For September 2024, we have just established a students’ union space in MDX House, the home of student life on campus. Our Head of Engagement and Influence will lead the charge to harness mass engagement from our students in extra and intracurricular opportunities so that they can develop the skills, networks and communities to influence their education and shape their futures.
Leading a directorate of 9 full time staff, and supporting three full time student officers as well as 100s of student leaders, you will help staff and students develop communities and campaigns approaches that ensure students are shaping their education, their communities and their lives. The successful candidate will have excellent coaching and mentoring skills and be able to put them to use to develop staff and our full time officers, growing and developing their teams to reach new heights. You will have the skills to build systems, processes and projects to ensure that students have excellent support and opportunities, with the ability to lead the team to achieve our vision for Engagement and Influence.
We are looking for someone who will go the extra mile for students, who is passionate and committed to the impact MDXSU can have on our students’ futures. You’ll be a great communicator, a team player and relish the opportunity to work directly with students every day.
Due to our new Progression Framework, the successful postholder will get the opportunity to develop significantly throughout their time with MDXSU. You will be supported to take on challenging projects and opportunities that directly contribute to the skills you need for the rest of your career, including access to a free MBA or equivalent masters’ level qualification with paid study time. Through quarterly reviews, and a structured progression plan, the most successful candidates could move from the entry point of the band to the top of the pay scale in as little as 18 months.
Like all SU staff, the Head of Engagement and Influence also shares responsibility for supporting the work of our elected student officers and delivering against key projects, such as welcome week activity, SU elections and feeding into the wider work of the SU and the university.

In 2025 Oxford will open its new home for humanities, the state-of-the-art Stephen A Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities. This is an opportunity to join the University’s Humanities Development team as we work to secure philanthropic support for scholarships, academics and the capital project.
We are looking for a new fundraiser to join our energetic team to raise major gifts for a range of posts, scholarships, and other priorities across the Humanities. Oxford is the world’s leading university for humanities teaching and research. When it opens, the Schwarzman Centre will bring together seven faculties from the division under one roof for the first time. The University’s scholarship in languages, literature, history, philosophy, religion & the arts – from the earliest civilisation to the present day – enriches our understanding of humankind, and informs how we engage with historic issues and contemporary concerns.
About the Role
This fundraiser will work closely with senior academics in the Humanities Division. The post will focus primarily on funding for posts, scholarships, and access and outreach in the academic faculties as well as securing support for the activities of the Cultural Programme and Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities. An interest and appreciation for the arts and humanities is essential.
To Be Successful You’ll Need:
- To be an experienced development professional with a track record of securing major gifts and the ability to secure gifts in the range of £100,000 to £500,000
- Confidence to work with people from a range of backgrounds, both internally and externally
- The ability to think creatively in prospecting, cultivation and stewardship
Salary:
Grade 7: £36,024 - £44,263 per annum with a possible extension to £48,350 - with an Oxford University Weighting of £1,500 per year (pro rata).

The role
In this role, you’ll be responsible for:
• Strategic development and oversight of community programmes for children, adults and across multiple generations
• Leadership and line management of team; oversight of sessional facilitators and contractors used by team
• Setting programme budget and service targets; monitoring and evaluation to ensure delivery against these
• Playing a key part in building, broadening and developing new funding for these programmes and maintaining relationships with current funders

About you
You have a track record of developing and delivering excellent community programmes in the third sector. You’re a seasoned team leader with experience of change management. You’re flexible, accountable, take responsibility, are highly organised and skilled in multitasking and balancing priorities. You have experience of fundraising and maybe other types of income generation. You have strong relationship building skills – internally and externally - and build trust and credibility easily. You will join the Development team at an exciting time for the School. Under new leadership and with pupil numbers at an all-time high, fundraising continues to play a crucial role in securing the future of musical education and helping to develop the next generation of classical musicians. Our strategy is focused on reaching out to new donors, as well as continuing to engage our loyal body of current supporters, including several engaged grant-making trusts and foundations.
You will build on an existing portfolio of organisations that donate between four and six-figures. Your ability to develop significant, multi-year relationships with new trusts and foundations will be critical to your success. The School has also previously secured a grant from the DCMS Culture Recovery Fund, managed by the Arts Council, opening the door to possible future funding from statutory sources, which would also fall under your responsibility. This is a key role in making The Yehudi Menuhin School’s strategic priorities a reality on the ground. You will need to be proactive, enterprising and systematic in approaching funders, and be able to engage and manage internal stakeholders.
This is a permanent position, working 9.00am until 5.30pm 4 or 5 days per week. Some flexibility will be required to attend evening and weekend concerts and events at YMS and in London.

Yorkshire Cancer Research has embarked on an exciting programme to transform and improve the survival and the quality of life of cancer patients.
Active Together is a multimodal prehabilitation and rehabilitation service that has been developed by world leading academics and practitioners at the Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre (AWRC) at Sheffield Hallam University (SHU).
Reporting to the Director of Research and Services, The Head of Active Together will lead the charity’s Active Together team to directly deliver Active Together services in various locations across Yorkshire as well as overseeing funding contracts with NHS Trusts to deliver the service on behalf of the Charity. They will work in partnership with Sheffield Hallam University to evaluate and ensure continuous improvement of all the Active Together services.
Specifically, you will:
Leadership

Ensure the highest levels of good governance within the Active Together team by:

About You
To be considered for this role, you will need:

To have excellent track record of management and leadership, with relevant experience at a senior manager/team leader level in delivering exercise-based, or cancer-related, services in the public or charity sector setting.

To have proven experience of managing internal budgets, risk registers and complying with internal and external governance requirements such as data protection regulations in a public or charity sector setting.

Summary
The newly scoped CEO role in our vision-focussed charity is one of many challenges. We are looking for someone who understands the balance of external and internal focus required to ensure both good governance and team wellbeing (as they work in often challenging circumstances) and the ambition to keep developing existing and new external partnerships. With a strong start to its ambitious Corporate Partnership programme, commercial and/or business experience is highly desirable as well as a proven track record in creating and optimising new funding channels.

The Upper Room (TUR) works with a wide range of financially and socially disadvantaged groups including homeless people, people with long-term mental health conditions, asylum-seekers, refugees and ex-offenders – helping them to improve their lives and become productive members of society. Central to our offering is our UR4Meals service, providing free, home-cooked food to people who cannot afford to provide for themselves. Service Provision: Supporting the Supported Housing Manager with the daily operations of the services so that they meet the requirements of the service specification including compliance with the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) and Ofsted regulations. Oversee the residents’ referral, interview and induction processes for all beds and ensure the Occupancy Agreements and House Rules are fully understood. Ensure the quality of accommodation that is provided, liaising with the Housing and Property Services team to complete estate inspections and health & safety risk assessments, and to turn around voids and organise repairs in line with organisational targets and statutory obligations. With the Supported Housing Manager ensure effective monitoring of move on options are met.
Leadership and People Management: Directly line manage team members, ensuring their service delivery, working culture and personal development mirror best practice. Ensuring the team is adequately trained and empowered to work effectively and creatively with our young people to enable them to achieve their aspirations and ambitions, whilst ensuring they are supported within safe and consistent boundaries.
