The My Name’5 Doddie Foundation has a single, clear vision: a world free of Motor Neuron Disease (MND). The Director of Research is a key position in the organisation that leads our research activities, managing a small team as we invest in a prioritised and focused research portfolio. Working alongside the CEO and senior leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing a research strategy that fits seamlessly with the Foundation’s vision, ensuring we have the expertise and resources required to support our programme and initiatives.

As someone with experience working in a scientific research role, you will have the ability to interpret, analyse and utilise research findings and developments, with a deep understanding of the drug discovery and development landscape. You will be someone who constantly seeks out new research approaches, methodologies and funding models, ensuring that the Foundation remains at the forefront with its innovative practices. Knowledge of the research grants system is essential; we’re looking for someone who can hit the ground running. You will care about the impact of our work, developing an excellent understanding of the MND field and placing those living with MND at the heart of every decision you make, while ensuring all funded projects continue to meet our goals and financial requirements.

Strong communication skills are central to this role. The successful candidate will be comfortable demonstrating our expertise and position in the MND community and communicating developments, insights and critical milestones both internally and externally. Influencing and relationship building will come naturally to you, and you’ll be the kind of person who can work with diverse personalities from a wide variety of professional backgrounds. This is a critical senior role in the organisation, reporting to the CEO. The role is responsible for managing the organisation’s programmes across 3 locations in Sub Saharan Africa and South East Asia, managing 10 personnel. The position provides leadership on community-led investigations and evidence gathering and works closely with the Senior Management Team (SMT) on critical areas including fundraising and strategic development.   

The priority for this role is the safe and high quality performance of projects. The balance between ‘doing’ and ‘managing’ in this role varies depending on available resources for each project, and the ability to create competent teams to delegate to.
 

Location: UK, France or Thailand preferred. Remote applicants considered.

Package: Pay is dependent on location.  The UK salary of £62,000 plus pension contribution will be converted using ICSC scales. All locations receive 28 days annual leave, counselling support and annual wellbeing days.
 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• The development and implementation of strategy and annual plans for the organisation’s direct programming, and its alignment with organisational strategy.
• Responsible for the relevant team’s human resources, staff welfare, safety and security, and risk management. 
• The safety and quality of operational practices including data collection on the ground, secure data storage and transfer and proper financial management of the project including procurement practices.
• Responsible for the relevant team’s financial and spending strategy and financial management.
• Ensuring all aspects of the role’s work advances diversity, equality and inclusion.
• Actively contributing networking, ideas and concept note drafting to the Fundraising Team, with a particular focus on building the project funding and teams that will enable this role to grow and evolve.
• Be a member of the Strategic Planning Team and other strategic conversations with SMT and the Management Team, bringing ideas and challenge to move the organisation forward.
• Coordinate closely with the Senior Director – Innovation where areas of work and organisational improvement projects overlap.

Programmes

• Design and oversee the relevant operations and project workplans, ensuring projects are delivered safely and to a high degree of quality.
• Oversight of project’s design, objectives and goals and their budget.
• Cultivate a management culture that is performance-based, supportive and collegial.
• Provide ongoing support and mentoring to direct reports, including through the annual performance review process. 
• Work with project teams to jointly identify and make available learning and development opportunities for them and their teams. 
• Administrative oversight for projects and their staff, including the review of expenses, annual leave, salary/benefits etc.
• Represent the organisation in relevant areas in relation to programmatic partners such as media, lawyers, diplomats, NGOs and civil society as well as to donors and governments.
• Assist in developing our methodology for investigation and monitoring within projects, including working closely with the Senior Director – Strategy to ensure alignment with the Impact Strategy.

Essential

The Circle raised over £500,000 in 23/24 with ambitions to grow this to £700,000 in 2024/25 and £1m over the medium term. Existing funders include a mix of trusts and foundations, HNWIs and corporate partners (including L’Oréal Foundation and Universal Music). This role will help to reach these targets through implementing the fundraising strategy and plans currently in place. 

About the role: 

The Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships will deliver on income and our fundraising strategy, while playing a key role in the senior leadership team (SLT). 

