Overview:

Following the successful application of a National Lottery award, we are seeking two dedicated and compassionate Peer Support Group Development Officers to set up and sustain local peer support groups for people living with and affected by prostate cancer. These roles focus on building on our established networks to expand peer support in defined areas, facilitating group formation, and enhancing service delivery through strategic outreach and resource development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Group formation and support: Oversee the setup and operation of 10-12 self-sustaining and independent peer support groups within your assigned region across the lifetime of the three-year project. Ensure smooth delivery, monitoring, and evaluation of group activities. Support existing group leaders and organisers to reach more people living with and affected by prostate cancer with tools and resources.
• Volunteer Coordination: Recruit, train, and support volunteer Support Group Leaders. Assist in the co-production of training materials and resources, aimed at creating self-sustainable groups.
• Community Engagement: Conduct outreach to map existing support services and facilitate the integration of these services with the peer support groups. Host local engagement events to boost volunteer recruitment.
• Data and Case Management: Use a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to support high-quality volunteer and case management, ensuring accurate data collection to support service outcomes.
• Training and Development: Develop and deliver tailored training programmes for volunteers based on the specific needs of Group Leaders and Organisers. Set up regional forums for sharing best practices and peer networking. Encourage use of Members Portal to share good practice.
• Documentation and Compliance: Ensure compliance with Best Practice Guidance document. Ensure adherence to safeguarding policies to maintain safe governance of peer support groups.

Skills and Qualities Required:

• Strong Facilitation and Communication Skills: Ability to engage effectively with diverse groups. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
• Project Management: Proven skills in managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders. Ability to meet deadlines and manage a varied workload.
• Volunteer Management: Experience in recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers in community settings. Knowledge of best practices in volunteer management.
• Influencing: Experience of influencing a wide range of partners and stakeholders, and in particular clinicians and voluntary and community providers within the health and wellbeing community.
• Community Development: Experience of developing and delivering community services with a range of stakeholders, including health and social care workers, commissioners, local authority and community and voluntary partners.
• Data-Driven Approach: Experience with data collection and CRM systems and a commitment to data-driven service evaluation.
• Community Sensitivity: Experience collaborating with people with a lived experience of cancer or other long-term conditions. Ability to understand and empathise with community needs.
• Administrative: Strong administration and IT skills to maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Safeguarding Knowledge: A good understanding of safeguarding practices, particularly concerning vulnerable populations.

Educational Qualifications:

• Relevant qualification or experience in Community Development, Psychology, Public Health, or a related field is preferred.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The purpose of this job is to provide energy efficiency advice and casework-level support to individuals and families living in low-income households and facing fuel poverty. The primary goals of the project are:

1. Raise Awareness & Energy Savings - Educate vulnerable local communities, who may lack prior knowledge, about strategies for reducing energy costs and achieving long-term energy and financial savings. The aim is to empower individuals with practical energy-saving techniques and encourage grassroots peer learning within these communities to help spread survival strategies.

2. Energy Advice & Fuel Debt Support - Offer detailed guidance on energy management, including addressing fuel debt issues, to help clients understand their fuel usage in the context of their overall financial situation. This includes enabling individuals to make informed decisions about energy consumption and related financial matters.

3. Assist Vulnerable Communities in Energy Crisis - Equip particularly vulnerable households with the skills necessary to cope with the growing crisis in household energy debt, as consumption rises sharply. This involves preparing communities to manage their energy usage and finances more effectively in the face of increasing energy costs.

