About the Role

• The Connection Community is a place where people can gain respite from street homelessness, engage in group and coproduction activities, develop social inclusion and reduce isolation and have their needs met by a committed and dedicated multi-disciplinary team.
• You will be joining a dynamic and creative team, focused on building trust through relationships.
• You will support the team to identify, engage and provide harm minimisation to our clients whilst promoting a sense of belonging, and working with clients to support them on their journey towards a place to call home.
• Together we are piloting a new approach to working with people experiencing homelessness in Westminster facing multiple exclusion. We are creating a psychologically-informed environment, adopting a trauma-informed model with direct support from a team of specialist NHS psychologists.
• You will have experience in delivering a psychologically, gender and culturally informed service to people who are experiencing street homelessness.  You will be both strength-based and solution-focused, developing and enhancing the service with a commitment to embedding coproduction.

Background:
Established in 2011, Kaleidoscope Trust (KT) is a UK-based charity focused on fighting for the human rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and gender diverse (LGBTI+) people across the Commonwealth and beyond. We fund, fight for and empower those upholding the human rights of LGBTI+ people by working with governments, changemakers and civil society organisations to effect meaningful and lasting change in the lives of LGBTI+ people.
 

The Role:
The UK Policy and Advocacy Manager will lead Kaleidoscope Trust’s UK-focused policy and public affairs activities, in line with the organisation’s strategic objectives, and support, where appropriate, the wider work of the Policy and Public Affairs Team, including with external relations, communications, campaigns and events.

This role aims to:
▪ Provide the Secretariat function to support the co-chairs of the APPG for Global LGBT+ Rights to deliver the APPG’s strategy and work plan.
▪ Build and maintain relationships with government officials and the wider policy community across the UK, strategically deploying senior organisational staff or representing Kaleidoscope Trust and the APPG in external meetings and civil society forums as directed, and support delivery of events where such stakeholders are to be engaged.
▪ Identify and share insights into relevant emerging international political and policy trends helping to anticipate issues, risks and opportunities and translate these for relevant UK stakeholders.
▪ Draft insightful and compelling policy submissions, briefings and papers under the guidance of KT’s Head of Policy and Public Affairs.
▪ Fulfil the key responsibilities of the job role in a professional manner while adapting to often changing circumstances and re-prioritising accordingly.

About the Investment team

The investment team is responsible for selecting portfolio partners, managing our investments in these partners and supporting them to improve and scale their impact.

The investment team also leads the Impetus Leadership Academy, a leadership development programme to support talent from ethnic minority backgrounds in the UK youth sector to progress into senior leadership roles.

The team is made up of 18 people, including former teachers, charity chief executives, charity impact leads, management consultants, social investment portfolio managers and impact consultants.

The team is led by a Portfolio Director who sits on the Senior Management Team. The Portfolio Director has 5 direct reports: a Deputy Portfolio Director, three Sector Leads (who lead our work in School engagement, School attainment and Employment Sectors) and an Impact Lead. Sector Leads line manage 6 Investment Directors. Investment Directors line manage Investment Managers (currently 5). Investment Directors and Investment Managers tend to primarily focus on a sector but might have mixed portfolios, depending on need, experience and interest.

The investment team has a good track record of role progression. All four Sector Leads and a number of our Investment Directors were promoted from within the team.

The team is passionate, rigorous, determined, creative and warm. We care deeply for our colleagues, our charity partners and the young people we serve.

About the Investment Manager role

The Investment Manager (IM) works as an integral part of the Investment Team to help deliver our mission – supporting portfolio partners to deepen their impact and scale their outcomes. This role works closely with Investment Directors and other Investment Managers, including both charity-facing support and internal support to the investment team.

The IM uses analytical rigour, project management and relationship skills to support a portfolio of amazing organisations that, together, will help shift the life chances and outcomes of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in the UK.

The IM role works across the portfolio, with the opportunity to work with various charities and Investment Directors, and may be involved in delivering the Impetus Leadership Academy. 

Key responsibilities

Investment Management

• Working closely with Investment Directors to support portfolio partners across all areas of our work - leadership, impact and sustainability - leading specific work streams like impact and/or financial management.
• Building trust-based relationships with charity leaders including CEOs, delivery staff and Programme / Impact leads, to become a valued advisor on practice improvement.
• Working closely with staff at our partners charities, providing guidance, thought partnership and capacity building.
• Working with Impact teams at charity partners to develop and refine impact management practices; data collection, dashboard development, performance review meetings, programme design and evaluation.
• Coaching charities' heads of functions (e.g. Director of Impact) to develop as leaders and help drive an impact-led approach within their organisations
• Curating pro- bono projects leveraging our large network of corporate volunteers to provide targeted support in key areas for our charity partners (e.g. strategy, marketing advice, financial analysis).
• Supporting Investment Directors with design and delivery of theory of change workshops, analysing charity impact data, developing and analysing pre-workshop surveys, facilitating workshops.
• Supporting Impetus’ quarterly peer learning forums for our charity partners, in particular the Impact Forum.
• Supporting the governance of our investments, preparing reports for Investment and Steering Committees.

