The role

A key role in our Research team, the Research Projects Manager will be responsible for developing and managing our research projects and grants programme, in alignment with our new research strategy. As part of this, you will manage our genomics programme of research, which includes an exciting multi-stakeholder, international project, designed to understand barriers and opportunities to use of whole genome sequencing in low- and middle-income countries.

This role reports to the Director of Research.

Responsibilities

Research project management

• Manage our internally driven research projects including scoping, planning, designing, budgeting and reporting on activity to internal and external stakeholders.
• Liaise with research partners and funders on research project development and activity.
• Connect research projects to colleagues working on related activities in Insights and Policy, and Communications and Engagement.
• Brief Fundraising teams on research projects and progress.

Research grants

• Project Manage the launch of grants rounds and co-ordination of peer review procedures, in alignment with the UK Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC) requirements.
• Lead on the development and maintenance of all application, peer review and grant management procedures.
• Project Manage administering post award processing, monitoring, reporting and governance of successful grant applications.

Research collaboration

• Support the Director of Research to identify and respond to relevant meningitis research consultations in the UK and internationally.
• Work with Director of Research to identify, monitor and respond to developments in the UK and international research funding environment and help draft grant applications.
• Collaborate with Health Insights and Policy colleagues, to enable research to inform MRF’s policy positions.

Research strategy

• In collaboration with the Head of Research, support implementation of our research strategy.

Build an approach to strengthen involvement of those with lived experience in research

• Identify and develop opportunities for those with lived experience with MRF funded and externally funded research
• Work with the Director of Research to develop a Patient and Public Involvement strategy.

Qualifications & Experience

• A degree in relevant biomedical science or equivalent.
• Previous experience of performing peer review and grant management, ideally in line with Association of Medical Research Charity (AMRC) requirements.
• Strong knowledge of UK research funding environment.
• Demonstrable management skills or a professional project management qualification.

Summary

We are looking for a highly skilled Legacy Manager with demonstrated experience, preferably within the charity sector or comparable commercial environment. The role will involve primarily working from home and must be situated in or near London to attend regular in person meetings with key staff.

Key responsibilities

Take responsibility for a portfolio of around 300 legacy pledgers in order to deepen relationships and offer excellent stewardship to ensure that legacy pledgers feel valued by STUK and their pledge is retained.
Act as the first point of contact for legacy enquiries, both internal and external, responding with authority, sensitivity and diplomacy, so that legacy enquirers and intenders choose to leave STUK a gift in their Will.
Plan and deliver a programme of marketing and advertising to promote legacy giving and grow our pipeline of legacy supporters. This will include contributing to campaign strategy development; producing marketing materials including newsletters; and consulting with the Head of Individual Giving re legacy mailings.
Undertake general legacy communications including developing a tangible legacy vision, make phone calls, arrange one to one meetings and write personal notes/letters.
Organise at least 2 – 3 legacy events per year including post-event follow-up.
Organise legacy stewardship activities such as recognition mechanisms.
Liaise with and oversee the administrative work of Legacy Link, our legacy administrators.
Keep accurate and up-to-date records of all legacy activity on Salesforce and in shared files.
Provide useful data insight and analysis producing regular statistical, qualitative and financial reports of legacy activity.
Manage in memoriam marketing.

Travel

There is limited but regular travel into London for regular team meetings as well as periodic travel as needed around the UK for meetings with legacy pledgers and to organise legacy events.

Required Education and Experience

5+ years of relevant experience with exposure to legacy marketing and liaison with legacy enquirers, considerers and pledgers preferred.
A proven history of generating significant growth in key legacy metrics such as numbers of legacy enquirers and pledgers.
Demonstrated success in developing substantive donor relationships and in supporting senior management and programme staff, to execute donor and engagement strategies.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with both management and donors.
Extremely detail-oriented with strong organisational and time management skills.
Able to take ownership of a process and to use problem solving skills to resolve issues.
Able to make sound decisions based on analysis, experience and judgment.

