We are hiring! We have a job vacancy for an Early Intervention Project Worker to join Shine.

Shine has a membership of over 14,000 members living with Spina Bifida and/or Hydrocephalus and associated conditions and over 6,500 associated members.

Our Little Stars project for 0–12-year-olds has been established for over 5 years supporting younger members and their families with their diagnosis and beyond. We also have a growing Teen membership known as FIRE (Friendship, Independence, Resilience, Equality) Working alongside our multi skilled, established team, you will be supporting members across all age groups and building on the great foundations already in place. 

We are looking for an Early Intervention Project Worker who can cover the South of England, primarily you will be home based, supporting members through phone calls and using online platforms.  You will be required to attend clinics, events and meet members one to one where necessary within your allocated area and occasionally across wider areas and nationally. 

Purpose of the role 

• To deliver Shine's Little Stars (funded by The National Lottery Community Fund) project for 0–12-year-olds, supporting early years and younger members with their families, their diagnosis and beyond across the Southern Region. To provide advice, support and guidance to enable people with Spina Bifida and/or Hydrocephalus to access the correct benefits to become financially stable, the right services to improve their health and well-being, and to better co-ordinate their support and independence through a variety of methods. 

• To improve the life wellbeing of children 0-12 years old with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus by promoting independence and providing them and their families with early intervention support. 

• To create a community whereby those affected by spina bifida and hydrocephalus can connect with others, are empowered through knowledge and feel confident in the support networks surrounding them.

Community Education Officer - Liverpool (2 days or 4 days per week)

Reporting to: Senior Project Manager

Salary: £24,375 per annum, pro rata (£9,750 per annum for 2 days per week, or, £19,500 per annum for 4 days per week)

ABOUT THE ROLE 

The Community Education Officer plays an important role in both collaborating with communities to take part in shared learning and disseminating findings to wider audiences throughout the project, informing how it develops and boosting its impact. You will work in partnership with individuals and their communities, under the supervision of the Senior Project Manager as part of the education and advocacy programme. This will include cooperative identification of changes to the food system in Knowsley in the last century, engaging project participants in discussing those changes and raising awareness to wider audiences, supporting the project to achieve its aim of creating a shared understanding and celebrating Knowsley’s heritage and influencing strategies to shape the future of the borough, through sustained, quality engagement. You will support the Community Research Coordinator to capture qualitative and quantitative data that will inform reporting and contribute project monitoring and evaluation, participant outcomes and signposting groups & individuals to project activities with the aim of improving community participation & influence in our work.

The post holder will need to be proactive, working both independently and as part of a team, whilst managing and prioritising a busy workload.

The main strategic aims this role is responsible for:

Aim 8: FAIR ACCESS TO GOOD FOOD  

By the end of 2025, low-income communities in the UK will have secure, dignified access to nutritious food with low environmental impact, challenging the supermarket redistribution and food bank model

Aim 9: COMMUNITY-ANCHORED FOOD ECONOMIES  

By the end of 2025, regional, participatory, celebratory food economies anchored in place and community will grow, challenging the corporate food model.

Key Responsibilities 

• Primary responsibility for leading the collaborative learning process with community stakeholders in Knowsley (e.g., community groups, local schools).
• Work with individuals, groups and communities to explore the food and farming heritage of Knowsley, creating a shared understanding of what came before Knowsley’s establishment as a Metropolitan Borough.
• Contribution towards the planning and execution of events and workshops in Knowsley in collaboration with the team at Feedback and key community stakeholders.
• Primary responsibility for creating educational resources from information obtained through delivery of Feedback Global’s Heritage Lottery Fund Project, to be utilised throughout this project and in future.
• Working alongside the project delivery team you will work to capture stories and knowledge about residents’ experiences of growing, producing and consuming local or seasonal food.
• Celebrate Knowsley and its heritage through the creation of projects and workshops in collaboration with key stakeholders.
• Create educational resources from information obtained considering the present and future possibilities.
• Capture stories and knowledge about residents’ experiences of growing, producing and consuming local or seasonal food over time.
• Work closely with stakeholders to reach project outcomes
• Produce tangible solutions to issues Knowsley faces
• Use information obtained for advocacy and campaigns to benefit neighbourhoods, change that improves land use, access to fresh locally produced food and creates upskilling and employment opportunities.

• Collate a multitude of existing heritage materials whilst adding dialogue from living residents.
• Assist with the recruitment and ongoing communication between community curators.

