The pathway is designed to support residents and participants in the Havering Borough to reintegrate back into the community and prepare for independent living. This role would be a floating officer based in the Havering borough supporting across the numerous services providing Intensive Housing management support. 

Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, 9:00AM -17:00PM or 13:00PM - 21:00PM Monday - Sunday, Onsite. 

Salary: £26,100

Job Title: Head of Maintenance and Estates

Location: Central Office based in Islington, N1 1TY (approx. 10 minute walk from Highbury and Islington station). The role is mixed hybrid including 3 days in the office and 2 days from home, including regular service visits to any of our sites. About the role

Reporting to the Director of Housing, we are looking for a Head of Maintenance and Estates to lead on the effective delivery of an efficient and customer focused maintenance and estate service across our properties within SIG. Managing a small team, you will focus on management and leadership activities to empower staff to achieve high quality results in the service. You will take oversight of the Maintenance and Estates function, to ensure the smooth running of upkeep and repair operations, working with various teams internally and externally to build sustainable working relationships.

You will have overall responsibility for ensuring policies and processes are up to date and that the way the function is run has continuous improvement. You will lead with creating and implementing a strategic plan, supporting with short to medium to long term objectives. You will work to ensure properties and estates are kept safe, to required standards and lead the team towards achieving the SIG ‘Good Homes’ standard.

About you

We are looking for someone who has extensive experience in managing similar repairs and estates services and who is able to lead a team to be empowered to provide a high-quality service. You will be able to to develop and implement maintenance plans, strategies, and procedures, and have confidence to take ownership of your department, making key decisions.

• Management and leadership experience, including with direct line of reports and indirect
• Experience in developing and implementing formal maintenance plans, strategies, and procedures with a key eye to detail
• Experience in directing and delivering customer service functions, ideally in a repairs and maintenance or cleaning context
• Experience in completing and managing risk assessments
• A recognised building services qualification and/or any of the following: NEBOSH, IOSH, Certificate in Occupational Heath and Safety, Legionella Awareness, Asbestos Duty Manager Training, Fire Safety Qualification
• Proactive approach to work, ability to use own initiative to resolve challenges
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
• Ability to balance competing priorities

Purpose:

Key deliverables:

Support the Director of Finance with the production of their year end accounts including fixed asset register, investment schedules and grant disclosures.

• Lead the preparation and execution of the Foundation’s long-term strategic financial plans and annual budgeting processes in an effective and timely manner.
• Responsible for monitoring and providing the relevant financial information form the various funding agreements with partners.
• Accountable for overseeing the production of the monthly ’performance packs’ and associated information – highlighting key trends, issues, and opportunities as appropriate.

Essential criteria:

• Professional accountancy qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or at finalist stage.

The position will be based at The Football Foundation’s head office at Wembley Stadium and requires 2 visits per week to the office, dependent on business need, in addition to attending two-day all team meet ups each quarter. This will be achieved by creating the position of Technical Project Lead to project manage and oversee implementation of Salesforce; increasing capacity in the finance team by appointing a Finance Manager; and implementing new cloud-based financial accounting software to work alongside Salesforce. The Director of Finance & Operations will direct, administer and coordinate the financial, governance, HR, IT and operational activities of the charity in accordance with company policies and the Strategic Plan established by the Chief Executive (CE) and the Board of Trustees, and to assure the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of the planning, delivery and reporting of these activities.

The Organisation

The Role

As a Legal Advisor, you will provide legal support on a wide range of property-related matters across The Royal Parks estate. We have a number of residential and commercial properties that are under licence to third-parties, many of whom in the commercial forum are charities and entities that support The Royal Parks’ objectives, as well as licences for sports grounds, car parks and other properties on Crown land.

Working closely with our Principal Legal Advisor Estates and the Estates and Parks Teams, you will ensure our properties are managed in line with our charitable obligations.

On a day-to-day basis, your work will span the creation, review and negotiation of licences for commercial and residential properties, whilst assisting the Estates and Parks Teams in the management of the estate from a legal perspective.

Your licensing work will also involve works licences within the Parks and in relation to adjoining land where in order to carry out the works access to the Parks is required with resultant retention licences for example, where utility pipes ducts and cables are retained or encroachment licences where there are encroachments from adjoining properties, on under or over the Parks. You will also deal with freebord licences for garden use in connection with adjoining land.

Additionally, you will:

• Interpret legislation and policy, offering clear legal guidance
• Manage external counsel to ensure knowledge is retained internally
• Draft and review legal documents to complete transactions
• Ensure necessary consents, filings and registrations are completed

About You

To be considered as a Legal Adviser, you will need:

• To be a qualified lawyer
• Experience specialising in commercial property transactional work, including freehold and leasehold conveyancing

You will play a vital role in helping clients sustain accommodation, access services, and develop the skills and confidence needed to take control of their lives.
