This role is a core part of Pecan’s senior leadership team (SLT), working to develop strategic direction and playing a play a key role in the organisation’s aim to transform the lives of the most disadvantaged people in our community.

You will enable Pecan’s frontline team to deliver the highest possible standards of service. You will have responsibility for developing a strategy and vision for all community food activities and developments within Pecan. You will focus on ensuring the programmes have dignity at their heart and work towards seeing an end to foodbanks. You will work with the projects to support them to collaborate and work together. You will play a key role in the organisations aim of transforming the lives of the most disadvantaged people in our community.

Main Responsibilities:

• Line manage and appraise staff in line with Pecan’s procedures: Foodbank Manager, Pantry Manager, Operations Manager, and the Development Manager Community Food Programmes.
• Demonstrates strong financial literacy and business acumen.
• Develop and oversee food strategy for Pecan’s food services, implementing the vision to end the need for food banks, re‑imagining the food services offer and including a cash-first approach.
• Develop and manage partnerships with authorities, corporates, churches, community groups and networks to support the successful development of programmes.

‘I AM Brent’ consortium

Step Up Hub leads a consortium, known as I AM Brent, that consists of six well-respected local charities who are working together to address the root causes and effects of violence affecting young people in the London Borough of Brent.

Programme Description

The programme is part of the Mayor of London’s flagship violence reduction programme, known as MyEnds. It is a place-based violence reduction initiative that adopts a public health approach. The consortium is providing an array of positive opportunities for young people and support for families, including through tailored interventions. The programme also aims to improve statutory and voluntary organisation networks and access to referral, and to ensure the voices of young people and community members are built into provision. The work is focused on the Church Road Estate, Stonebridge Estate, St Raphael’s Estate, Chalkhill Estate and Harlesden Town Centre areas.

The Role of the Community Engagement Lead

The Community Engagement Lead will be a key member of the team delivering the I AM Brent MyEnds programme. They will develop and maintain strong relationships with the breadth of young and older community members, and local businesses to conduct community engagement. They will subscribe to the values of co-production and work positively in accordance with I AM Brent’s Equal Opportunities, Safeguarding, Data Protection and Health and Safety policies.

In addition, the Community Engagement Lead will:

· act as the primary contact for requests from the community for information about I AM Brent’s services and events,

· disseminate to the community information about I AM Brent’s services, community fund, and events,

· organise, and support the delivery of, community engagement events, youth forums and community forums,

· encourage community participation,

· provide status reports regarding upcoming community outreach, engagement, events, and initiatives to consortium                members and community members, and provide end of community activity reports to the Programme Manager,

· summarise views of community members about their needs and ideas to improve safety,

· signpost community members to support following outreach activities,

· process referrals to the I AM Brent programme,

· support the organisation and administration of talks at community centres, places of worship, and community events,            on supporting young people’s safety,

Background to School Food Matters

School Food Matters (SFM) exists to teach children about food and to improve children’s access to healthy, sustainable food during their time at school. We provide fully funded food education programmes to schools. Our experience delivering these programmes informs and strengthens our campaigns, bringing the voices of children, parents and teachers to government policy.

Job Purpose

· To manage an exciting, new programme in Southwark implementing a whole school approach (WSA) to food

· To promote, develop and deliver the programme across nurseries, primaries, secondaries and SEN schools in Southwark

· To ensure that the programme is delivered on time and on budget

Key Tasks include:

• Onboard and line-manage a Project Officer and volunteers to support delivery, providing training as required
• Conduct desk research to group schools and nurseries using a RAG rating, based on level of support required to achieve a WSA to food
• Create a detailed project plan for delivery
• Support with the development of resources and training packages for schools
• Work with an early years’ consultant to tailor resources and training to nursery settings

· Recruit schools to take part in the programme

· Build relationships with teachers, teaching assistants, cooks and senior leaders in schools to improve the food they offer their students

· Support schools to complete school food action plans and polices

· Deliver role-specific training to key staff in schools (training provided if necessary)

You’ll be responsible for arranging and confirming bookings for Theatre in Education play performances within schools, coordinating DSMF events and working with the existing Bookings Administrator to support our ever-growing delivery of drug education workshops withing schools. A key aspect of your work will be developing effective professional relationships with the theatre companies commissioned to deliver the performances, and with the schools we work with.

Job Title: Technical Security Manager

Base: Hybrid, home and minimum two days per week in London office

Key Responsibilities 

• Building and maintaining excellent relationships with team leads across the organisation to raise awareness of security and work through issues
• Deputising for the Director in security matters as required
• Operation of the ISMS and Data Protection processes
• Managing risk register, preparing for management review meetings
• Developing/maintaining controls and ensuring they are implemented across the organisation

Person Specification

Essential

• Experience of risk management
• Working knowledge of security standards and frameworks, particularly ISO 27001
• Knowledge (and preferably experience) of GDPR and DPA 2018
• Experience of incident management
• Excellent knowledge of high level security concepts and best practice
• Excellent documentation skills, including policies and standards
• Knowledge of the following areas (deeper experience of one or more preferred):

Event Manager

Salary: £45,000

Contract: Full time (35 hours a week), 14 months fixed term contract

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Event Manager to help coordinate, plan and deliver Peace Direct’s 2025 global peacebuilding gathering to be held in Kenya. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully managing large-scale events from inception to completion. This role requires excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills to ensure the seamless execution of events.

This brand new role is a 14 month contract specifically developed to deliver and roll out the event. Along with two Event Assistants under your direction, you will be responsible for managing and implementing the programme, including handling travel arrangements (100+ bookings), including flights, hotels, and transportation. You will have a solid background evidencing strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to build a smooth rapport with internal and external stakeholders critical to the success of the event. Stakeholders will include local suppliers, peacebuilders, funders and direct engagement with the venue and service providers and key donors.

We are looking for someone with a keen eye for detail to ensure a high professional standard is maintained - even under work pressures - and with budget management experience of large projects (exceeding $250k), ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to financial and time constraints.