Collaborating with a passionate team of 14 fundraisers, collectively raising approximately £11.3 million annually for Marie Curie, I will help drive meaningful results for this critical mission.

Main responsibilities:
My role will focus on the Regular Giving Team's core areas, including the supporter magazine, warm and cold telemarketing, supporter welcoming and thanking, donor journeys, and loyalty and upgrade initiatives. Through this, I will be central to delivering a robust stewardship program designed to engage, retain, and nurture supporters for long-term growth.

By partnering with internal stakeholders, including regional teams, you will lead the development and delivery of newsletters, oversee telemarketing campaigns for reactivation, upgrades, and retention across various donor programs, and ensure operational excellence. With a focus on analysing performance and optimizing strategies, my efforts will aim to strengthen supporter relationships and ensure the continued success of the program.

Summary

We are looking for a highly skilled Philanthropy Manager with demonstrated experience, preferably within the charity sector or comparable commercial environment. The role will involve primarily working from home and must be situated in or near London to attend regular in person meetings with key staff.

Key responsibilities

Maintain a portfolio of 50 – 70 major donors and prospects by creating and implementing strategies for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors with the capacity to make 5 and low 6-figure annual gifts (bigger gifts would fall to the Vice President, International Development and UK Fundraising Director)
Conduct 75 to 100 meetings with donors and prospects annually through one-on-one meetings, site visits, and other types of meaningful contact.
Provide recommendations and assist in executing effective strategies to practice moves management and increase fundraising results.
Write and create customised proposals and presentations for major donors.
In coordination with the UK Fundraising Director, assist with developing projects that will enhance the major giving operations of the Development Department and support them by developing strategy briefs and leading preparation meetings.
Help produce cultivation and stewardship programs for prospects and major donors.
Organise at least two major donor events each year.
Organising research on major donors as well as conducting supplemental research.
Ensure all key administrative tasks for the philanthropy programme are taken care of.
Other duties as are appropriate for this role.

Travel

Required Education and Experience

5+ years of relevant experience with exposure to major gift donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship processes preferred.

About Children Change Colombia

Children Change Colombia is a UK registered charity with 33 years' experience in defending children's rights in Colombia. Today we are the UK's largest charity working exclusively in Colombia. We work with children whose rights to a safe, happy childhood, and a fulfilling future, are threatened by poverty, inequality and violence. We work with the children most at risk, to keep them safe and defend their rights in the long term, to tackle neglected issues that few others address and to strengthen children's organisations.

Through local partnerships, we currently work on three neglected issues:

• Sexual and gender-based violence 

• Access to education

• Forced recruitment into armed groups and reintegration into society

We believe that, with knowledge of their rights and the confidence to assert them, children can transform their own lives, their communities and Colombia itself.

We are a small and lively organisation and you will quickly become an essential part of our friendly team, involved in all areas of discussion and supporting the many areas of our work. Since 2020, we have tripled the number of beneficiaries and doubled our number of projects, geographical areas of work, and annual income —all while keeping administrative costs low.

In 2024 alone, our programs positively impacted the lives of 4,320 children and 1,920 adults in Colombia, plus 126 children from London, and their families. We also conducted three workshops with our local partners - online and in person - as part of our capacity-building programme. In 2024 we supported 7 local grassroots organisations with 11 different projects.

Purpose of the role:

• To keep the Executive Director and Trustees informed on the charity’s financial status through the production of management accounts and other financial reports 

• To introduce and supervise the implementation of systems, procedures and controls to ensure the smooth running of the charity’s finances and maximise accountability.

• To ensure that Children Change Colombia complies with its statutory obligations – specifically those relating to Charity Commission, Companie House and Inland Revenue.

• To work closely with the Executive Director to help run CCC.

Key Financial responsibilities

UK Finance:

• Prepare annual consolidated statutory accounts, guaranteeing compliance with SORP requirements, liaising with external examiners, consolidating with Colombian accounts.

