Job description

Our client is an impactful charity based in Tower Hamlets, providing rapid crisis intervention, welfare rights advice and advocacy to people facing crisis in their lives.  At a time of growth for the organisation, they are now looking to recruit an experienced Generalist Caseworker to work as part of their dedicated Advice team, providing specialist advice on a range of issues, including housing, benefits, debt, employment and social services.

Reporting to the Advice Services Manager, as Generalist Caseworker you will conduct thorough assessments, empowering vulnerable clients by offering information, guidance and resources to enhance their understanding of their rights and options. You will provide assistance with benefit forms, applications and challenges, as well as support benefit casework by preparing appeals, and providing tribunal representation to clients. You will stay updated on relevant legislation, policies and best practice, and will deliver advice both face to face via the organisation's East London location, and also on an outreach basis.  You will work collaboratively both internally and externally to secure best outcomes for clients and will work closely with your wider team members to identify any challenges or areas of improvement.

To apply for this role, you will have significant experience of working in an advisory capacity with a range of vulnerable service users.  You will have demonstrable experience of delivering quality welfare benefits advice and/or carrying out casework and will have extensive experience of working in partnership with a range of agencies to achieve best outcomes for service users. You will also have previous experience of providing tribunal representation. Overall, you will be a dedicated advice professional, committed to providing high quality services for a range of vulnerable people.