Title: Senior Administrative Manager

Location: Haywards Heath, with a preference for 1-2 days per week in the office       

Contract: Three-year fixed term contract

About the role

The primary purpose of the Senior Administrative Manager will be to support the NTD (Neglected Tropical Disease) Department in functioning effectively and efficiently. This role involves coordinating administrative and support systems, procedures, and sub-teams essential for the management of the NTD portfolio.

Background

Sightsavers’ NTD directorate oversees projects funded by various donors to control and eliminate five PC-NTDs: onchocerciasis, lymphatic filariasis, trachoma, schistosomiasis, and soil-transmitted helminths in 28 countries. These projects are executed by country office teams, ministries of health, and partners, with operational and technical support from the NTD Department.

Principal Accountabilities 

• Oversee the creation and renewal of requested consultancy agreements with Human Resources, ensuring appropriate procedures are followed and records are kept updated.
• Manage the contractual organisation of the team of internationally located technical consultants and work with the relevant Global Disease Advisor to coordinate all aspects of support missions undertaken by the them 
• Ensure professional meeting support for all external NTD meetings with donors and international partners as requested by the NTD SMT.  This includes logistics, room bookings, agendas, slides, recording, virtual participation where required and minute documentation and distribution. 

• Assemble information as required for presentations, communications and reports, and manage internal document storage systems (Microsoft SharePoint and Teams). 

• Support the Grant Directors and IFT to compile key donor milestone reports and ensure a fully functional and accessible external ShareFile system for key donor groups where required

• Support communications both within the NTD Department team and with external stakeholders through dissemination of newsletters and maintaining contact lists. 

• Using all members of the admin team, coordinate the support for all regular internal PDU calls (recurring invites, agenda sharing and minute taking).

• Provide travel support to the SMT and Grant Directors where requested. 

• Manage/supervise NTD Dept Coordinator

• Undertake additional ad-hoc administrative duties as required.

About the Role

We are looking for an outstanding Institutional Programme Funding Principal to lead our institutional fundraising efforts. This role is critical in shaping and implementing our funding strategy, ensuring we secure and manage large-scale grants that drive our global mission forward. You will be responsible for developing high-quality funding applications, managing relationships with key institutional donors, and ensuring compliance with all funding requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the development and implementation of the institutional programme funding strategy, coordinating applications, partnerships, and reporting processes.
• Research and cultivate new institutional funding opportunities globally (e.g., FCDO, USAID, NORAD, J/TIP).
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to design projects aligned with our global and country strategies.
• Produce high-quality, high-value funding applications, including proposals, budgets, Gantt charts, and monitoring plans.
• Negotiate grant agreements and ensure compliance with institutional donor requirements.
• Manage relationships with institutional funders, ensuring timely and comprehensive reporting.
• Support fundraising team members on large trust and foundation grant applications.

Blue Ventures is a marine conservation organization that puts people first. We support coastal fishers in remote and rural communities to rebuild fisheries, restore ocean life and build lasting pathways to prosperity. Our work began two decades ago in Madagascar’s remote coastal communities and is growing globally.

We bring partners together in networks to advocate for reform, and share tools and best practices to support fishing communities across the globe. 

Summary job description

Our Technical Knowledge team oversees Blue Ventures’ technical pillars (Secure Rights, Community-Based Fisheries Management, Food Security and Financial Inclusion) and supports the use of data for decision making, providing tools, training, and guidance to partners and Blue Ventures’ staff around the world. This team integrates expertise and deep practical experience with pragmatism and a desire to enable others to deliver lasting change, by distilling global best practices and knowledge into usable tools, appropriate training, and responsive guidance and support. The team is also responsible for delivering peer learning exchanges and knowledge sharing events both online and face to face across the organisation in addition to overseeing technical publications.

We are currently recruiting for an exceptional individual to be part of this global team, leading a critical pillar of the strategy on Food Security. This individual will oversee the Food Security function, including the development, refinement, and roll out of tools and training to support partners around the world as they establish initiatives targeting fish production, availability and affordability, to promote nutrition, food security and financial returns of fishers through assessments of the nutritional value of key fisheries, sustainable fisheries management, waste reduction initiatives, and interventions that increase the economic and nutritional value, as well as durability, of fish catch. These types of tools and materials include:

- Accessible tools and appropriate technologies:

Intuitive to use and readily available, including software and mobile apps for data collection and interpretation, simple decision support tools for assessment, planning, and problem resolution, and community-level materials for common activities, such as meeting facilitation guides or decision-making tools to help communities decide which fish and fisheries to focus management attention on.

