Whizz Kidz is transforming. It is an exciting time to join us as Partnerships Development Manager as we embark on an ambitious strategy for the next three years. As a senior member of the Corporate Partnerships team this role will work closely with the Head of Partnerships and play a key role in identifying, securing, developing and delivery of long-term relationships with companies – both large and small – so we increase the number, scale and value of corporate partnerships with the goal of providing more sustainable support for Whizz-Kidz. To achieve this, you will play a leading role in proactively identifying, researching and quantifying opportunities across priority sectors, manage your own prospect pipeline and work with internal teams to create a clear case for support that will help deliver long term shared purpose and shared value partnerships with clear synergies. You will play your part in helping build the Whizz Kidz brand, grow influence, drive income and deliver the organisational strategy.

Whizz Kidz: the facts

Over 75,000 young people aren’t getting the wheelchair or support that fully meets their needs. Without the ability to be independent young wheelchair users are restricted in their ability to socialise and participate in society.

As the UK’s leading charity for young wheelchair users (up to 25 years old), we empower young people by providing the wheelchairs, equipment, support and confidence-building experiences they need, and campaigning for a more inclusive society.

The Fundraising and communications team at Whizz Kidz raises around 95% of the income to fund the work of the charity and supports the generation of funds through on and offline publications, develops our social media and website presence and leads on PR activities.

The person

As the Whizz Kidz Partnership Development Manager you will be expected to get into the heart of the organisation, understand our ambitions and use your passion, knowledge and skills to help identify and deliver new mutually beneficial corporate partnerships. You will the experience and knowledge of how to identify and quantify the right opportunities for Whizz Kidz and know what it takes to win and manage different types of partnerships – employee engagement, strategic and brand and commercial. You will have strong written and verbal communication skills, be comfortable presenting and willing to develop and learn new skills. You will be keen to play a key role within the fundraising and marcomms team to help maintain a positive culture, use your strong relationship management skills internally and externally, help increase brand awareness and unlock vital income to create positive change for young wheelchair users and their families.

Key accountabilities

• A key role in the Partnerships team focused on generating long term sustainable income (unrestricted/restricted) from the corporate sector by developing income first multi-year employee engagement, strategic and commercial partnerships.

• Create and deliver engaging and targeted new business proposals, pitches and presentations as well as creating compelling and persuasive case for support with innovative, commercially-minded ideas to secure and establish successful new partnerships.

• Lead role in helping the Partnerships team achieve its financial targets through new and existing partnerships while working closely with Head of Partnerships to monitor income against budget and develop financial reports.

• Lead role in researching and quantifying opportunities alongside identifying and cultivating relationships with new prospects with a view to securing face to face meetings, delivering presentations and securing long-term support.

• Experience of researching, preparing and delivering high-quality new business approaches/pitches to help engage potential partners

• Confident building and managing a prospect pipeline including employee engagement, strategic and commercial opportunities across different sectors

• Comfortable networking and working with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels

• Previous knowledge of fundraising databases and using data insights

• A ‘can-do’ attitude, solid decision making skills and ability to work independently

What the job involves

This is an exciting new role within our Integrated Marketing and Media department, managing a talented Media and PR team, creating impactful moments that inspire action and drive change for men.

You’ll be responsible for developing our media and PR approach, ensuring prioritisation to deliver our Communications strategy and campaign objectives. You’ll contribute to future planning, crisis planning, and measuring impact by tracking and evaluating our PR results.

You’ll work with our paid media agency to maximise our media partnerships, ensuring all our work delivers for men. You’ll work alongside our creative content team to help men affected by prostate cancer share their stories and build strong relationships with our spokespeople and key stakeholders.

We are looking for an experienced project and programme manager with a passion for public dialogue to support and deliver work on technology futures and public dialogue.

In this role you will support the delivery of a programme of public dialogue and listening activities on engineering and emerging technologies, which builds public voice into the work of the Royal Academy of Engineering. This role will play a leading role in establishing the important practice of bringing public listening into engineering programmes including policy and research programmes, innovation accelerators and international engagement at the Academy.

As a programme manager, you will manage a diverse and innovative programme of projects and events that support meaningful dialogue, deliberation and community engagement activities following the leadership of the Principal Consultant and Associate Director (Engineering Policy). The project will help more community buildings and homes to be more energy efficient, by providing expertise, training, volunteering and sharing learning.  Energy Neighbours supports and funds organisation development, community activities, volunteering, community business and partnership development, helping communities have a stronger voice and more capacity to impact on their priorities and concerns.

The new Energy Neighbours team includes a Project Manager, Project Coordinator and an Information and Data Manager. About the Team

The team work closely together with the shared aim of delivering exceptional supporter experience and raising the reliable income the hospital needs to help provide extraordinary care for seriously ill children and their families.

