About the role:
This is a new and exciting position for a Family Support Worker to join Combat Stress and work alongside the NHS as part of Op Courage throughout the Northwest of England. This position will be largely virtual, however travel to stakeholder locations will be expected as required. The role will be integrated into the Op Courage pathway, and as the service evolves and more staff are recruited, it is anticipated that the geographical region will become more localised, however in the first instance this position will involve supporting multiple NHS trusts within the North-West, therefore it would be preferable if the successful candidate lived within this area.
As Combat Stress is a national charity, the successful candidate will also be expected to create relationships with local authorities throughout the UK and to act as a liaison between the charity and the statutory sector in all matters pertaining to safeguarding.

Context and purpose of role
This role is responsible for ensuring the safeguarding of all individuals involved with the charity, including members, beneficiaries, staff, and volunteers. The role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring safeguarding policies and procedures, providing training, and responding to safeguarding concerns and incidents. The role works to create a safe and supportive environment, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and best practices.
Key responsibilities
- Act as the primary point of contact for safeguarding concerns and queries, providing advice and support to staff, volunteers, trustees and beneficiaries.
- Develop, review, and implement safeguarding policies and procedures in accordance with legal requirements and best practices, and ensure policies are effectively communicated and accessible to all staff, volunteers and stakeholders.
- Conduct and support the undertaking of regular risk assessments to identify potential safeguarding risks within the organisation.
- Work with teams across the organisation to develop and implement risk management strategies and controls to mitigate identified risks.
- Monitor and review risk management strategies to ensure they remain current and relevant.
- Provide guidance and support to staff and volunteers to promote understanding of safeguarding issues and practices and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
- Handle and investigate safeguarding concerns and incidents promptly and sensitively, managing the investigation process from end to end.

Purpose of the role
The Head of Support Services is responsible for leading the delivery of The Vitiligo Society’s tailored support to patients with vitiligo and their families, and contributing to the strategic development of the organisation and its services.

This role is critical to overseeing the delivery, development, and impact of the MOVE 8 Week Young People's Programme. As the team lead, you will manage Cancer Rehab Specialists and a team of freelancers. You'll aslso be working in collaboration with your line manager to drive innovation, patnerships, and excellence and have your own caseload of young people.
Leadership and Team Management
- Lead and manage the Cancer Rehab Specialist and a pool of freelancers delivering aspects of the programme.

Direct Support to Participants
- Provide one-on-one support to young people with a focus on physical activity and wellbeing.

The Role: Family Support Worker (Bereavement)
As a Family Support Worker at Addiction Family Support, you will provide crucial emotional and practical assistance to individuals bereaved by the loss of a loved one due to addiction. You will be responsible for delivering a range of services to provide support to people bereaved (and affected) by someone else’s harmful use of alcohol, drugs or gambling. Our service delivery takes place via several methods, including taking calls on our telephone Helpline, responding to emails through our email service and delivering the 5-Step Method intervention to individuals, couples and groups and facilitating group support via an online platform.
Working patterns are flexible to allow our services to run from 9am and 9pm 7 days a week. You may be expected to work on a rota basis, covering shifts during this period.

You will need to be confident in your ability to provide support via a variety of remote and digital platforms, being able to respond to immediate requests for support. Responsibilities:
- Offer empathetic and non-judgmental emotional support to those affected by the bereavement of a loved one due to addiction (via a Helpline and adapted 5-Step Method).
- Provide information, literature, and resources to help individuals and groups manage grief and cope with their situations.
- Facilitate or co-facilitate bereavement support group meetings, creating a safe space for participants to share their experiences and provide mutual support.
- Respond to inquiries and offer structured emotional support through helplines or support groups, following guidelines and safeguarding practices.

Job Purpose
To support of Habitat GB’s vision of a decent home for everyone, the Director of Retail is accountable for the successful introduction of a new home improvement retail store to Great Britain called Habitat ReStore, which sells donated home furnishings, appliances, and renovation materials. Habitat has already successfully introduced ReStore to other parts of its global network, including in the USA, Canada and Ireland, with all proceeds helping us ensure more people have access to decent homes.
The Director of Retail provides senior and strategic leadership for Habitat GB’s retail strategy, and for the entire ReStore operation. Key responsibilities include the planning, implementation, and monitoring of the impact of ReStore in Great Britain, such as income generation, brand awareness, partnership development, community engagement and outreach. The Director of Retail is also responsible for leading a high performing team to manage the ReStore footprint in Great Britain, and working collaboratively across Habitat GB, the international Habitat network (HFHI), and with external partners.

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities
Strategic development & leadership:
Provide senior and strategic leadership for end-to-end retail operations.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive commercial and profit-driven strategy aligned with Habitat GB’s mission and goals.
- Continue to identify and maximise the opportunities, revenue and profit presented by the commercial operations of Retail as well as volunteering, community engagement and other programmes, working in collaboration with colleagues in the Programme Delivery and Fundraising & Partnerships teams.

Performance management, reporting and monitoring:
- Set ambitious yet achievable revenue targets and other KPIs, monitoring progress effectively, taking proactive steps to meet and, where possible, exceed financial goals.
- Work with the Senior Leadership Team to oversee the active management of the National Strategy through the co-development of a new Performance Framework for the organisation, ensuring it is robust, strategically aligned, and balances prioritisation and focus with innovation and adaptability. Represent relevant areas of performance in governance forums, including Board level.
- Develop and manage the Retail department's budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.
- Coach staff on their commercial acumen, to nurture the teams in how to make the best financial decisions at their level of responsibility.

Ensure ReStore staff are supported to deliver outstanding volunteer management and build in regular feedback mechanisms.
- Working closely with the Head of People and others, support the ongoing development of a strong safeguarding culture throughout the organisation.
- Lead the development and monitoring of a safeguarding plan for all ReStore operations and programmes, including policy, protocols and training for volunteers and ReStore staff.

Reporting to the Director of Training and Quality, the Head of Quality will have responsibility for maintaining high quality standards across all operations relating to the delivery of Bikeability, the government’s national cycle training programme.
The post-holder will be familiar with the vocational qualification landscape and will hold (at least) Level 4 qualification in quality assurance.
They will ensure that quality is at the heart of Bikeability by development and delivery of the quality assurance system.

Quality Assurance Management

Develop with Director of Training and Quality the annual plan of quality improvement and training standardisation for the Bikeability Industry. This may include but not limited to:

Writing and continually improving IQA guidance for training providers. This may include written guidance, video, webinar and other resources

Developing and leading CPD for instructors and training providers

As Recruitment Coordinator, you’ll coordinate our volunteer recruitment programme and steward applicants through our processes to become fully onboarded volunteers, ready to support adult learners.

Location: Remote/home-working with regular in-person work across London as required (varies according to time of year but an average of once per week, reasonable travel expenses covered)

Your primary responsibilities as Recruitment Coordinator