Investment team support

• Supporting/leading the annual cycle of identifying new investments - mapping the landscape of charities in thematic areas (e.g. Apprenticeships and Skills), identifying high potential charities though analysis of key impact and financial data and reviewing the current evidence base.
• Playing a key role in due diligence of new charities, reviewing charity information (quantitative and qualitative) and drawing insights about their suitability for investment; This includes considering impact and scale potential, financial stability and developing a business case for investment including identifying risks. Requires strong relationship management with potential charity partners.
• Developing knowledge and expertise in Education and Youth Employment, staying up to date on relevant sector developments.
• Working closely with the Public Affairs team and ensuring teams are integrated in their thinking and approach – both ensuring we are coordinated in our support to the sector and working on cross-team projects that support the wider Employment and Education sectors.

Support to the Impetus organisation

• Working collaboratively on Impetus’ public affairs and philanthropy objectives through input into case studies, research and policy campaigns, donor reports and events.
• Sharing the learning from our work across the team, across the organisation and externally 
• Working within Impetus strategy, policies and procedures.

The White Rose Forest (WRF) is the Community Forest for North and West Yorkshire and was voted Community Forest of the Year in 2024, in recognition of our leading role within the England’s Community Forests network. 2025 is an important year for the WRF as we set out our ambitious plans and targets for woodland establishment and management in North and West Yorkshire over the next 25 years and publish our new 5-year Action Plan.  To help us deliver these plans, we are recruiting for a talented Development Manager to join our WRF core team. The White Rose Forest Development Manager is a new role that will be responsible for the development and delivery of a new fundraising function and strategy for the White Rose Forest, with support from the White Rose Forest Programme Director, the wider White Rose Forest team, partners and other stakeholders.

We are looking for a confident and experienced fundraiser who can draw on their previous record of success in a similar role to build relationships with a range of potential funders and secure the best opportunities to grow our non-Government project and unrestricted income. From setting up a charitable function for the White Rose Forest to developing our fundraising strategy, you will have the exciting opportunity to shape this new role. You will also be able to call on the expertise and experience within the Community Forest Trust and our England’s Community Forests network to support your work.

The Development Manager will be employed through the Community Forest Trust on behalf of the White Rose Forest and will work as part of the WRF core team. The post holder will have access to all systems available to the wider team, and training opportunities as required.

The Development Manager, as with all members of the central WRF team, will work from home without an office base. However, there is the requirement to attend monthly meetings in locations spread across North and West Yorkshire and at other times as required by the needs of the organisation. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious self-starter who wants to be a part of a team that is working to take the charity to its next level of growth and development. We are looking for someone to join the Senior Leadership Team who will bring experience from their past successes and provide inspirational strategic leadership and direction to the fundraising and communications functions in support of our 5-year vision and charitable mission and objectives.

About the role

We are looking to bring on board a new Bid Manager who is passionate about Changing Lives’ mission and want to make a real difference to peoples’ lives. As a member of the Business Development Team, you will make the case to our funders so that we can secure existing and new business, in order to further support the communities we work with.

Together the Business Development Team work across all our delivery areas; Homelessness, Recovery and Addiction, Women and Children, and Employment. You will work closely with our operational teams to help design and develop life-changing services. You will seek to involve people in services as much and as deeply as possible to ensure their needs, aspirations and views are the foundations of our thinking and model development. And as the world never stands still, you’ll continually review and develop our offers to reflect best practice and innovation.

You will build excellent, trusted relationships with our partners and commissioners, so you’ll be well placed to generate partnerships, spot and assess potential opportunities and ultimately convert them into new business. You’ll manage the tender process from start to finish, from identifying opportunities through to submission of bids to Local Authorities and other statutory bodies, as well as managing grant applications to charitable Trusts and Foundations. Key to this will be writing clear and persuasive bids that meet the requirements of our funders, represent our vision and values and showcase our excellent services.

Salary: £42,237 per annum, pro rata

Automatic enrolment into our pension scheme and the WCIA will match your contribution up to a maximum of 5% of your gross salary (minimum 4%).

Employment terms: this is a part-time, fixed term position for 12 months, starting as soon as possible. There will be a 3-month probationary period. All candidates must have the right to work in the UK.

Following a 3-month probation period, you will transition to a fixed-term contract. Upon successful completion of this term, you will be offered a permanent employment contract. A minimum salary of £39,695.24 gross (our salary base for people resident in the UK) will apply from the beginning of the probationary period. The salary base may change due to your previous experience related to the position, or your experience in animal advocacy (+3% for each year). In addition, the salary increases with your seniority in Open Cages according to the following model:

+ 7% – for every year worked at Open Cages during the first 5 years of work

+ 5% – for every year worked at Open Cages during the next 5 years of work

+ 3% – for every year worked at Open Cages during the next 5 years of work

About your role

We are a small and ambitious early-stage organisation with two full-time team members. Our current objective: to help the 1 billion chickens raised annually in the UK. By joining us as a campaigner you will be both strategising and spending time on the frontlines, by talking to the biggest companies, producing investigative reports and giving media interviews. Your first task will be to help us convince the UK’s largest food businesses to improve their chicken welfare policies through public and behind-the-scenes advocacy. While this may sound challenging, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make a historic change for those who cannot stand up for themselves. Someone has to pick up the fight, and we hope it will be You.