4. Income Maximisation & Benefits Awareness - Help raise awareness about entitlements and assist clients in claiming relevant benefits to maximise family income, ultimately helping them manage energy expenses more sustainably.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Holistic Client Assessment and Support - conduct detailed confidential interviews with clients, applying a holistic approach to assess their needs for advice and support.
2. Compliance and Quality Standards - Provide energy efficiency advice and casework support that adheres to the Advice Quality Standard (AQS).
3. Comply with AQS case management and case recording procedures and processes, contributing to the delivery of high-quality advice and casework, and the collection and reporting of statistical data as required to enable accurate evaluation of the impact of the service and reporting to funders.
4. To be responsible for delivering high-quality one-to-one advice and casework on energy efficiency - targeting our food hub participants and other local residents who are on low income. 
5. To raise awareness and assist people without any previous awareness/knowledge of how to save on energy costs and develop long-term energy and monetary savings within their homes.
6. To facilitate and deliver monthly Switching Off Poverty workshops/talks/group sessions about fuel poverty; how to identify at-risk local residents; what tools/assistance is available; and how to impart help and guidance following the end of the programme - these workshops aim to enable participants to access tools and develop the new skills required to help them monitor, track, record, and understand their household fuel use and bills.
7. Provide advice and assistance through a range of channels; Face-To-Face, Telephone, Teams/Zoom, WhatsApp as well as via email/letter.
8. To ensure that the service offered is tailored to the needs of clients and takes into account the particular needs of each individual, including issues around communication, understanding, and vulnerability.
9. Through clear communication and consultation, ensure that clients remain involved in resolving their energy debt, benefit, and money management issues and are kept informed on the progress of their case throughout our work with them.
10. To provide advice and support around energy efficiency and money management; income maximisation; budgeting; saving; debt and understanding and accessing appropriate financial products.
11. To effectively use the database system (Lamplight) to organise and manage client support and to take on issues (as cases) for the client that may have issues with billing and metering problems. Take up complaints and provide grant-assisted schemes. All work is to follow the file LHP’s management procedure. 
12. To be responsible for the delivery of an agreed annual project plan, meeting targets and milestones for the Energy Efficiency advice service.
13. To liaise with other agencies and develop and sustain good working relationships with those agencies.
14. To be responsible for maintaining project files with evidence of project outputs and milestones.
15. Supported by the Advice Services Manager and members of the team, you will collectively develop relationships with other organisations by attending various borough-wide forums and raising awareness.  
16. To be responsible for preparing the quarterly project monitoring report to send out to the funder and ensuring progress against milestones and achievement of agreed targets are being met.
17. To contribute to the monitoring of the project and provide quarterly and annual monitoring data and evaluative reporting to the Services Manager for dissemination to the Funders.
18. To establish and maintain warm relations of trust and cooperation with clients in keeping with the Limehouse Project ethos.
19. To remain alert to issues relating to capacity, client understanding, and safeguarding issues when working with clients and promptly consult with the Advice Services Manager regarding any areas of concern.
20. To respond to clients’ file reviews, take action and follow the key date task diary on the LHP database system.
21. To strictly adhere to all LHP policies, in particular those on confidentiality, equal opportunity, case recording, file management policy, etc. Strictly follow the AQS Quality System e.g. clients’ filing system, monitoring system, referral system, etc, and keep them up to date.

About The Felix Project

The Felix Project is London's biggest food redistribution charity and the largest end-to-end food redistribution charity in Europe. Our vision is a London where no one goes hungry and good food is never wasted. We rescue surplus food from businesses, supermarkets, restaurants and farms. This food is nutritious, in-date, and safe and includes a high proportion of fresh vegetables, fruit, meat and fish. If we did not rescue this food, it would be at risk of going to waste. Purpose of the Job

The Senior Statutory, Trusts and Foundations Manager will support the step change in growth of primarily Statutory income and support Trusts and Foundations income for The Felix Project in line with the organisational strategy.

This role does not currently have direct reports; subject to income growth, it is anticipated the successful postholder will build a team over time. 

You will be part of a successful team generating £5M with planned incremental growth over the next three years.

We have secured significant funding from the GLA. Our goal is to retain and build upon this, gaining multiyear strategic statutory funding both from central government, local government, and through the individual London boroughs.

You will have a track record delivering Statutory income. You will assess the performance of our statutory funding, working in partnership with the Head of Community Engagement to map a pipeline of potential funds, pinpointing key influencing and decision-making contacts. As part of business planning, you will evaluate the needs of commissioners, working with The Felix Project service delivery teams and finance to create funding bids which are framed to deliver the funders goals, whilst ideally covering the charity’s core costs.

The Felix Project has recently established a Policy Unit. You will work closely with the team to understand the advocacy strategy which has the potential to provide substantiation for funding bids through insight and elevate Felix’s position in the market as a lead and trusted public service delivery solution.

You will be used to working with impact teams from the creation of a funding bid, to establish direct and indirect measures of success which will provide the data points required by funders and help support Felix’s position as a multi-year delivery partner.

You will be confident writing detailed reports meeting funders needs and collaborating with teams across the charity to bring alive the impact of our work.

The role involves frequent collaboration with key internal partners at all levels to inform engagement with funders, including the Charity’s CEO and Trustees. Occasionally we would expect you to work evenings and weekends at networking or fundraising events.

Trust and Foundations income forms 50% of the team’s current revenue. Directed by the Head of Statutory, Trusts and Foundations, and working in partnership with the Senior Trusts and Foundations Manager, you will cultivate existing funders with the aim to secure repeat and grow funding; you will manage and add to an agreed pipeline of warm, lapsed and cold funders securing commitment through great research, understanding of a funders goals, inspiring bid writing, and attentive stewardship.

