About the Role
Charity People is pleased to be working with the UK's national academy of sciences to recruit a Development Operations Officer to join their Development team during a busy period.

This role plays an essential part in ensuring smooth gift processing, accurate record keeping, and effective administrative support for the team. It will suit someone who is methodical, confident with data systems, and committed to maintaining excellent supporter care standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Process, check, and log incoming donations; manage giving platforms such as CAF and PayPal
• Maintain accurate records of philanthropic income and produce quarterly reports
• Work with Finance to reconcile income records and process Gift Aid claims
• Prepare and send donor acknowledgements and communications
• Support with data entry, reporting, and maintenance of the CRM system (Microsoft Dynamics)
• Provide administrative assistance to the Head of Development and broader Development team
• Schedule meetings, coordinate team activities, support event planning, and manage travel logistics
• Maintain up-to-date filing systems and order office supplies as needed

Essential Experience & Skills

• Experience with gift processing, donor stewardship, or financial administration in a fundraising or nonprofit setting
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Experience using CRM systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics, Raiser's Edge, ThankQ)
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication skills and ability to maintain confidentiality
• Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively
• Understanding of data protection and fundraising compliance (desirable)
• Familiarity with Gift Aid and tax-efficient giving (desirable)

The Role

The key purpose of this role is to work as a “right hand” to the Associate Vicar, as an Executive Assistant and lead of key projects. Listed below are the key elements that the role holder will be doing:

Email, Diary Management & General Administration

• Drafting high volume of emails, correspondence, enquiries, managing the email inbox and ensuring that replies and responses are timely and appropriate
• Oversee diary of AV and manage key dates and appointments in church cycle, book and set-up appointments, coordinate meetings, set-up Zoom links, include briefing notes for AV and coordinate all relevant information for meetings
• Handle administrative duties on behalf of the AV including supporting with rotas for clergy, key comms (internal and external), congregational comms, review information as first point of contact and assist AV with supporting duties
• Assist the AV with processing of expenses and approve expenses with AV’s authorisation and oversee the reconciliation of the AV’s credit card on a monthly basis
• Research and support as needed related to preaching assignments and other projects related to other ministry areas
• Assist AV with key comms with donors, key stakeholders including PCC, church wardens and HTB Group Entity Heads
• Represent AV at a senior level with internal and external parties and assisting with sensitive pastoral matters
• Assist the AV with travel arrangements, booking train tickets and flights, arranging hotel accommodation, organizing schedules, managing insurance requirements and adhering to all HTB Group policies relating to travel and assisting AV with expense

Sunday Services

• Support AV in the running and oversight of 10 services across 6 sites at HTB and specifically with the 9.30am and 11.30am services at HTB Brompton Road
• Organise information and map out strategy and plan for special services, key points in the church calendar (Christmas, Easter, Vision series, Leadership Conference, Focus)
• Liaising with external speakers, processing honorariums, handling comms and coordination logistics for all outside speaker invitations and serving as the point of contact for guests – including sourcing books and resources, organising transportation, liaising with speaker team and coordinating with Director of Comms on any major requests

Budget, Strategy & Governance

• Assist AV with budget and strategy and annual salary review process for all HTB staff and also help with HR and recruitment issues where necessary
• Assist AV with strategy documents for HTB and the annual strategy process to ensure all HTB ministry departments aligned with overall goals and objectives for HTB set by the vicar
• Ensure accountability and clear communications with HTB Department Heads for all ministry areas and drafting of internal comms for internal HTB staff team

PCC & wider Church of England

• Assist with drafting PCC reports and documents for HTB where needed working closely with the Group COO’s office
• Support AV with communications with Chelsea Area Deanery, Kensington Area Council and all wider Church of England matters and requests (Diocese of London, Archdeacons, Legal Agreements, etc)
• Help HTB to ensure it is compliant with all C of E requirements and maintains good working relationships with the Diocese of London
• Support AV to ensure that all safeguarding matters/requirements fulfilled and clear communication with Safeguarding Officer
• Assist AV with managing matters relating to HTB’s accessibility matters (i.e. disability and special needs), sustainability policy and approaches, recruitment and staff policies, etc.

Project Management

• Support AV with any special projects or assignments as needed – i.e. School of Preaching Course, special Alpha projects, Electoral Roll, crisis management, projects for the PCC, key events, donor comms, fundraising and stewardship, racial diversity working group matters, research assignments, etc.

The Right Candidate

• This role requires strong skills in administration, attention to detail, writing and drafting and excellent organisational skills.
• Experience supporting a senior leader or C-Level executive in a supporting capacity in a fast-paced and fast-moving organisation.