Your focus will be driving income and donor engagement via major donors, corporates and special events and initiatives.

Key responsibilities include: 

• Act as a key member of SLT, reporting to the CEO and working closely with associated peers to deliver and achieve the organisational strategy 

• Lead The Circle’s major gift fundraising, with a focus on HNWI, philanthropy advisors, corporate partnerships and trusts & foundations 

• Build a sustainable pipeline of income 

• Drive new business activity – identifying opportunities for partnership/support from a variety of high value sources 

• Develop new cases for support, building on existing propositions such as A Living Wage for Garment Workers and Ending Violence Against Women and Girls report. 

• Identify opportunities for special events/initiatives which could also act as cultivation events for new supporters or one-off large scale fundraisers with high ROI. 

About you: 

• An experienced and results driven fundraiser with a major donor and corporate fundraising background

• Demonstrable expertise in securing five-figure donations from HNWIs/corporate partners/T&F (six-figure experience desirable) and understanding of appeals and events. 

• A strategic, creative doer who strikes the balance between leadership, tactics and being hands-on as required 

• Self-motivated with demonstrable ability to take the initiative and drive activity – The Circle is a small organisation, and the team work remotely

This role has been benchmarked at a UK salary of GBP 75,000 (pro rata for a part time position). • Experienced senior fundraising leader, with a breadth of skills and expertise developing and implementing successful multi-stream fundraising strategies.
• Focused on supporter journeys and ensuring exceptional stewardship to drive engagement and income across all donor audiences.
• Strong stakeholder management expertise (internal and external) with an ability to build robust relationships and gain support/commitment.
• Evident organisational development skills with the ability to act as an effective member of SLT and contribute to organisational strategy/plans. 
• Comfortable acting in the capacity of a charity ambassador, establishing new relationships as a consequence and identifying new funding opportunities.

Our EU-standard shelters, inspired by British designs, can house up to 700 stray dogs, providing them with complete veterinary care and preparation for rehoming.
We have supported over 48,000 animals and built two dog shelters and one for disabled and senior cats. Additionally, we offer small grants to six other charities in Romania and over 40 shelters in Ukraine. We primarily rehome animals in Switzerland, Sweden, and the UK. By addressing the root causes of animal homelessness through neutering programmes and educational initiatives, we have significantly reduced overpopulation, helping over 40,000 cats and dogs in Romania and Ukraine.

We are seeking a hands-on, seasoned, and globally-minded leader to serve as the foundation’s Director of Operations (DO) as the institution continues to evolve and develop other vehicles fit for its mission and activities.

Role

As Director of Operations, you will be a key member of the foundation’s leadership team jointly responsible for strategic planning and overall management of the institution to ensure organisational health and the fulfilment of the foundation’s mission. You will report to the Executive Director (ED).

Director of Operations Responsibilities

 — The responsibilities of the Director of Operations will include, but are not limited to:

 Finance

• Maintain best practice of internal and external controls and reporting according to accounting, audit and tax standards for international non-profits and foundations including segregation of duties, security and integrity of data and records, and approval protocols.
• Manage cashflow and liquidity requirements in coordination with the family office.
• With the ED, orchestrate an annual organisation-wide planning and budgeting process.
• Ensure effective expense control, tracking, reporting and forecasting.
• Oversee and upgrade as necessary accounting functions, policies, procedures, and systems (accounting, accounts payable, payroll, fixed assets, expense reporting)

 Legal and Regulatory

• Coordinate with Grants Managers, the family office, and other professionals as appropriate, in regard to compliance, disbursements, and reporting of grants according to the standards of relevant jurisdiction(s).
• Ensure that all organisational policies, procedures and practice are compliant with applicable labour, employment, tax, immigration, and business registration laws and regulations in applicable countries or jurisdictions.
• Maintain and acquire as appropriate registrations, permits, and documentation in countries as required by foundation activities and/or employee or contractor location.
• Oversee all contracts and their compliance with appropriate regulations and laws. 

