The charity is 9 years old, and initially started its work in Blackpool, the community facing the highest multiple deprivation in the country, before starting to scale. After slow and steady growth in our early years, a combination of our reputation, growing evidence, and the increased demand for place based change has seen our rate of growth rising in recent years. We are taking a “quality first” approach to scaling our delivery work, as we cannot let down any of our communities through scaling beyond our capability.
In order to support the increasing level of demand for our work, over the next five years, the fundraising team will embark on an ambitious growth strategy – as we look to grow our income £8 million this year to £20 million by 2029, increasing the breadth, depth and number of communities that we serve.
The successful candidate will play an integral role in designing, developing and leading the delivery of our fundraising strategy to ensure that children and young people have the best start in life. They will be responsible for a broad range of income streams with a particular focus on growth across high net worth individuals, individual giving, corporate and digital whilst continuing to effectively maintain and build upon our strong funder base in trusts, foundations, philanthropy and statutory support. They will also directly oversee the wider fundraising team which currently includes the fundraising manager and fundraising officer roles.
Key Responsibilities

Overseeing the successful design, development and implementation of Right to Succeed’s 5 year fundraising strategy.

Leading, inspiring, developing and managing the charity’s fundraising team, taking overall responsibility for achieving fundraising targets for the organisation.

Ensuring a collaborative and integrated approach to fundraising across the organisation through working collaboratively with the finance and programmes team to ensure maximum efficiency across our prospecting, budgeting, monitoring, tracking and reporting processes

Ensuring that fundraising activities comply with legal and regulatory standards, including donor privacy, tax regulations, and the Fundraising Regulator’s code of practice

Fundraising
-
Overseeing a diverse portfolio of income streams, with a clear strategy and plan for growth and sustainability

Support the Senior Executive team in cultivating new relationships and stewardship of HNWI whilst continuing to build upon our existing funder base, ensuring that all supporters receive a first-class experience.

Proactively planning for meetings with funders, prospects and networking events to develop new opportunities.

Working collaboratively with the comms and and programmes teams to increase awareness of RtS and our programmes, developing professional and engaging fundraising materials including fundraising applications, proposals, appeals, pitches and reports.

Identifying new fundraising trends and developments and make recommendations to the Senior Executive team around resource prioritization.

Ensuring the fundraising database and pipeline is fully kept up to date, implementing and embedding a clear framework for decision making regarding fundraising opportunities across the organisation.

Working collectively with the Chief Programmes Officer and Programme Directors to identify, develop and grow local funding opportunities within their respective communities
Budgeting, reporting and compliance

Managing the team budget, providing regular reports as required to the Senior Executive, Finance, Development Committee and Board of Trustees.

Setting, delivering and monitoring the fundraising business plan, ensuring all objectives and KPIs are met and risks are managed as appropriate.

Travel
This role will require travel to Right to Succeed’s offices in Liverpool and Manchester as well as to funder meetings across the UK. It is essential that the post-holder has access to a car or excellent transport systems.

Role Summary:
As the Corporate Partnerships Lead, you will be responsible for developing and managing a successful corporate fundraising strategy that maximises income from existing and new partnerships. Strategy and Planning
- Work closely with the Corporate, Community, and Events Fundraising Manager to develop and implement a sustainable Corporate Partnerships Strategy.
- Create short, medium, and long-term activity plans, budgets, and forecasts for corporate fundraising.
- Regularly review and refine the corporate partnership proposition to align with the charity’s mission and market trends.
Corporate Fundraising & Relationship Development
- Lead the development of new business engagement plans, identifying and cultivating new corporate prospects and relationships.
- Implement ambitious new business campaigns targeting priority industries, overseeing prospecting and marketing efforts.
- Manage the new business pipeline, ensuring effective prospect data management in the CRM system.

To support the delivery of quantitative or technical components of projects within the Research and Analysis (R&A) team and to contribute knowledge, data analysis and research skills to a range of CSE projects across all teams.
Pay and conditions
- The role is full-time 37.5 hours per week.

Specific responsibilities
An applicant appointed to the role will be expected to:

Established in 2019, Declassified UK is a small, growing media organisation that has quickly become known for ground-breaking, critical journalism challenging the British establishment on UK foreign policy issues.
The UK’s traditional media is increasingly acting as part of the establishment, failing to report independently on Britain’s policies around the world. We are seeking to appoint a new Director to succeed our co-founder Mark Curtis who will consolidate our reputation and take the organisation to its next level.
We will continue producing high quality written and visual journalism and seek to increase our political impact and reach bigger audiences, within the budgetary and capacity constraints that we have.