The Roles

The Role
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, you will lead and manage the Finance and Corporate Services functions, ensuring strong financial governance, compliance, and strategic planning. You'll work closely with internal and external stakeholders including the Board, Executive Team, regulators, auditors, and funders.

You will also act as the organisational lead for financial strategy, treasury management, HR, IT infrastructure, and internal and external communications-ensuring that EastEnd Homes is well-resourced and delivering outstanding services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Providing leadership across Finance, IT, HR, and Communications, implementing procedures, policies and strategies
• Manage, support, and develop staff across the Finance and Corporate Services teams, including performance reviews, training needs, and continuous improvement
• Ensure all statutory returns and performance reports are accurate and submitted on time
• Embed a culture of data-driven decision-making and continuous service improvement
• Ensure full compliance with the Housing Regulator's and FCA's financial frameworks, including the timely submission of returns
• Lead the preparation of annual statutory accounts and liaise effectively with external auditors
• Oversee day-to-day financial operations, ensuring robust systems and internal controls are in place
• Manage relationships with lenders and ensure compliance with loan covenants
• Leading treasury management, budgeting, financial planning and reporting

About You:

• Recognised accountancy qualification (e.g. ACCA, ACA, CIMA)
• Proven experience in a senior finance and/or corporate services leadership role
• Experience working within the housing sector, or a similarly regulated, customer-facing environment.
• Experience of working effectively with a Board or committee, writing and presenting reports, strategies etc.
• Strong understanding of financial governance, legislation, and risk management as well as developing short, medium and long term financial plans which ensure their financial viability over the longer term
• A collaborative, values-driven leadership style who fosters an inclusive environment at the fore front of what they do
• Excellent communication and influencing skills to be able to communicate financial concepts and organisational performance insights to internal and external stakeholders

The Fundraising and Communications Officer is a vital member of the Membership and Development team, responsible for engaging and communicating with Humanists International's members and the wider public, with a strong focus on fundraising. This role involves developing and implementing communication and fundraising strategies, managing social media channels, creating compelling content, and utilizing AI tools to optimize outreach and fundraising effectiveness, particularly in engaging standard value supporters.

Key Responsibilities:

Fundraising and Development:

• Develop and implement fundraising plans and campaigns, with a focus on strategies to engage and cultivate standard value supporters.

• Create compelling content for fundraising appeals, ensuring alignment with Humanists International's values and mission.

• Analyze fundraising data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement, using AI-driven analytics where appropriate to understand standard value supporter behavior.

Membership Communications:

Content Creation and Publication:

• Produce high-quality written and visual content for various platforms, including the website, social media, newsletters, fundraising appeals, and reports, tailored to appeal to standard value supporters.

• Support the Chief Executive in writing the annual report, ensuring it effectively communicates the organization's achievements and impact to all supporters.

• Use AI tools to assist in content creation, including generating initial drafts, optimizing content for different platforms, and ensuring consistency in tone and style, particularly for communications targeting standard value supporters.

Collaboration and Support:

• Work closely with the Advocacy and Membership Development teams to ensure consistent messaging and effective communication of Humanists International's work, with a focus on integrating fundraising into all communications with standard value supporters.

Person Specification:

Essential:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences, including standard value supporters.

• Strong understanding of social media platforms and best practices, with experience in using social media for fundraising.

SIGNPOSTING AND FOODBANK SESSION COORDINATOR

Lambeth & Croydon Foodbank (part of Oasis Hub Waterloo)

FULL-TIME or PART-TIME: 32-40 HOURS PER WEEK

FIXED-TERM CONTRACT: 12 months, although will be extended if funding continues

We have an exciting opportunity for a Signposting and Collection Session Coordinator as part of our Foodbank team. This new role will provide dedicated 1-2-1 support to people accessing the Foodbank, delivering Foodbank collection sessions and developing our remote and in-person signposting and support for those accessing the Foodbank. This is a fast-faced, person-centered role, having a direct impact on the lives of local people experiencing hardship

Key responsibilities of this role will be:

• Providing operational support to Foodbank collection centres in host venues across Lambeth and Croydon
• Providing and developing wraparound support to those accessing the Foodbank
• Delivering and developing in-person and remote signposting
• Working with volunteers, partner organisations and host venues to provide effective and efficient support through collection sessions and beyond

The successful post holder must have:

• Proven experience of working or volunteering within a not-for-profit organisation/other food bank
• Experience working with people with multiple and complex needs
• Excellent communication skills
