This fixed term role will be the Business Development Strategic Lead for the Welfare market. Therefore an understanding of the Welfare funding landscape, and the key stakeholders within this market is desirable. It should be noted however that as the Strategic Lead role is a generic role, successful candidates may be required and have the opportunity to work in other market/BD strategic areas.
Candidates will demonstrate excellent stakeholder management skills and understanding of funding flows, bidding processes, competition, and the political environment and be driven by the desire to make the most difference to the people who come to us for help.
In this role, you will be responsible for researching and producing a targeted market strategy and account management plan, working with internal stakeholders (national and local) to ensure the organisation has a clear vision of what we want to achieve in your lead market/BD strategic area and how working collaboratively we can get there. On a typical day, you will be working with colleagues from across the whole service to drive our BD activity, leading relevant national and local colleagues in opportunity assessment and planning, pursuit decision gating processes, account management and influencing external stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be supported to undertake an APMP Foundation qualification in Proposal Management, if they do not hold already.

About The Role
The Help for Heroes Community Development team are looking to recruit a team of Community Builders to assist in their reshaped participation and connection strategy. Using Asset Based Community Development, we seek to support the charity’s objective to enhance reach and positive impact for members of the Armed Forces Community facing challenges within their local communities.

We are looking for a motivated, dynamic and confident people who are passionate about collaborating with communities in the design and delivery of interventions that bring and connect people together to strengthen networks within the local community. Working closely with Community Development Managers across regions within the UK, the Community Builders will play a vital role in helping to improve lives for Armed Forces Community members by creating a supportive environment that allows them to re-engage and connect with the services at Help for Heroes and with the wider community.
The main purpose of this role is to connect local people through their skills, passions and assets and support the creation of new connections, bringing people together to improve wellbeing and make the community a better place to live. This will include listening to different points of views, building relationships and motivating people to work together and create their own action influenced by their interests and skillsets to positively impact local communities and help them to flourish.
About You
You will have experience leading and facilitating the mobilisation of local communities, asset mapping, bringing together people for engagement that matters to them. You will have knowledge and experience of Asset Based Community Development work, outreach methods and you will have good organisational skills, energy and the ability to animate local communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver outreach to drive local connection, engagement and participation opportunities for the AFC
- Develop and embed an ABCD informed way of work

- Organise and facilitate community meetings to share ideas, encourage collective decision making and build a sense of belonging

PLEASE NOTE: The successful candidates will need to be based within an hour’s commute of their allocated locality and there is a requirement to travel within a 75-mile radius of this location (travel expenses covered). Flexibility in working hours is necessary to ensure a total of 70 hours is covered over a 2-week period so please take this into consideration before applying.
We are looking for someone with the following:
- A Community Development qualification and/or at least 3 years' experience working within a community development or similar role, with responsibility for bringing about social change and improving quality of life
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop relationships which lead to actions
- Demonstrable experience within an integrated multi-disciplinary service
- Experience of engaging and working collaboratively with partners/stakeholders
About the Team
You will work as part of the Community Development team; this newly formed team will approach working in defined localities using an asset based community development approach. Together the Community Development Managers and the Community Builders will strengthen local communities using resources and networks that are readily available. You will generate income from these sources to contribute towards the 2024-25 fundraising target of £278,000, rising to £348,000 in 2025-26 in which you’ll have an individual target.

As Reporting & Management Accountant, you will provide strategic analysis to support and challenge our stakeholders in making the right decisions for our growing organisation. As part of our efforts to reach vulnerable people earlier, our corporate volunteers are delivering Financial Health Information Sessions in their local communities, signposting people to the housing advice they need.
In this role, you will work closely with our financial corporate partners including First Direct, to engage with their employees and support them into the role of Financial Health Volunteer to increase the number of people volunteering. Focusing on the Leeds area, you will forge relationships with local organisations to identify suitable host locations for the volunteers to deliver with. You will coordinate the sessions with the host locations, matching up volunteers with locations. You will ensure volunteers are motivated, supported to deliver, and feel connected with Shelter’s mission and valued for the part they play. Finally, you will take responsibility for collating feedback from the volunteers and host organisations, making suggestions for improvements and feeding into impact measurement.

The Estate Officer will ensure the delivery of the regional maintenance programme, comprising routine, periodic, planned and urgent works, and the delivery of time limited maintenance consultancy and estate management projects. Working alongside the Conservation Projects Manager, the post holder will ensure regional estate compliance with CCT policies.
The post holder will be the main contact for all maintenance related matters and will maintain the property management records for the estate, develop volunteer projects and training on maintenance reporting and conservation cleaning and will assist with fundraising.

You will also support young people to access the Criminal Justice System should they wish to do so, enabling them to stay safe and bringing perpetrators to justice.
The Postholder will be responsible for ensuring that young people on their caseload with varying needs are supported effectively throughout their pathway of support with Basis and partners, advocating for and with the young people you are working with. The worker will work with and adhere to relevant statutory and local frameworks and multi-agency partnerships relevant to the support of victims of Sexual Exploitation. The postholder will play a key role in advocating for improved responses to Sexual Exploitation and Transitional Safeguarding, working with the Service Delivery Manager and wider Basis Team in developing and promoting best practice for supporting young people with experience of Sexual Exploitation within and outside of the organisation.