- Training resources:

Manuals, guides, videos, and online materials that provide concise information and serve as self-learning tools, allowing partners to access and acquire knowledge at their own pace.

- Knowledge development:

Structured learning experiences to transfer theory to practise and enhance the background knowledge and competencies such as workshops or webinars, as well as development of good practice technical case studies and publications.

- Skill development:

Specific hands-on training, mentoring, or peer learning exchange programmes to enhance technical expertise and the skills that are relevant to the context of each pillar.

As a Global Head, the position oversees regional and national colleagues to produce and iteratively improve the technical support, ensuring globally consistent guidance, while enabling context-specific differentiation among regions. The ability to work in a diverse and geographically dispersed team and to liaise and adapt techniques across different cultures will therefore be essential. As a Global Head and part of the Technical Knowledge team, the position strives for Blue Ventures’ work to be at the forefront of best practice in the sector, by learning from partners and practitioners worldwide to distil learning and experience into usable practical approaches to address the common barriers to achieving coastal fisheries reform with a strong believe in placing communities at the centre of decision making.

The Blue Ventures Technical Knowledge team has a unique vantage point, gained through supporting dozens of partners working with hundreds of communities across South East Asia, the Western Indian Ocean, West Africa, and the Caribbean as well as being part of international fora and members of expert panels. As such our technical team plays a key role in identifying, collating, sharing, and transferring key insights and successful approaches, updating information, training, tools, and guidance around the world, and building a community of practice around each of the pillar themes.

The Global Head - Food Security will have a strong understanding and technical experience of food security and nutrition programmes in coastal fishing communities and initiatives to reduce losses in catch value (both nutritional and financial), with proven skills in coaching and team building skills and effective management capacity in leading a multi-disciplinary team and working cross-functionally.

Blue Ventures recognises the key roles that women play in fisheries management and conservation as fishers, gleaners, processors, sellers and negotiators and seeks to highlight the important value of their roles in the fisheries value chain, that are often invisible, so that they also benefit. An understanding of the challenges faced particularly by women in fisheries and experience of working in communities to find some practical solutions desirable for this role. The role will work in close collaboration with the Global Technical Knowledge team to support these goals, which includes working with fisher associations and committees to increase the participation of women in leadership and decision-making.

The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the complex challenges facing tropical coastal fisheries and the small-scale fishing communities that depend on them. They will have extensive, practical experience of working with coastal communities in Africa, Asia, or Central America, and partnering with civil society organisations, non-governmental organisations, government institutions, and other stakeholders to identify and address fishing issues, placing communities at the heart of the solution.

The successful candidate will thrive in environments that are dynamic, fast-paced, collegiate, and ambitious, will have a proven track record in distilling complexity into easily interpretable material, able to deliver high-impact written work, and in communicating effectively with diverse audiences, ranging from fishing communities, practitioners, academic institutions, governments, the private sector, and other technical experts. They will feel comfortable representing the organisation externally.

The role entails leading an interdisciplinary and international team, with strong cross-functional collaboration. The successful candidate will report to the Director of Technical Knowledge and will be based in one of our regional hubs, with regular overseas travel to work with partners and field teams around the world.

The core technical scope of the role’s portfolio will include:

- Data-driven assessments and interventions to improve food security and nutrition for healthy and resilient fishing communities, including nutrition education and supporting nutrition-sensitive fisheries management measures;

- Interventions to improve nutrition and financial returns for fishers operating in low-resource, data-limited fisheries, including through improved fishing techniques, transport, storing, processing, and marketing;

World Obesity Federation is seeking a Campaigns and Membership Coordinator to join their team. 

World Obesity Federation (WOF) is a worldwide federation with over 100 members and takes a holistic view of obesity from cause and prevention to treatment. WOF is a lead partner to global agencies on obesity, including WHO, and a member of the Global Obesity Coalition.

This position will lead on member communications and management, as well as the campaign management for World Obesity Day. Main responsibilities will include managing the day to day membership provision for the organisation, acting as Project Manager for World Obesity Day, leading on campaign resource development, liaising with members and chairing the Global Advisory Group.

The Campiagns and Membership Coordinator will join the Communications Team.