• Prepare monthly management accounts, regular analytical reports on budget performance and cash flow forecasts for Executive Director (ED), Trustees and Treasurer at Finance Committee meetings, highlighting any specific areas of concern.

• Attend Finance Committee and Board meetings.

• Check and authorise bank payments and transfers in the UK office.

• Data input into Quickbooks of all accounting transactions, monthly reconciliation of 10 UK bank accounts, plus all balance sheet accounts. Keep the chart of accounts up-to-date, create new income or expenditure accounts and restricted funds when necessary, and ensure these correspond correctly with live projects.

• Run the monthly payroll & pension process.

• Maintain procedures and financial controls, ensuring their compliance with Charity Commission and Companies House guidelines and guaranteeing their application by Fundraising and Project Management teams.

• Coordinate production of the annual income and expenditure budgets (full budget and unrestricted budget). Enter these onto Quickbooks, to allow Actuals v Budget reports to be run from Quickbooks. Also create a mid-year re-forecast.

• Process grant transfers to the Colombia Office, to ensure project funds and Colombian operating costs are cash flowed in a timely manner.

• Oversee financial reporting for statutory and large funding sources.

• Prepare and submit Gift-Aid returns. Enter Gift Aid declarations onto the database.

• Update Finance Manuals for the London office and the Colombia Office annually.

• Provide guidance and financial information as requested by all.

• Liaise with Programmes regarding our partners & their accounts i.e. their financial health.

• Assist with funding applications, project budgets & financial reporting to funders.

• Download and code monthly fundraising reports for all online income platforms (including CAF, Donorbox, JustGiving, Benevity, Stewardship, Facebook) and Payroll Giving platforms (including Charitable Giving, Charities Trust). Code into Quickbooks.

• Process all cheques received into the office by scanning, coding and depositing into the bank; and compile a list of donors to be thanked.

• Maintain the list of Major Donors.

• Maintain the Newsletter income analysis document.

• Annually recalculate the Reserves traffic light values for monitoring unrestricted reserves.

• Monitor Treasury management under the approval of the Treasurer, manage savings accounts, open new savings accounts when needed, ensure funds are held within the Financial Services Compensation Scheme safety levels.

Colombia Finance

• In collaboration with JGS (our Colombian accounting firm) process and approve all Colombian payments to partners, suppliers, core staff and project staff.

• Ensure supporting documents are provided for all Colombian expenditure and file on the drive accordingly.

• Enter all Colombian financial transactions onto Quickbooks using the correct exchange rates, and ensure details match those recorded by JGS in Siigo Nube.

• Monitor expenditure in Colombia against the Colombia office budget and project budgets.

• Reconcile 2 Colombian Bank accounts and 1 Colombian credit card on a monthly basis.

• Consolidate Colombian annual accounts into CCC’s UK consolidated annual accounts.

The Centre for Deaf and Hard of Hearing People (CfD) is a registered small-sized charity that delivers a wide range of services including community development and assistive equipment services to people in Bristol who are Deaf, hard of hearing or deafened. As our mission statement says, we are working toward creating a Bristol “where everyone can participate in all aspects of life in the city, whatever their level of hearing”.

CfD challenges the prejudice and barriers that Deaf and hard of hearing people face in their daily lives. We are developing exciting new plans for activities that will contribute to our aims and promote equality for all deaf people. 

CfD is seeking a Manager to run our Equipment Service, contribute to projects and support our CEO as we move forward with our new plans. The post-holder will be based at the Vassall Centre, Gill Ave, Fishponds, Bristol, BS16 2QQ.

This is an exciting opportunity to help CfD grow. You will manage our Equipment Service for Deaf and hard of hearing people, with a focus on developing the scope and reach of the service. You will also contribute to a portfolio of projects and support the CEO by managing staff and leading on areas of work such as HR and Health and Safety. Summary of duties:

Equipment Service

The Manager will oversee the running of the Equipment Service, managing the two Equipment Officers and the two CfD Administrators, as well as being responsible for the Resource Room. You will also be responsible for the marketing of the Equipment Service, developing the existing marketing strategy and implementing your new approach. This part of your role will take 20 hours a week.

