About You
The Policy and Engagement Manager is responsible for the development, delivery and evaluation of the Society’s growing policy and engagement programme.

This role will report to the Head of Engagement and Storytelling, with managerial responsibilties for the Policy and Engagement Officer, and will have responsibility for leading the development and coordination of key strategic policy and engagement activities, including progressing external scientific and higher education policy for the Society and promoting the importance of engaging in policy-making to members of the Society.

Suitable candidates will have experience in developing evidence-based policy, including in research, innovation and higher education policy. They will also have excellent communication and organisational skills, and the ability to manage and build effective relationships with key stakeholders engaging in the Society’s activities.

About the Role 

This exciting new role provides an excellent opportunity to help shape and deliver our approach to fundraising, helping to ensure that St Nicks can continue our vital work in supporting planet, people and nature.  As the sole fundraiser and reporting directly to the chief executive officer, you will be given the autonomy to shape and develop and deliver on all aspects of our unrestricted fundraising, building key relationships with existing and new supporters and maximising support from community, corporate and individual supporters.

Although fundraising in this sense is new to St Nicks, we have a strong foundation of existing supporters and partners which we can build our fundraising and relationships on.

Our Philanthropy team is responsible for engaging mid-value and major donors, as well as trusts and foundations. 

As Philanthropy Manager, you will be a vital part of the relationship management team, stewarding a mixed portfolio of donors, including individuals and trusts/foundations. You will cultivate and manage relationships with supporters typically giving five-figure gifts, with opportunities to secure six-figure donations. Through engaging conversations, impactful written proposals, and in-person meetings, you will inspire donors to invest in our mission and make a lasting difference for pets in need.

As an Events Co-ordinator, you will be responsible for the entire event lifecycle, from initial planning to post-event evaluation. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Planning, coordinating, and executing all aspects of fundraising events, including venue selection, logistics, budgeting, and marketing.  
• Managing event timelines, budgets, and vendor relationships to ensure seamless execution and cost-effectiveness.  
• Developing and implementing strategies to maximise event attendance and fundraising revenue.
• Ensuring all fundraising aligns with our charitable aims, fundraising approach and missional pillars (Souls, Israel, Revival).

PMRGCAuk is a small national charity dedicated to supporting people affected by polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) and giant cell arteritis (GCA). About the role

We’re looking to recruit a Philanthropy Manager to join our dynamic Philanthropy and Events team within our Supporter Income & Engagement directorate. The successful candidate will support the continued growth and development of the highly successful 2030 Circle - a giving club bringing together likeminded supporters around a shared goal: to help halt the loss of the natural world by 2030.

You will work with the Senior Philanthropy Manager to maintain and build long term, effective relationships with a range of philanthropic donors, including individuals, families, trusts, foundations and SMEs.

You will share our passion for protecting the future of our planet for people and nature and be skilled at inspiring supporters both in person and in writing. You will have responsibility for day-to-day communications with our highly engaged members and contribute to all aspects of our curated donor journey, from impact reporting to supporting a varied engagement and stewardship calendar of high-level events and field trips. You will also proactively drive growth in the giving club membership through effective data management, warm approaches, peer introductions and lead generation activity. You will work collaboratively with fundraisers and different teams across the organisation to ensure we maximise opportunities to enhance the experience and build support from 2030 Circle members.

We’re looking for someone with:

• Experience of managing a portfolio of trusts, foundations and individuals

• Experience of working with high-net-worth individuals.

• A track record of delivering against income targets.

• Demonstrable experience in identifying and tracking new funding opportunities.

• Experience of using fundraising databases/CRM systems.

• A good understanding of the philanthropic sector and of major giving clubs.

• Excellent communication, relationship building & interpersonal skills.
