About us

Who we are

We are a UK-based organisation with a global aim: To enable every person who has escaped North Korea, to heal, grow, and live the life they choose.

Our holistic support programmes enable escaped North Korean people to overcome the many barriers that prevent them from building new lives after their escape from the oppressive North Korean regime.

Our culture and values

Our Values

  • Respectful
We respect the beliefs, experiences, and rights of others and we are committed to incorporating this into the work we do. Practically, this means that our programmes are designed to be culturally sensitive and have genuine, compassionate understanding at their core.

  • Responsive
We work in an agile and collaborative way to solve urgent problems within the North Korean community and deliver innovative, impactful, and cutting-edge programmes. Our work is data- and research-driven and is responsive to the needs of escapees and evolves in real time to deliver the best possible outcomes.

  • Inclusive
We believe that North Korean people themselves are best placed to identify their own challenges. Their lived experience directly inputs into our programme design and means that our projects are sustainable, thanks to community buy-in at every stage.

  • Global
We recognize that we all share a common humanity and this is reflected in our global outlook. There are over 35,000 North Korean escapees living in different countries around the world. Our bold and ambitious international projects aim to create a thriving community of role-models within this diaspora. To that end, we are both locally and globally focused.