Due to the broad scope of our work, there is no simple description of the perfect campaigner. There may also be certain areas where you are stronger than others, and we are open to fitting the role around you. We are looking for a generalist rather than a specialist. However, you do need to have some particular strengths such as resilience, persistence, creativity, and critical thinking. Ideally, some day, you will be able to lead a big team and transfer your knowledge to them.

• Take risks – negotiating in a high stakes meeting, attending a farming conference, organising a protest, taking 500 videos of a retailer’s chicken products for a BBC story (yes, we did this!) – in this role you will need to be comfortable with stepping out of your comfort zone.
• Conduct research – you will spend many hours online gathering information, working with investigators and lawyers, or delivering 50 chicken products to a lab in Germany (we did this too).
• Create engaging content – you will produce emotive graphics and videos for social media, factual reports and data-driven briefings for journalists and politicians.
• Work with the media – you will engage with journalists, write press releases, and give the odd interview.
• Mobilise advocates – you will write emails to our supporters and motivate them to take action with us. You will also organise and run street actions like protests and stunts.

About the oppurtunity:
You will help drive the quality and impact of our key stage 2 (KS2) and key stage 4 (KS4) maths tutoring programmes through subject-specific training of volunteer tutors, and by advising and supporting our (mostly) non-teaching staff members who manage these volunteer tutors day to day.

You will also observe and give feedback to volunteer tutors delivering maths tuition, and deliver general training for new volunteers, so that they are confident and effective in taking part in our tutoring programmes.

Specific responsibilities relating to the role:

Supporting the delivery of our maths curriculum: 

• Design and deliver online maths-focused training for volunteer tutors so that subject knowledge is secure within the tutor community.
• Provide advice and support, including some direct tutor communications, on subject-specific matters for Action Tutoring staff who manage volunteer tutors.
• Maintain existing tutoring GCSE and KS2 maths curriculum resources to ensure volunteer tutors have high quality materials to use in sessions.
• Support Action Tutoring’s Programme Department to provide and respond to requests for additional materials for tutoring sessions, particularly maths sessions.
• Support with creation of additional maths resources on an ad hoc basis as required, applying Action Tutoring’s pedagogical approach and standards for diversity, equity and inclusion.
• Format any newly generated maths curriculum content for printing.
• Reformat maths curriculum resources for online delivery of tutoring sessions.
• Engage in learning and development opportunities in order to keep knowledge about the expectations set out in the maths national curriculum (KS2 and KS4) and the main exam boards up to date.

Quality assuring tutoring delivery:

• Observe several virtual tutoring sessions a week. Make detailed and unbiased notes on tutor skills, craft empathetic constructive feedback in emails.
• Support our programme delivery team to craft communications and feedback to tutors.
• Produce ‘quality tips’ and resources for tutors and staff.
• Work with Action Tutoring’s volunteer engagement team to feedback trends so that the quality assurance process at the tutor application stage is as strong as possible.

Delivering volunteer tutor training:

• Support the Training Manager by delivering up to four virtual initial tutor training sessions a week during peak months, presenting Action Tutoring’s established training content.
• Support the Training Manager by contributing updates to tutor training content.
• Create content for tutor CPD materials to support with maths tutoring.

Qualifications criteria: 

• Qualified secondary school teacher of Mathematics
• At least two year’s teaching experience in English state schools with an understanding of the barriers facing disadvantaged pupils 
• Right to Work

• Experience designing and formatting curriculum resources to support learning, either for print or digital use

Room to Heal is looking for a Co-Director for Finance & Fundraising to work with our Co-Director for Frontline Operations to support the thriving of our community.

About us

Room to Heal is an established therapeutic community in London. We support refugees and people seeking asylum, many of whom are torture survivors, through an integrated programme of therapeutic and casework assistance, in the context of a community of survivors. Our approach recognises the political context of our community members’ multiple and ongoing experiences of trauma and marginalisation including in their home country, on their journey to, and within, the UK. We offer long term and holistic support.

We are looking for a Co-Director who:

• Will ensure the overall financial sustainability of the charity through development of the fundraising strategy and oversight of its implementation
• Understands the experiences of our members in order to sustain Room to Heal’s therapeutic community and ensure the safety and appropriateness of all of our services
• Has awareness and interest in psychotherapy and group work
• Makes strategic decisions that centre the experience of refugees and people seeking asylum alongside maintaining the sustainability of the organisation
• Has the drive, care and vision to create new opportunities to support refugees and people seeking asylum and to learn and share experiences through external networks and partnerships in the UK and internationally
• Is able to speak with authenticity and challenge injustices knowing directly what the impact is due to own lived experience
• Can lead by consensus and collaboration and has a strong belief in the therapeutic benefits of community.