Because of the impactful work of The Felix Project, fundraising for this cause is very rewarding. During COVID and the current cost-of-living crisis we have focused primarily on our social impact, providing nutritious surplus food and prepared meals from Felix’s Kitchen to Londoners in need. We provide the food for free to over 1000 community organisations, primary schools and children’s holiday programmes across all boroughs. The environmental impact we have by rescuing huge amounts of good quality surplus food from farms and a wide variety of food suppliers is another exciting angle to approach funders with.

In addition, we are piloting youth volunteering and employability programmes, and at times we have exciting tech and capital projects to raise funds for.

The Upper Room (TUR) works with a wide range of financially and socially disadvantaged groups including homeless people, people with long-term mental health conditions, asylum-seekers, refugees and ex-offenders – helping them to improve their lives and become productive members of society. Central to our offering is our UR4Meals service, providing free, home-cooked food to people who cannot afford to provide for themselves. The Brent Centre for Young People is the leading mental health charity for young people in Northwest London, helping over 700 young people a year with a wide range of issues. Fundraising at BCYP

BCYP has historically been very successful in raising funds from non-statutory sources, particularly trusts and foundations, and is grateful to hold a number of established relationships with grant- makers. We work hard to ensure that we submit excellent, data-driven applications and evaluations. Until now, applications have largely been submitted by our Fundraising Manager- Trusts & Foundations, with occasional support from a freelance bid-writer. We now want to recruit a new member of the team, to help us to grow our income stream in this area and help us to steward these key relationships.

In this exciting newly created role, you will be responsible for helping to grow our income from grant- makers to design and promote funding opportunities, and to steward relationships with supporters through the giving cycle. Role Purpose:

This role is a key member of the busy HQ finance function. The role is primarily focused on HQ finances and will also work with the colleagues across our global finance team. The role offers the chance to work across a number of finance functions, including: management accounting, supporting year end audit, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable and working on some of the subsidiary charities; and so it provides a great opportunity to experience the full breadth of finance work in a charity across all functions in a varied and interesting role.

It is essential that the applicant can juggle the complexities of a busy role with has varied work priorities. Key stakeholders are the HQ Finance Manager, Finance Director and the HQ based fundraising team. The role works alongside the Finance Assistant and plays a role in oversight and coaching of this role. Street Child is implementing a new CRM system and this role will feed into the development of new processes and procedures and use both the CRM and finance system and ensure full reconciliation and data trail between the two systems.

Key Responsibilities:

1) (40%) Deliver all functions related to Accounts Receivable and CRM:

• Ensure that all income from a variety of different sources is correctly and accurately recorded in the finance system and CRM (which is under development) on a weekly basis.
• Supporting with work on accounts receivable including accessing, downloading and saving in a systematic manner reports from donor portals, bank account and other sources.
• Working with colleagues in Fundraising to analyse and code income reports in Excel and uploading it to the Finance system on a timely basis, at least weekly. Following up on how to code any income which is not allocated to a source.
• Working closely with colleagues in Fundraising to ensure prompt collection of outstanding balances from customers, and sending out monthly debtor balance statements.
• Raising donor invoices and requests for payments, and issuing donor receipts.
• Income and customer account reconciliations and revaluations.

2) (40%) Month end reporting and reconciliation and subsidiary accounts:

• Complete all balance sheet reconciliations, including bank and petty cash reconciliations and submit for approval by HQ Finance Manager.
• Once CRM system is in place, undertake reconciliation processes between finance data and CRM data.
• Carry out monthly revaluations of bank accounts.
• Ensuring supporting information for transactions is correctly stored in electronic format on Teams such as bank statements, remittance advices, credit statements.

• Determine most efficient payment platform to process international payments, and ensure that recorded in the finance system at the correct conversion rate.
• Be a point of contact with the Foreign exchange agents to quickly resolve any questions.
• Work with the Finance Assistant to ensure accurate and timely recording of all approved supplier invoices, requisitions, staff expenses and other expenditure in the accounting system and that all supporting documentation for all transactions are uploaded.
• Ensuring that there are at least two payment runs a week and additional runs as required; overseeing the process to ensure that all invoices for payment are correctly approved by the budget holder, setting up payments on online banking platforms and sending out requests for payment approvals to payment authorisers and verifying that all payments are fully approved in the banking platforms by the deadline set. Providing cover to set up payments when the Finance Assistant is not available.
• Managing monthly staff credit card reconciliations and ensure that these are returned on time with all receipts and invoices and checking and reviewing classifications, with follow up as required.
• Carry out monthly Creditor account reconciliations ensuring that all balances are valid and backed up with appropriate supporting documentation.