● after a transition, to be agreed in discussions, the Director may assume direct responsibility for managing existing trusts & foundations and large personal funders, producing grant and budget reports and proposals, and seeking out new funders. This is presently done by other staff.
Communications
● work with relevant staff to maximise Declassified’s profile, for example by ensuring the optimisation of our website, newsletters and communications with supporters and non-supporters.
● work with relevant staff to produce our annual reports.
● field email queries from the public and external organisations.
Board and Advisers
● work with the Board to ensure Declassified’s governance structure best promotes its mission and principles.
● communicate clearly to the Board, delivering regular financial and strategy updates as per regular arranged meetings.
● maximise the contributions of Declassified’s Advisers to promote the organisation's mission.
Representation
● represent Declassified in external meetings and events, acting as an ambassador for the organisation’s mission and principles.

REPORTING LINES

WORKING CONDITIONS
● All Declassified staff work from their home offices, with the opportunity of using a communal office in London subject to availability.
● We operate a four day working week, from Monday-Thursday.

About the Investment Team
The Investment Team is responsible for selecting charity partners, managing our charity investments and supporting our charity partners to improve and scale their impact.

This role works closely with other Investment Directors and Investment Managers to deliver external facing support to portfolio partners as well as internal projects to support the development of the investment model and portfolio strategy.
Investment Directors use strategic thinking, analytical rigour, and senior relationship skills to support a portfolio of amazing organisations that, together, will help shift the life chances and outcomes of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in the UK.
Key responsibilities
Finding high potential charities and non-profit partners for our portfolio
- Identifying potential charitable organisations for investment.
- Leading in-depth due diligence process to assess and build partnership foundations with potential partners – covering leadership and governance, and their impact, scale, and partnership potential.
- Modelling from first contact of origination, our approach to engaged and trust-based investment management support.
- Developing and championing high quality investment propositions to our Investment Committee.
Managing partnerships with portfolio partners
- Managing relationships with partner Chairs and CEOs
- Agreeing Service Funding Agreements, including appropriate annual investment milestones to allow for a clear assessment of re-investment potential at end of phase
- Regularly monitoring and assessing partner progress / risks against milestones and making recommendations for progression or exit
- Escalating key risks on performance, leadership and safeguarding
- Conducting annual partnership review with Sector Leads and partner CEOs
- Working with Impetus Finance colleagues to ensure timely distribution of grant payments, in line with Service Funding Agreements.
Supporting portfolio partners
- Providing direct support to CEOs and senior colleagues on key strategic topics, using a mix of at least monthly one-to-one meetings and group facilitation to:
- clarify theory of change
- define long term ambition
- develop growth strategy
- achieve a step change in the delivery and performance management of outcomes
- strengthen leadership (individual and collective) and governance capabilities
- develop path to scale
- build financial resilience
- Scoping and project managing pro bono capacity-building projects (in addition to providing direct management support). Ensure projects are delivered to a high standard and contribute to charity progression
- Identifying engagement opportunities for our donors and supporters with charity partners that are aligned with the charity’s activities and do not distract or undermine their core work
- Collaborating with Impetus philanthropy team to develop new funding streams (additional to direct Impetus grant funding) that support our partners’ ability to deliver impact at scale
- Effectively leveraging the support of investment managers to advance the objectives developed for each charity partner that is managed by an Investment Director

Support to Impetus
- Developing expertise about “what works” in the sector through cultivation and use of expert input and engagement as well as investigation into key research and evaluative literature
- Working closely with team colleagues to use learnings from our work and domain expertise to inform our strategy, our model and delivery over time
- Leading on and contributing to internal topics, such as team strategy development, digital transformation, or equity, diversity, and inclusion
- Contribute towards Impetus’ public affairs and philanthropy objectives through input into case studies, research and policy campaigns, donor reports and fundraising events
- Sharing the learning from our work across the team, across the organisation and externally working within Impetus strategy, policies and procedures
- Engaging in Impetus pro bono, communications, and advocacy events, and engage charity partners appropriately in these events
- Where appropriate, line-managing and supporting Investment Managers on the team to grow and develop, and achieve their project, role and team objectives.

Desirable
- Experience in the non-profit (charity or social enterprise) sector, through work, as a pro-bono volunteer or Trustee capacity
- Experience in consulting, investment management, senior charity management, or other in-depth grant making and advisory work
- Knowledge and expertise in UK education or youth employability sectors
- Board experience in private, public or third sector
- Understanding of or experience with commissioning impact evaluations.

Responsible to: Head of Community Programmes & Partnerships
Number of hours per week: Full Time – 37.5 hrs per week

Purpose of the job:
Collaborate with the senior management and project management teams to develop high quality, innovative funding proposals and grant applications, that are well-written, persuasive and compelling to funders to secure grant funding.
