Main duties
Form a close working relationship with the Marketing and Finance teams
Lead the development and delivery of the Outreach Services strategic plan
Take overall control of the delivery, development and quality standards of the Outreach Services – BeyondAutism Fast Responder®, Outreach and Training Meet sales targets

Reporting and monitoring
Weekly reporting of enquiries and conversion to service delivery

Position Overview
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a key member of our leadership team responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the organisation. The COO will work closely with the CEO and SMT to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the charity by playing a pivotal role in overseeing various aspects of our operations, including compliance, safeguarding, operations and team management, finance, human resources, IT, and administrative functions.

- Prepare and present regular reports to the Board of Trustees and stakeholders on organisational performance.

Qualifications & Experience
· Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Master's degree preferred).
· 5+ years proven experience in senior operational roles within the non-profit sector
· Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams
· Exceptional organisational and project management abilities.
· Demonstrable experience in budgeting, financial management, and people leadership
· Excellent line management skills with the ability to work across a multi-disciplinary team of virtual working staff.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
· Commitment to the charity's mission and values.
· Knowledge of mental health and wellbeing with experience working with individuals in mental health preferable

Position
This role is part of a small team that forms the secretariat for two vibrant, dynamic networks of mission-driven asset owners: the Charities Responsible Investment Network (CRIN) and the Responsible Investment Network – Universities (RINU). We support members to align their investments with their social and environmental missions and values through a tailored programme of networking, advocacy and educational activities. The networks are unique spaces, enabling members to collaborate, share best practice and be leaders at the cutting edge of thinking around what it means to be a responsible investor.
You will make a significant contribution to our team by supporting the design and delivery of our annual workplan for CRIN and RINU and engaging members to participate in network activities. You will be key to ensuring the smooth running of the secretariat, including monitoring and evaluation to ensure that our work is as impactful as possible.
The secretariat sits in ShareAction’s Investor Engagement team, which engages with a range of actors to develop and drive up standards of responsible investment. You will work closely with the Senior Engagement Manager (Asset Owner Networks), who manages the work of the networks, and with the Senior Research Manager (Investors), who supports members to leverage research and analysis, and engage with their financial service providers, such as asset managers and consultants.
In this fast-paced role, on a day-to-day basis, you might be:
- Designing new projects (such as an educational workshop or advocacy initiative) for our annual workplan of activities.
- Responding to enquiries from and holding meetings with members or prospective members (foundations, trusts, operational charities, universities and colleges).
- Organising quarterly member meetings, as well as other workshops on topics such as participatory decision-making in investment, artificial intelligence and responsible investment, or divestment and the arms trade (scheduling, agenda drafting, note taking, facilitating discussions and coordinating follow-up actions).
- Writing case studies or articles to showcase the cutting-edge work of members.
- Conducting small research tasks and drafting discussion papers to inform members of responsible investment approaches and best practice.
- Sending emails to members informing them of relevant events, news and research.
- Designing and sending surveys to collect data on members and their impacts.
- Updating records, including information on members and their investments, their participation in network activities, and their payment of invoices.

We’re looking for someone with excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills. This is a new role at the DEC and developed as a key part of the DEC’s 2024-2029 strategy. The DEC has a wide range of established relationships with trusts and foundations, many of which give 6- and 7-figure sums to DEC appeals. The Trusts & Foundations Manager will be responsible for providing excellent stewardship to our portfolio of trusts and foundations. In addition, the role will also be responsible for cultivating new relationships for the DEC through thorough research, and through the prospect development cycle, to raise money for DEC appeals. In addition to appeal fundraising, the Trusts & Foundations Manager will be responsible for delivering on a new core cost fundraising strategy, in close partnership with the Head of Philanthropy & Partnerships.
Demonstrable, transferable trusts and foundations experience and knowledge, (preferably within the humanitarian & charity sector), will hold you in good stead for this exciting new role.
Key responsibilities include:
Strategic Development: Develop and manage the trusts and foundations portfolio and create compelling proposals for future appeals and core costs income. Showcase new ideas and innovative approaches for growing and developing a pipeline of new prospects. Develop engaging stewardship plans.
Administrative Compliance: Lead and manage, robust and professional grant management, ensuring systems and processes are fit for purpose, streamlined and accessible. Remain compliant with grant terms and conditions, ensuring you are clearly communicating the unique contours of the DEC model whilst providing comprehensive and inspiring impact reporting.
Relationship Management: Maintain regular contact and collaboration with internal teams to collate a high-quality suite of communication materials and stewardship plans specific to a trust and foundation audience. Proactively reach out and build long-lasting relationships with funders to reach ambitious fundraising targets.
Monitoring and Evaluation: Monitor, measure and evaluate progress against the DEC’s strategic goals and funds raised from trusts and foundations. Prepare regular reports for senior management and trustees on the development, progress and future strategic actions for trusts and foundations at the DEC.
