As the UK’s leading university access organisation, our staff team is helping over 50,000 young people each year at its 43 learning centres and extension projects across England and Scotland, and we plan to scale-up our provision to 50 centres over the coming years. 

We are seeking a part-time HR Policy and Inclusion Manager on a fixed-term basis (maternity leave cover) to join the HR team. In this role, you’ll take on lead responsibility for making sure that IntoUniversity’s HR policies and practices follow best practice, are compliant with employment legislation, and align with IntoUniversity’s mission and objectives. This could range from creating new policies for our staff handbook, through to undertaking research into an exciting new staff benefit.

You’ll also play a key role in ensuring that our employment and HR practices are inclusive, acting as the Diversity and
Inclusion Lead on our HR team and supporting with the implementation of the Diversity and Inclusion Strategy.

Working hours

Our Head Office team is based on the site of our North Kensington centre in West London. We are an organisation with team members at different stages of their career, including many in their first roles: we are committed to nurturing talent and providing a developmental culture for all. Our Head Office team works in-person 4 days per week with 1 day from home. 

Salary

£38,100 (inclusive of London contribution of £2,600) pro rata. Pro rata salary is £15,240 (inclusive of London contribution of £1,040)

The Helen Bamber Foundation (HBF) is a specialist UK charity which provides expert care and support survivors of torture, trafficking and other extreme human cruelty. We work with hundreds of clients every year from all over the world.

The expertise of the Foundation is renowned in the field. Through the Model of Integrated Care, HBF offers survivors access to an individually tailored programme of specialist therapy, medical advisory services, legal protection including providing expert medico-legal documentation, welfare and housing support, and creative and skills activities within an integration programme. Survivors of human trafficking benefit from HBF’s counter-trafficking programme of support.

The Role

This is an opportunity to join HBF’s specialist multi-disciplinary team, working alongside experts in asylum and immigration law, and trauma-informed ways of working. The purpose of this role is to lead on HBF’s legal and policy work as it relates to our survivor of trafficking clients alongside our Director of Policy. The Counter Trafficking Legal and Policy Specialist will split their work between HBF’s legal and policy teams – spending three days on legal work and two days on policy work, while also liaising with the multi-disciplinary team to manage client needs and ensure expert collaborative working.

About the role

Sightsavers’ work in the field of education is driven by the principle of inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for all. We are looking for a Global Technical Lead – Inclusive Education to provide technical leadership and expertise in inclusive education to guide the development and delivery of specific initiatives and programmes.

As the Global Technical Lead for Inclusive Education, you will support Sightsavers to promote inclusive education for children, youth, and adults with disabilities in education systems in West Africa, East, Central and Southern Africa (ECSA), and South Asia. Working across multiple countries, you will ensure that disability inclusion is at the centre of conceptualisation, design and implementation of Sightsavers’ projects.

Strong communication skills in English and French are essential for this role, as is the availability to travel 12-16 weeks a year, nationally and internationally.

Principal accountabilities will include:

• To provide technical leadership and expertise in inclusive education at the programmatic level
• To strengthen the global programme portfolio in inclusive education through leading strategic and technical inputs in proposal development for funding opportunities.
• To pioneer new strategic initiatives and innovative approaches in inclusive education to improve and enhance the quality of Sightsavers’ work, especially in cross-cutting priority areas like climate action, gender equity and the use of data and evidence.
• To contribute to the research, innovation, policy, advocacy and communications agendas through close collaboration with interdepartmental teams and key external stakeholders.
• To undertake senior level representation of Sightsavers as an expert in inclusive education at national, regional and international professional and sector-specific networks, platforms, conferences and meeting

This is an ideal opportunity to build on your existing expertise in leading and developing programmes in inclusive education in lower income countries. We are looking for a skilled communicator with the ability to build strong working relationships across different departments and work collaboratively as a member of our cross-functional teams.  To succeed in this role, you will need:

• A Postgraduate qualification (minimum Master’s) or equivalent experience in a relevant field, e.g. education, special needs education; disability, international development
• Business to fluent French language skills
• A proven record of leading, developing and implementing programmes in inclusive education in lower income countries.
• Experience of working with national governments and international institutions such as Global Partnership for Education, UN agencies, bilateral agencies as well as non-state actors to contribute to education system transformation.
• Knowledge of current developments, issues and best practice in inclusive education to effectively address the barriers to education for children with disabilities
• Able to travel for up to 12-16 weeks a year (regional and international).

Job Context

YMCA England & Wales is the national body of the YMCA in England & Wales, supporting, developing and representing just over 100 local YMCA’s, ranging from small community based organisations to nationally relevant specialists.

Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to ensure that YMCA England & Wales is able to mobilise the public, our federation, external organisations and young people to support our campaigns calling for political or social changes to improve the lives of young people across the country. This will include building relationships with local YMCAs and young people to ensure our work is informed and driven by those we represent, creating advocacy actions for them and the public to engage with and giving our young people a platform for their voices to be heard.

Scope and Limits of Authority:

The Campaigns Officer will report into the Public Affairs and Campaigns Manager. The post will have no line management or formal budgetary responsibilities.

The post holder must operate at all times in accordance with the approved policies and procedures of YMCA England & Wales and act in accordance with the values and ethos of the organisation as outlined in the Code of Conduct.  In addition all employees must adhere to the performance management processes and systems approved by the Board of Trustees.

The post holder will support the Safeguarding, health and well-being and safety of staff, volunteers and supporters we work with, some of whom may be classed as vulnerable people or adults at risk. The Baobab Centre is a non-residential therapeutic community that supports young asylum seekers and refugees who have experienced human rights abuses and have sought asylum in the UK as unaccompanied minors. Our two focus areas are rehabilitation and justice.