The Manager will also be responsible for developing the Equipment Service so that we reach more people, make more use of Bluetooth technology and offer more support to existing clients. This part of your role will take 7 hours a week.

The role may develop to include spending some time as an Equipment Officer, visiting clients, making assessments and providing equipment to clients. Training will be provided for this part of the role.

Equipment Service – Further Information:

The aim of the Equipment Service is to make sure that clients get the equipment they need and are confident in using it.  We support clients to be independent by helping to remove some of the barriers they face because of their hearing loss.

The Deaf Equipment Service is contracted to CfD by Bristol City Council. CfD has run the Equipment Service for Deaf and hard of hearing people for over 10 years. Our Equipment Officers make pre-arranged visits to the homes of Deaf, deafblind and hard of hearing people within the city of Bristol. We carry out assessments to find out what clients need and then supply the equipment (usually free of charge), provide training so clients know how to use it and support clients if they need repairs or replacement equipment. Every year we work with around 400 clients. The equipment we supply includes TV listening devices, flashing doorbells, amplified telephones and personal listeners. We are developing an outreach programme to try and reach as many deaf people in Bristol as we can.

As the Manager of the Equipment Service, your main tasks will be:

1. Manage, maintain, and improve the Equipment Service to make sure all KPIs are met.

2. Manage the Equipment Service budget and make sure all activities are delivered within budget.

3. Manage the two part-time Equipment Officers and the two CfD Administrators, including conducting supervisions, and chairing team meetings.

4. Develop and implement the marketing strategy for the Equipment Service so that the service expands to meet our new targets.

The Fundraising Events Team is a passionate team of specialists responsible for creating and delivering a combination of income generating and engagement events. We generate valuable funds through a portfolio of fundraising dinners, golf days, a clay shoot and other events; and deliver a range of engagement opportunities for the Philanthropy & Major Giving and Corporate Partnership teams to attract, retain and thank our supporters. The Fundraising Events team plays a significant role in supporting income generation across the wider Fundraising Team.

As an events manager, you will be responsible for the delivery of an annual portfolio of events that inspire, motivate, and develop support for the charity. You will be responsible for ensuring high quality stewardship opportunities and maximising income potential from fundraising activities.

You will collaborate closely with colleagues across the Corporate Partnerships and Philanthropy & Major Gifts teams to ensure we are delivering great experiences for our supporters.

Your key accountabilities include:

• Project managing and delivering events from conception through to completion, ensuring events achieve the agreed KPIs and ROI.
• Leading on all details of the event production (including guest and supplier management, production of printed materials, briefings, sourcing and managing of prizes for fundraising events, supplier liaison etc)
• Responsible for budget management and accountable for achieving financial targets of agreed events.
• Develop relationships with key event suppliers and manage partnerships, including fundraising committees, to achieve the best possible outcomes for the charity.
• Work as an active member of the Fundraising Events team, feeding into wider team plans and working across the Fundraising team to deliver joint projects.

We’re looking for someone with

• Demonstrable experience of delivering and managing successful fundraising or profit-making events. 
• Experience of budget setting, budget management and delivering an efficient return on investment.
• Ability to create and deliver operational plans, with an eye on the bigger picture, as well as operational detail. 
• Experience of successfully working to deadlines and targets. 
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders both internally and externally.  

• Experience of working with a customer relationship management (CRM) database.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders both internally and externally.
• Knowledge or Experience in donor stewardship, dealing with a range of different charity supporters.
• Knowledge or Experience in dealing with external suppliers with the ability to negotiate well.
• Excellent administrative and organisational skills, presentation and report writing skills.

Due to the nature of the role, you will be flexible with regular travel, evening work and occasional overnight stays within the UK.

**The geographical allowance payable on top of the pay rate for staff member having a home or office-based postcode within 30 miles (as the crow flies) from Charing Cross, WC2N 5HS. The allowance is 7% capped at £4,000 (pro rata) per annum.