People and Culture

• Ensure clarity, equity, and harmonisation of policies (HR, travel and expense), compensation and benefits for staff (employees and consultants) across geographies and tax and legal jurisdictions.
• Oversee policy and practice for personnel including recruitments, hires, orientation and on-boarding, terminations, probation, performance evaluations, human relations and conflict management.
• Foster an institutional culture of transparency, accountability, and collaboration while ensuring organisational effectiveness.

Grants Management Oversight

• With the ED and Programme team, oversee the full cycle of grant making including budgeting, projections, programmatic and compliance reviews, payments, grantee reporting and evaluation of outcomes.
• Support Grants Management System (GMS) Systems Administrators as needed, in identifying, prioritizing, and specifying new features and functionality for the GMS system.

 Information Technology

• Strategically manage information systems and IT platforms to support this almost 100% virtual, globally spread out, and highly mobile organisation.
• Ensure core systems are robust, available, and accessible to staff in all locations as appropriate.

Risk Management

• Ensure appropriate and adequate insurance policy acquisition and management needed across the institution and oversee ongoing policy management for adequacy of coverage, renewals, and financial considerations (includes liability, worker’s compensation, travel etc. across geographic areas).
• Oversee health and safety policy and procedures across staff locations and during travel.
• Coordinate business continuity policies and procedures.

Staff Management and Mentorship

• The Director of Operations currently has oversight responsibilities for the following functions:
  • Finance & Operations Manager
  • Grants Manager team
  • GMS System Administrators
  • Human Relations Manager and International Accountant
• Manage relationships with outsourced tax, payroll processing, and legal resources in various jurisdictions.

Qualifications

 Essential

• Bachelor’s degree and preferably relevant graduate degree (MBA, MPA or equivalent) or comparable experience.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Welsh Programme Coordinator to implement the fundraising strategy for an important charity.
 

Position: Welsh Programme Coordinator

Location: Remote working with some travel required for in-person meetings and events when appropriate.

About the role:

The purpose of this role is to support the implementation of the organisation’s strategy in Wales, to demystify Welsh democracy and to support women to find their role within it. The key elements of the role are:

• Act as a point of contact for our growing community of women across Wales.
• Coordinate the development of the organisation’s Welsh learning hub; a suite of fully accessible, women-centred political literacy resources.
• Coordinate the annual programme of activity for women in Wales.
• Support the development of the learning hub.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Work with the communications team to grow the community of women working with the organisation across Wales
• Grow a network of 30 grassroots organisations working with women across Wales; to grow a foundational community of 200 women actively engaged in Wales’s democracy.
• Facilitate a network of Welsh women in elected office
• Work with senior leadership to nurture relationships with governments and democratic institutions across Wales to connect individual initiatives working to encourage more women to participate in democracy.
• Develop and maintain partnerships with key organisations working in intersectional feminism and political literacy across Wales.
• Work with social researchers to capture the experiences of women in Wales engaged in the Welsh democratic and political processes

About the role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Programme Associate to provide programmatic support to a portfolio of Internews’ projects in the Europe & Eurasia (E&E) region. The role will be part of the Internews’ headquarters E&E Project Management

Unit (PMU) and report to the London-based Senior Programme Officer. The role will support the project teams in the E&E region as they conduct their project activities and help ensure.

Effective programme implementation, particularly related to project reporting, work planning, and monitoring, evaluation, research and learning (MERL). The role will contribute to development opportunities that support E&E media and journalists to safely provide good quality information. The role may also be asked to represent Internews at partner and donor meetings. The role will also contribute to Internews’ knowledge management and improvement of Internews systems.

Key responsibilities:

• Support the project teams across all programmatic and operational aspects of European-funded grant programmes to implement high-quality projects on time and budget, and to the highest technical standards, and in a way that positions projects within a broader regional or thematic portfolio and contributes to organisational impact.
• Assist PMU management with project oversight and progress towards programme deliverables.
• Support project start-up, implementation, and closeout.
• Support with hiring key project personnel.
• Serve as an HQ point of contact for programmatic inquiries for assigned projects within the organisation and externally.
• Guide the project teams on rules and requirements of European donors and Internews’ internal policies and procedures.