This is a unique oppertunity for a passionate and experienced fundraiser to progress further in their career, with the freedom to creatively enhance and develop the fundraising strategy of an impactful community-based charity.

As Senior Fundraising Lead you will be Baobab’s key fundraiser and a self-starter with experience of working in a small or medium sized charity. You will lead on the development of fundraising at Baobab, exploring new avenues for funding, as well as nurturing and growing existing fundraising relationships. You will be responsible for strategising and carrying out a successful program of fundraising from small, medium and large charitable trusts and foundations to an agreed annual fundraising target. You will also assist in delivering Baobab’s individual major donor programme, helping to set up and deliver communications and events related to this income stream. There is scope to explore further fundraising activites including events, corporate and community fundraising. You will play a central role and work closely with our operations team, as well as recieving expert monthly mentoring from a senoir fundraising consultant. 

This role is for 4 or 5 days per week depending on your preference, it will include Fridays which is when staff meetings are held.

Mental Health:  All of the young people Baobab supports suffer significant mental health and developmental difficulties and many function in an unstable and more immature way than their chronological age. Due to their experiences it takes time to gain trust from the young people in our community. As a core member of our team, you will understand the impact of specific human rights abuses on the development of children and young people in exile and their individual experiences of loss, trauma and grief on their mental health and well-being.

It often takes a significant amount of time to understand Baobab’s model of working, which aims for rehabilitation and justice through attending to both the internal and external world of each young. Main responsibilities

• Work with the Head of Engagement, Communications and Fundraising to review our current trusts & foundations offerings & processes. Develop a set of recommendations for improvements, with the potential to overhaul the proposition and shape it in your own vision

• Working towards funding goals as laid out in our update Fundraising Strategy, consult the Lower Chew Forest project lead to identify and package up specific funding opportunities

• Identify areas of our work that might be of interest to funders supplying unrestricted income

Network Development Coordinator (Liverpool City Region)

Resolve Poverty is seeking a Network Development Coordinator to establish a cross-sectoral community of Liverpool City Region based stakeholder organisations. Working with this community, the Network Development Coordinator will identify opportunities to strengthen anti-poverty activities across the city region that align with Resolve Poverty’s strategic priorities to: 

o Maximise the financial resources available to households 

o Implement effective strategic responses to poverty 

o Equip stakeholders with the knowledge they need to tackle poverty.

This exciting new role will enable you to harness the work of Resolve Poverty so that we can have impact across Liverpool City Region. You will join a dedicated and growing team working to maximise the impact of local responses to poverty in order to resolve poverty nationally. 

Title: Network Development Coordinator (Liverpool City Region) 

Location: Combination of homeworking and office based. There is an expectation that you will work one day a week from our offices in central Manchester.

Hours: 5 days per week (35 hours). Shorter working hours will be considered for the right candidate.

Contract: 36 months.

Probationary period: 4 months.

Purpose: To establish a cross-sectoral community of Liverpool City Region based stakeholder organisations that strengthens local and regional responses to poverty.

Job description 

We are seeking capacity to build a Liverpool City Region network of professionals and volunteers actively engaged in tackling poverty that: 

o Creates a space for good practice sharing.

o Shares evidence, research and policy developments through communication channels, training and events. This will:

o Improve the ability of the public sector to implement effective responses to poverty. 

o Enable the VCSE sector to access the knowledge it needs to improve and better target responses to poverty.

o Utilises network insights and knowledge to identify strategic, policy and practical gaps in anti-poverty responses. 

Delivering this role effectively will involve: 

o Establishing a network of Liverpool City Region based professionals and volunteers signing up to receive communications. 

o Engaging in key forums and on a one to one basis with key stakeholders, including local authorities, the Combined Authority and VCSE sector infrastructure bodies.

o Hosting meetings, forums and events to create space for anti-poverty knowledge development and activities 

o Delivering against funding KPIs, including network reach and engagement targets.

o Working closely with Resolve Poverty colleagues, including our Business Development Executive and Communications and Media Officer.

o Experience of working in a relevant VCSE sector networking role or with transferable skills developed in other roles.

o An understanding of the Liverpool City Region context, including knowledge of the city region’s political and VCSE sector landscape.

About the role

The key purpose of the role is to lead the development and delivery of the Trust & Grants Strategy: meeting and/or exceeding income targets, supporting the ongoing development and delivery of strategic objectives and KPIs, ensuring strong stewardship of our existing donor relations and prospecting new opportunities for funding. The Trusts and Grants Team sits within the Philanthropy & Partnership Team in Freedom from Torture's friendly, creative and ambitious Fundraising & Communications Directorate.

You will represent the organisation externally with funders and work internally with colleagues to identify opportunities for funding, in the preparation of proposals and thereafter, reports.

About you

To be successful in this role you must have demonstrable experience of developing and implementing a plan to grow Trust & Grant income, successfully meeting or exceeding fundraising targets from a variety of funders and experience managing relationships with statutory funders and trust and foundations. You will have experience of managing fundraisers and supporting them to manage their priorities and portfolios. You will have experience of measuring and monitoring income and expenditure, and team performance.

It's essential that you have excellent communication skills and can build relationships across the organisation to develop strong fundraising ideas and support engagement with senior staff in building relationships with trusts. You will have experience of managing donor funded grants including review of financial information, preparation of donor reports and donor compliance. You must have experience and knowledge of statutory and grant fundraising research tools and grant writing in the UK charity sector.
