As our new Policy & Public Affairs Officer, you will play a key role in tracking policy developments, engaging with stakeholders, and supporting NYA’s public affairs work. This role works within our Policy, Insights, and External Affairs Directorate, reporting directly to the Policy & Public Affairs Manager. Your work in this role will directly contribute to NYA’s mission to champion high-quality youth work across England.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research and monitor policy developments, parliamentary activity, and government announcements to inform NYA’s advocacy efforts.
- Develop policy briefings, reports, consultation responses, and stakeholder communications to support NYA’s policy and public affairs work.
- Build and maintain relationships with policymakers, public affairs contacts, and key stakeholders, ensuring effective collaboration and engagement.
- Support youth participation initiatives, helping young people contribute to policy discussions and decision-making.
- Assist in organising and attending policy forums, roundtables, and public affairs events to represent NYA and strengthen its influence.

We’re looking for someone who has:
- At least 2 years’ experience in policy or public affairs within a charity, government, or think tank, with strong knowledge of UK policy processes and Westminster.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to conduct research, analyse data, and present findings clearly to diverse stakeholders.
- Strong time-management skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and familiarity with project management tools.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while building strong relationships with colleagues and external partners.
- A passion for policy and public affairs, highly motivated, and a commitment to NYA’s mission and values.

Managing the work of the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Parents.
- Developing a plan for the APPG to achieve our ambition of making this one of the most high profile APPGs in Parliament.

The Policy and Public Affairs Manager (Wellbeing and Mental Health) is a high-profile role, both internally and externally. You will be setting the direction for our organisational influencing on young people's wellbeing and mental health. The role will draw on the insights from The Children's Society's extensive service delivery portfolio, alongside active listening of young people to formulate and deliver political influencing strategies. You will be identifying new opportunities for influence and systemic change and developing innovative ways to be able to better advocate with national and local government stakeholders. You will also need to be a confident speaker to act as a spokesperson with media and represent the organisation in external engagements.
This portfolio covers a broad spectrum of wellbeing and mental health. It is a critical role in delivering the organisational aim of overturning the damaging decline in children's wellbeing by 2030. We have a rich history of both delivering direct support to young people for their wellbeing and mental health needs, such as drop-in hubs, and advocating for political change to improve young people's wellbeing.
We are looking for a talented and ambitious manager to build on this rich history, scanning the external environment and working with our services to ambitiously build on our current work, and further enhance our wellbeing and mental health policy portfolio.
As part of this role, you will be responsible for leading and managing the wellbeing and mental health portfolio. This will include setting out the strategic focuses for this area, identifying policy priorities to produce proactive policy and influencing work, and reacting to external events and opportunities. This role will sit within our Policy, Advocacy and Influencing Knowledge Group, reporting to the Director and working alongside fellow Policy & Public Affairs Managers, the Campaigns team and Policy and Public Affairs Officers who work across all three strategic portfolios, with direct line management of one of these Officers.
The individual in this role will be able to utilise multiple techniques and approaches to instigate policy change, including building relationships for the purpose of private influencing, being informed by insight and research to raise awareness of emerging challenges, and to lead related Parliamentary and campaigns activity. As a specialist in the Policy, Advocacy and Influencing Knowledge Group, the role will be instrumental in designing methods to measure the impact of our work and proactively record the impact of our organisational work in this area.
Key responsibilities will be to:
-Lead the policy and public affairs portfolio for wellbeing and mental health, ensuring the production of reasoned arguments on policies affecting children and young people that influence national and local decision makers.
-Lead the development of policy, political influence and strategic partnerships within the portfolio through fostering external and internal relationships that facilitate collaboration, knowledge sharing and influence aligned to organisational priorities.
-Develop policy recommendations that fit the strategic goal, are in the best interest of and ambitious for children, and are inclusive, evidence based and promote social justice and consider inequalities.
-Create opportunities for young people, parent/carers and practitioners to have their voices heard by decision makers to inform policy direction and systems change.
-Provide the evidence to help set the direction for organisational campaigns and external facing activity in relation to wellbeing and mental health, including leading on policy related research projects within the portfolio.
-Direct line management and team group leadership, delivering specific projects and workstreams and contributing to the development of the Policy, Advocacy and Influencing Knowledge Group.

About the role
Agenda’s Research and Evidence Officer will play a key role in our data, evidence and research and workstreams.
They will design, hold and deliver research projects; centre women and girls’ voices through coproduction; share evidence and insights with the wider team, trustees, and funders; and produce a range of materials, including reports and briefings, for different kinds of external audiences.
They will gather a range of evidence through data collection and desk-based research, and carry out research, using interviews, focus groups and data analysis as well as less-traditional research methods.
Responsibilities include:
- Conduct desk-based, primary, secondary, qualitative and quantitative research, including; submitting Freedom of Information requests; analysing data and evidence from a range of sources; conducting interviews and focus groups; and other evidence gathering as necessary to develop clear cases for change across the issues Agenda Alliance works on.
- Design and maintain systems, project plans and research methodologies to develop evidence across Agenda’s priority areas, centring voices of women and girls with lived experience of the areas we work on, and the expertise of Alliance members.
- Produce engaging ways of sharing Agenda’s learning and communicating research findings, including through writing reports and briefings, and providing other members of the team with evidence and insights for their work, including the Communications and Campaigns Coordinator, and the Policy and Public Affairs Officer.
- Grow and maintain relationships with a network of organisations, practitioners and experts, including systems of engagement and intelligence gathering (e.g. online, focus groups, roundtables, project visits).
- Work closely with the rest of the team to develop evidence to inform Agenda’s policy positions, campaigns and influencing.

- Work with the wider team to embed and utilise effective monitoring and impact evaluation processes for our research activities.

We’re seeking someone who can demonstrate compassionate, person-centred research skills, an ability to understand and analyse quantitative and qualitative data, and an appetite for designing new projects and processes to uncover evidence and insights.
This is an exciting and varied role, providing the right candidate with a unique blend of in-depth research; using evidence to inform policy-influencing and campaigns; and engaging experts by experience. It is ideal for someone who has experience of research and data analysis, but is interested in centering the lived experience of women and girls, alongside the front-line experience of our members, to develop insights for change.

Waverley Care is Scotland’s leading HIV and Hepatitis C charity, and we are looking for a Policy & Communications Officer for an initial six-month contract. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of policy development and advocacy, ensuring Scotland remains on track to achieve zero new HIV transmission by 2030.
As the Policy & Communications Officer, you’ll be instrumental in shaping and delivering policy initiatives that support the Scottish Government’s commitments to ending HIV stigma and improving the lives of those living with HIV.
You will work proactively across the charity to ensure consistent policy messages and to inform influencing activities by producing briefings, consultation responses, and other communications content.
You will:
· Build and maintain strong relationships with MSPs, civil servants, and key stakeholders to drive Scotland’s progress toward eliminating Hepatitis C and achieving zero new HIV transmission by 2030.
· Produce high-quality internal and external briefings, consultation responses, press releases, media statements, social media posts and online content that align with Waverley Care’s policy positions.
· Represent Waverley Care at events, meetings, and networks, actively advancing the organisation’s policy objectives and supporting the Fast-Track Cities Scotland initiative.
· Plan and coordinate National Consortium meetings, including setting agendas, securing speakers, and taking minutes.
· Maintain and update databases of contacts and activities, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of policy and public affairs work, including compliance with Scotland’s Lobbying Register.
