About this job

We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced individual with experience in project management who also loves working directly with the people we support. The ability to communicate to a wide range of audiences and deliver the project objectives will be essential for this role.

This is a ‘time-limited’ ‘test and learn’ externally funded project. The ‘Community Connections project’ – will help people living with and affected by MS to navigate support services ensuring that they have access to the support they require, at the time of their choice, and is delivered in a way that best suits their individual needs.

This is a fixed-term project until March 2026.This is a full time role comprising of 35 hours per week.

This role is specifically focused on South West England and will require extensive travel to regions such as Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Bristol, Gloucestershire, and Wiltshire. Home working will be considered for applicants residing outside these regions.

Working closely with people affected by MS, Key external partners, our funder Wales and West Utilities, the Service and Support Team, the Cymru Director, and the wider MS Society teams. You will be outcome-focused and deliver tangible results. You will need to forge strong partnerships with key stakeholders and represent the MS Society at key meetings and events in the project area.

This role can be based anywhere in Wales but there will be an expectation of travel throughout Wales and the project area (Wales, Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Bristol, Gloucestershire, and Wiltshire), the ability to speak Welsh is desirable.

Job Title: Experienced Associate Independent Investigating Officers (IOs) for Stage 2 Complaints (This role sits within our Independent Person for Complaints (IPC) service)

Contract: Associate

Hours: Variable, according to demand for services/caseload and role in investigation

Salary: £25.25 per hour (50% professional rate for travel plus expenses)

Location: Associate Independent Investigating Officers for Complaints primarily work from home. Some travel may be required as part of an investigation – location will vary according to the referral received from the Local Authority. We are seeking additional experienced Associate Independent Investigating Officers (IO) for Complaints, to increase our capacity to respond to referrals from Local Authorities to provide an independent element to the formal Stage 2 investigations under the Children Act 1989.

The IO will lead investigations, and will give the complainant (who may be a child, young person or adult) the opportunity to express their view, ensure the child or young person’s rights and best interests are at the centre of the investigation and that the investigation/review process is open and transparent. They write a report on the investigation/review, which is submitted to the referring agency.

The Job Description document sets out the expectations for an Associate Independent Person for Complaints (IPC) who is approved by Coram Voice. IPCs are independent, freelance and responsible for their own work. Nevertheless, IPCs are accountable to the organisation for their professional standards and are expected to comply with Coram Voice Code of Ethics and Practice Guidelines.

Please Note: the nature of associate work means that we cannot guarantee a regular amount of work, and complaints will be allocated dependent on the associate’s availability, location and the needs and demands of the individual case. We are looking for a part time Information & Advocacy Community Support Worker in Scotland.  You will be home based living in the North of Scotland.

You will ensure that service users (children and adults) and their families, receive high quality support, from the point of diagnosis and throughout their journey, and will assist them to access funding, equipment and care and support that they are entitled to. You will join a team that makes a real difference to the lives of the people living with muscle-wasting conditions, and their families, in Scotland. The role will be primarily home based, but there will also be a requirement to attend outpatient clinics within the region, attend home visits where appropriate and to support responding to queries through the helpline and information inbox. Some travel will be required to attend meetings and events outside of Scotland. You will work with both statutory and voluntary organisations, clinicians, and health and social care professionals to ensure that people living with muscle wasting conditions get the care and support they need to live well and independently.

Working closely with the prison and their staff, people in prison, Shannon Trust volunteers and mentors, this post will lead the delivery and development of our prison based reading and numeracy programme, maximising opportunities for people in prison to learn to read.

Ideally you will have some experience of prison settings underpinned by the ability to build relationships and personal qualities that include resilience, determination and a problem-solving approach.

This role is essential for the RSPCA to further safeguard sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife and achieve the RSPCA's objective of securing better legal protection for wildlife in animal welfare establishments (wildlife rescue and rehabilitation centres). 

Currently, anyone can set up a rescue/rehabilitation centre or sanctuary with no oversight. This can lead to these establishments becoming overwhelmed despite good intentions. 

This role will develop and implement an advocacy strategy to achieve statutory regulation of these facilities, to protect the welfare of wild animals. 

The post-holder will work closely with the Veterinary and Operations teams to ensure the RSPCA's rescue and rehabilitation standards are based on the latest scientific evidence.

This role will achieve measurable improvements in welfare standards and legal protections, reinforce the RSPCA's commitment to leading positive change and strengthen the Society's position as an influential leader in this field.

This role is being offered as a 24 month fixed term contract. We are open to flexible working options, such as part time hours and the role will be offered on a hybrid working basis; working from home and from our London and or Horsham office.

What makes a great Senior Scientific Officer- Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation?

To succeed within this role, it is essential that you have proven experience of liaising with civil servants, MPs and other members of the government. 

You must have strong communication skills and the ability to juggle conflicting priorities, along with a strong background of working within policy.

CAFOD, one of the 15 member agencies that make up the Disasters Emergency Committee, is the official aid agency of the Catholic Church in England and Wales and stands alongside vulnerable communities across Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East.

CAFOD is seeking a Governance Manager to temporarily support our Leadership & Governance team. Reporting directly to CAFOD’s Director and managing the Leadership & Governance Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring effective governance, strategic leadership, and strong Trustee relations during this interim period. This is a part-time position requiring two days of commitment per week for approximately six months.

Key Responsibilities

During the period of cover, some of the key responsibilities include:  

Governance & Strategic Leadership 

• Providing oversight of CAFOD’s Governance work & assisting in the further development and funding of CAFOD’s governance. 

• Identify emerging trends in governance and ensure that learning is reflected in CAFOD’s work and proposals. 

• Working with the relative department heads to advise the Leadership Team on the likely impact of new initiatives on CAFOD’s current strategy.

• Ensuring CAFOD’s work is in line with Charity Commission requirements and ethical standards are maintained.

 Engagement & Reporting  

• With the Leadership and Governance Officer and L&G Assistant, to support the Director of CAFOD in managing the relationship between the Board of Trustees and Leadership Team. 

• Ensure that all aspects of the Leadership Team and Board meetings are organised and conducted effectively in line with CAFOD’s governance principles. 

• Providing strategic guidance and support to CAFOD’s Trustees and Leadership Team 

• Developing a plan for the production of CAFOD’s Annual Trustees Report, and project manage its delivery.

• Assist with the external communication of CAFOD’s governance work with key donors and supporters.

Team Leadership  

• Providing management/mentoring to the Leadership & Governance Assistant where applicable.

• Working with the Leadership & Governance Officer in planning a governance work programme for 2025. 

• Provide guidance and oversight of all critical projects and support the team to deliver its objectives on time and to budget. 

• Overseeing the recruitment and induction of trustees to CAFOD’s Board.

We have a job vacancy for a Dementia Specialist to join Shine as the Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH) / Dementia Coordinator. 

Shine has a membership of over 14,000 members living with Spina Bifida and/or Hydrocephalus and associated conditions and over 6,500 associated members.

In the last year we have seen a 25% increase in members who are living with Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH) across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
