advisory Group to select papers, invite the authors and agreed discussants, arrange the meeting and rehearsals, and publicise the events
- Work with team members to promote journal content, news, events and innovations to RSS members
Support journal editorial and production processes
- Liaise regularly with the publisher’s editorial office to ensure the smooth running of the journal peer review process and effective support of editors, reviewers, and authors
- Provide support for the journal production process managed by the Journals Manager and delivered by Oxford University Press (OUP), intervening as necessary to ensure reported problems are quickly and effectively resolved
- Provide reports to the Journals Manager and RSS senior management as required on journal activity plans and performance, including regular collection and updating of journal KPIs.
Journal development
- Support the development and delivery of the annual marketing strategy and associated activity planning by OUP and with other RSS management and stakeholders, including the support of marketing and fundraising initiatives
- Support the journals’ continuous development programme, contributing to the identification and implementation of agreed improvements and innovations
- Actively support all aspects of the new journal and its future development
- Review and update the journals publications pages on the Society’s website and the RSS/OUP hub.
- Organise, publicise, deliver and evaluate RSS journal events, specifically the Journal webinar and Discussion Meetings to proactively support the committee membership and stakeholders, upholding the RSS brand and professional reputation
General administration

Person specification:
Essential
- Knowledge of publication processes, preferably gained through experience working to produce a learned journal
- An understanding of the issues facing peer review journals and an understanding of open-access publishing
- Strong communication and writing skills with high attention to detail, able to communicate confidently and concisely with a wide range of people
- Excellent organisational, coordination and planning skills with the ability to prioritise workload and deliver to deadlines
- Experience of organising meetings including the preparation of agendas, circulation of papers, production of minutes and coordinating actions

ABOUT THE ROLE
Data analysis plays a key part in supporting City Harvest growth and success. We are investing in our technology and data and are now in the process of consolidating several business applications onto the Dynamics 365 platform and standardising Power BI as a reporting tool.
We are recruiting for a Data & Impact Analyst to join the Finance and Data team. This is a new role to our charity which will act as an interface to other departments, to provide meaningful data and insights into the impactful work that we do.
ABOUT YOU
You will be a trained and technically skilled data analyst, experienced with Power BI as a reporting tool and familiar with Dynamics 365 as a CRM platform. This role requires confidence in working across different areas including data management and reporting, systems administration and maintenance. You will be able to effectively demonstrate and present your findings into meaningful data insights, actions and conclusions.
Microsoft Dynamics 365 will be rolled out in the first few months of 2025, and you will be involved in its roll-out and implementation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Database Maintenance and Development
• Database development, administration and maintenance, using Microsoft Dynamics 365.
• Support improving and developing data quality processes, carry out regular audits to identify and correct gaps and issues.
• Provide 1st level assistance and hands-on support to users and departments on how to access and use the system e.g. creating guidance documents/videos.
Database Analytics, Reporting and Impact

• Use the existing legacy database systems to perform financial analysis and produce reports to support other departments with their data needs.