What kind of research does the NSPCC Research and Evidence team do? 

The NSPCC Research and Evidence team carries out, commissions and partners on high quality social research. We seek to answer big and small questions around preventing and stopping child abuse, and how to support children who have experienced it.

• Our research is child-centred, meaningful and useful - it drives improvements to our work with children, families and communities, influences the development of policy and guidance, and contributes to new NSPCC campaigns, as well as adding to the wider evidence base. 
• We also support research activity at NSPCC via our Research Advice Clinic, Evidence Summary Service, and the NSPCC Research Ethics Committee.

 What will the job involve? 

This is an exciting and varied role for a researcher with excellent project management skills. You'll be working with colleagues in departments across the NSPCC including Childline, Policy and Public Affairs, Knowledge and Information, Schools services and Participation. Current projects we're working on include research on technology assisted online sexual extortion, sex and relationships education at secondary and primary levels, problematic sexual behaviour and provision of services to tackle loneliness, to name just a few.

• Designing and project managing research on a wide range of NSPCC research projects. 

• Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to develop research projects and advising other teams in the NSPCC about how to carry out robust and ethical research.

Trusts and Foundations Manager

The Trusts and Foundations Manager with be responsible for the ongoing management of the current successful high-value portfolio ranging from £2m commitments to £100k grants. In addition to ensuring the current portfolio is expertly stewarded with the aim of renewing and uplifting existing funders, the role will also be responsible for expanding the portfolio, focusing on both the national programme and the individual pathfinders projects in the longer term.

The Trusts and Foundations Manager with not have any direct line management reports in order to focus their time on fundraising but will work closely with The Manager will take a relationship-based approach to our funding partnership, working directly with grantors to create impactful propositions and proposals to support Thrive at Five’s strategic priorities. The successful applicant will develop and manage a detailed prospect pipeline managed through our database, to ensure we make the very best of opportunities, in addition to new partnerships being identified and scoped.

The role will involve collaboration and coordination across the organization, both to keep abreast of the latest information for grantors, but also to bring key stakeholders and experts into discussions and partnerships as and when necessary to further develop and strengthen relationships. colleagues, providing coaching, support and advice on the lower-level trust portfolio on a regular basis.

Hybrid (1-2 days per week in our London office and the rest of the week working from home – with occasional national travel to our local sites) 

Our preference is a 5 day a week, 35 hours per week role. However, we will consider excellent candidates who are available 4 days a week.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy and Planning

• Work with the Head of Fundraising to further develop the long-term fundraising strategy working to maximise multi-year partnerships from like-minded funders
• Manage the annual planning processes for Trusts and Foundations, prioritising meaningful engagement and stewardship opportunities for new and existing funders
• Work closely with the Director of Finance on the annual budget and monthly forecasts

Portfolio Management

• Manage the existing portfolio of c. 25 active multi-year grants ranging from £100k-£2m, providing excellent and timely reporting in addition to creative and impactful ongoing stewardship. The existing funders’ interests will be split across our national programme and regional pathfinders (currently Stoke-on-Trent and Redcar and Cleveland, with discussions underway in Middlesborough and Scotland).
• Regularly communicate with those in the portfolio on a 1:1 basis, working with senior stakeholders directly as and when necessary to maximise opportunities including Trustees, Advisory Board Members, Senior Leadership Team (‘SLT’) and the CEO
• Organise and attend programme visits to pathfinder locations as and when necessary to strengthen partnerships with grantors, long term in addition to regular face to face funder meetings
• Support the delivery of cultivation and stewardship events for prospects, funders and connectors, cross the country

Prospect Research and Pipeline Management

• Manage a portfolio of c.30 warm and cold prospects, to create bespoke cultivation opportunities, engage in fact-finding discussions, and submit detailed concept notes and proposals as relationships develop. The aim is for the existing portfolio of active funders to double over the next two years through a rigorous prospect engagement programme
• Focus on constant movement and momentum within the trusts and foundations pipeline, continuously researching new prospects, and network mapping contacts across the organisations to explore new avenues of support for both the national programme and the pathfinder projects
• Proactively engage with the grant making community with a shared interested in early years development by attending sector specific events and opportunities, and in addition to those focused on pathfinder areas such as Scottish grantmakers or those focused on the Northwest of England.

Processes and Systems

• Champion data excellence across fundraising by utilising the Raiser Edge database, ensuring it is the up-to-date centralised data management system for all prospects, funders, events and communications
• Provide regular reports to the Head of Fundraising and SLT on movement within the grants pipeline including chances of success
• Support the management of the lower-level grants portfolio, taking a coaching approach and sharing your expertise widely
• Work with the Head of Fundraising to ensure the team are confident in all fundraising processes and procedures including grant acceptance policy, due diligence policy, prospect research process, data protection policy and GDPR requirements
