Our new Director of Operations will be primarily responsible for ensuring our operational delivery pieces of work are delivered to a high standard, to targets and within timescales.
They’ll be responsible for line managing our current service and programme managers, ensuring that service / programme operational plans (including KPIs) and relevant individual staff work plans are in place and being adhered to.
The successful candidate will need to be an excellent and experienced people manager – with a focus on being firm but fair – as they will also oversee the line management via these managers of our operational delivery staff.
In addition, the Director of Operations will be responsible for ensuring tailored, robust and effective monitoring and evaluation systems are in place for all of our operational delivery work; seeking to demonstrate not just what we have done, but what we have achieved and the impact our interventions have had.
The post-holder will be responsible for reporting regularly and to a very high standard to the Chief Executive and Board of Trustees of Salford CVS; and to our funders, commissioners and partners.
Candidates will need to understand, implement and manage information governance and GDPR; safeguarding rules and regulations; and all aspects of relevant health and safety in relation to our operational delivery. They’ll also oversee marketing and communications for the organisation – working under the direction of the Chief Executive - so will need to be media savvy and have excellent IT skills.
Our successful candidate will require business and financial acumen to ensure that current and future operations continue on a sustainable and viable basis and will have the skills and experience to be able to evidence positive outcomes and impact for funders, customers and beneficiaries alike.

About the role:
This role is based at our Preston office covering the Lancashire area, once you have completed training & probation period you can apply for hybrid working, all travel costs to and from appointments from your office base will be reimbursed.
As an Operations Manager you will:
- Ensure the delivery of excellent services for victims according to KPIs and within the terms and conditions of the domestic abuse contract agreements
- Accountable for the performance of the service against business plans and performance standards, including compliance with all internal and external standards codes of practice and all legislative requirements.
- Identify potential problems and feed into risk registers and issue logs that may affect the service or its stakeholders and provide effective solutions.
- Responsible for the line management of team members including responsibility for recruitment, training completion, performance management and monitoring, continued support and guidance and implementing all relevant VS policies and procedures.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with key external partners and stakeholders to develop and improve the service. Regular attendance at contract monitoring meetings and update on areas of responsibility.

You will need to:
- Undergraduate degree or relevant professional qualification such as ILM level 5 or above or extensive experience in a supervisory role with budget management and target driven.
- Knowledge and understanding of government policy related to domestic abuse victims and the Criminal justice system and the impact of crime on victims and witnesses.
- Experience and knowledge of domestic abuse voluntary and statutory agencies, particularly in the criminal justice, health and social care sector.
- Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding practice and legislation relating to equal opportunities and diversity, inclusivity, safeguarding and risk assessments.

To ensure we are pursuing the right strategies, we are embarking on the formulation of our new strategy for the next 5 years in Spring 2025. We are searching for a dynamic, new Director of Finance and Operations as the College enters an exciting new period of growth across our Greater London and Greater Manchester regions and beyond. Ada is a high-performing specialist technical College, the first brand new Further Education College in England since 1993. We use our deep relationships with our learners and industry partners to deliver a transformative education experience and train the next generation of diverse digital talent. We achieve top tier results and outcomes for our learners with a particular focus on recruiting learners from less privileged circumstances, ethnically diverse backgrounds and young women who are particularly under represented in the tech sector. >90% of our alumni are in employment or further education. For those in employment, 67% earn greater than the median graduate salary and 97% earn greater than the local living wage.
All our sixth form students and apprentices are passionate about tech and we are committed to supporting them to progress onto highly skilled roles in the digital sector. In London, our specialist sixth form students consistently achieve the best BTEC Computing results in England while completing award winning work experience and live brief projects with industry partners like King Games, Deloitte and Bank of America.
In London and Manchester, we train almost 500 Higher Level and Degree Apprentices digital apprentices for 30+ companies ranging from Just Eat and Salesforce through to Deloitte and PwC as junior developers, data analysts and tech consultants. About You
Ada is looking for a talented Education Finance professional with experience of managing wider operational functions such as Data & Information, IT and premises. Leading a committed and growing team, you will be a key member of the College’s Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and work closely with Board Members. You will be laser focused on effectively managing Ada’s financial performance alongside the delivery of our digital transformation strategy and oversight of our MIS systems and data returns, ensuring our premises and IT deliver staff and students the resources they need. You will ensure our systems, processes and premises remain fit for purpose and focused on staff usability as the College grows and scales its learner volumes and impact. - Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of a robust financial, physical and digital management infrastructure for the College

- Lead the Finance, Data, Impact, IT and Premises teams, driving high performance and effectiveness.

Legislation and Compliance
• To provide leadership on ensuring that all statutory returns are accurately prepared and submitted in a timely fashion. These include the FE sector annual ESFA and ILR returns.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
• A demonstrable track record of successful financial management in an Education and Skills context
• Demonstrable experience of board-level interactions, external stakeholder management and leading and managing high-performing teams in line with Ada’s five values.

About the Accelerating Reform Fund
The Accelerating Reform Fund is a new initiative which aims to transform social care services, making them more responsive to the needs of the community. It is a national programme, with 42 regions allocated to have their own projects. Greater Manchester is one of the ARF regions. The ARF has a particular focus on unpaid carers aims to boost short-term breaks for carers and improve hospital discharge processes. Key Objectives
The Team Leader will work with the Operations Manager to support the delivery of all operational aspects of WHAG, focusing on supporting the team and day-to-day delivery of commissioned and grant-funded work.
WHAG staff are part of a team providing practical and emotional support to individuals and families experiencing domestic abuse, sexual violence, women, and young parents experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
You will ensure that all work is carried out within contractual requirements, and this involves multi-agency working, and engaging with local partners. You will work effectively with the Operations Manager to lead on allocated working priorities, which may include accommodation and community-based teams, both grants, funded and contracted.
This will include, for example, 24/7 access to support, the intake of enquiries and allocation of referrals, outreach, and accommodation support, working with individuals and children.
You will provide supervision, case management, and case quality audits and database oversight and will deputise for other team leaders (in your area) in their absence.
Working in partnership with the HR team you will support the effective recruitment and, onboarding induction of staff and volunteers in the areas, you are responsible for.
Support the monitoring and evaluation of the effectiveness of the service budget, financial sustainability and impact of all products and services.

About the role:
The Homicide Service provide exceptional support to people affected by murder and manslaughter. We work closely with Major Crime Teams within police forces across England and Wales. The Homicide Service CYP team integrates fluidly with the Homicide Service Family and Peer Support teams to provide cohesive and effective advocacy and support service to eligible service users across England and Wales. We also support families of British Nationals murdered abroad and so work closely with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office who refer into the Homicide Service.
You will lead a team of Team Leaders and CYP Caseworkers who deliver support in schools, community settings and homes. We offer a range of interventions to CYP including one to one support (digitally and in person); Peer Support and outreach within the community.
This role will develop the CYP service, constantly striving for the best outcomes for children and young people and so you will be driven to make a difference every day. You will demonstrate resilience and adaptability; understand the importance of professional boundaries; possess the excellent organisational skills required to manage a diverse workload with often competing priorities.
